Hi IFTAS,
I visited sigmoid.social and I see 500 active users and a lot of activity on their local feed from what appear to be legitimate users.
Is there a way to reach these users to let them know that they are about to be defederated by many instances?

I don't. I just took a bunch of email addresses of spam accounts that I recently suspended and none of them are hits.
I can't use IP addresses. I don't collect them. A promise I make to those who sign up.

I try to keep on top of new accounts, but these accounts sit idle for a month, it seems, and suddenly start posting propaganda. It takes a while before I notice sometimes.
I sincerely appreciate what you do, and a DM or email is absolutely fine for me. Whatever takes the least effort and time for you.

Here are 5 more Jimmy the Liar (who often goes by the name JimmyTruth), accounts opened in the past 24 hours now claiming to have been born in multiple cities at the same time.
It seems he's taking a break from claiming to be God's personal servant. Unsure what he's up to this time. But the homophobia, transphobia, and unkindness are sure to follow.
Apparently he's just a con man.
He's opened accounts on countless instances, and has been suspended on most of them, including mine.
I notice that .social already has all of these below suspended, except for the one on mastodon.cc, as of this moment:

I just received this #scam email targeting hear-me.social users, trying to get them to log in using a malicious link so their accounts can be stolen.
I hope nobody would be fooled by this.
I will never send an email asking anyone to sign into their accounts and provide a link to do so. I will never provide a link to the login page.
My email address is made public so they are probably only targeting those who have posted their email addresses.
Other Admins, please take notice, as I'm sure other instances are being targeted.

I looked at some posts on shortstacksran, just a sampling, and I didn't see racism. I did see posts that, I thought, were inappropriate and walk the line, for reasons other than racism. I limited the server to keep their posts off the public timeline and prevent boosting. People are still free to create follow relationships (none here, anyway). If you see a racist post that the Admin won't act on, open a report.
It seems all the accounts I sampled are owned by low IQ people. But, unless I see evidence that the admin allows racism or allows the breaking of serious rules, I won't block them. I need strong proof before I block another server.
As for servers involved in AI because they might steal something, all servers, because they have people behind their accounts, might steal something. There's no rule here against servers that focus on AI if that's what they focus on. I didn't check anything on the server. And I am not against AI. I don't believe AI=evil.

If an instance is allowing a festering infection of hatred to grow and spread, like a cancer, yes, it should be removed from the Federation, like any cancer is removed from a healthy organism to allow it to live a good life and thrive.
You don't fight cancer, one metastasized cell at a time. You remove the entire festering evil mess and destroy it.
An inclusive diet doesn't mean you have to allow rotten, moldy food in your vegetable soup.
Inclusive social media doesn't mean you allow stupidity and morons into your conversations.
You're purposely misusing the connotation of inclusion to try to justify an evil.

I've decided to block linuxrocks.online after all. This conversation did it for me:
Q: Does your server welcome people who believe LGBT people don't deserve the same rights as non-LGBT people?
Do they also welcome people who believe that Jews don't deserve the same rights as non-Jews?
A: Yes, and Yes
In short order, bigots and hateful morons will be opening up accounts on linuxrocks.online as word gets out that they are welcome there.
The Admin hides under the "we allow unpopular opinions", but these are not opinions because they defy the evidence. They are just stupid statements that are meant to hurt people.

I'm convinced.
This did it for me:

My answer is Never and Never.
This means bigots and creeps will be running to his instance now to set up their homes for hating. His claim about unpopular opinions is bullshit. Statements that oppose facts are not opinions, they are just stupid, dangerous, hateful speech.

I've blocked the individual account @npub1jzk…hxs8 from this server for insisting, without evidence, that Imane Khelif is a man, and then going on a rampage about men beating up women because he prefers to believe this to be true. Then trying to engage others to join his unproven rage.
1. A fact is information minus emotion.
2. An opinion is information plus experience.
3. Ignorance is an opinion lacking information.
4. And, stupidity is an opinion that ignores a fact.
People whose posts fall into category 4, as his comments do, are highly likely to be blocked here, and if they are hosted here, to have their accounts terminated because category 4 statements harm people.
There is now pressure on me to block linuxrocks because the Admin is not taking action against the user. Blocking a server breaks connections and impacts people who are caught in the cross fire. I don't block lightly.
I don't like blocking servers that are not created for evil purposes just because I disagree with the Admin on how they run their server. I have no reason to believe that linuxrocks was created to hurt other people.
My advice to the admin there:
This guy is not doing you any favors being on your server. Regardless of whether you feel he has a right to say what he believes, it's your server, and he's perfectly capable of getting his own Mastodon server. You aren't eclipsing his right to free speech by removing him. You have no requirement to fight for him, so he can say whatever comes into his mind.
Without evidence to back up what he says, he is causing other people pain and distress. It gives people a reason to harass other people. Like it or not, you are complicit in this.
It impacts your other users, as your instance seems to becoming blocked by others, you might seriously consider telling him to leave.
Just some advice from one Admin to another.

All this is absolutely true. The mass block lists have built in extortion against admins who won't follow orders from some larger instances.
Admins, do your own analysis and don't be dupes.
