Business idea that I’m working on:
Home appliances that are as analog as possible while being efficient.
My washing machine doesn’t need wi-fi.
My stove doesn’t require a subscription.
My fridge doesn’t need to have a screen shoving ads in my face.
And all of them should be trivially repairable.
I know there are enough people who have guns pointed at their printers in case the printer develops an attitude; I’m certain there are people who would go for this.

When courts chastise lawyers and litigants for bogus citations that clog the legal system, when recipes generated are poison, when books and articles they bullshit about lead to irrationally angry people, when people try to shortcut spirituality by using these services, when search engines are poisoned by countless slop pages…

There used to be a backup, a cast iron wood burning stove kept part of the place warm, but between how heavy that thing is and the lack of safe venting, it’s no longer an option.
Currently thinking of making a hobo stove as a catastrophic backup heat source but burning things inside is a dangerous idea.

It’s definitely different living without central heating.
Our bedroom is heated with a heat pump.
We also have one functional sealed oil heater that moves between our bedroom (mostly to dry clothes since the rain has been too frequent to line dry), the bathroom (helps evaporate moisture when we shower), and the greenhouse (freezing plants are dead plants).
We’re not sure what our play is should we lose power. That’s our anxiety since the current indoor temp outside our bedroom is <12.8°C.

Nothing like being able to take advantage of DAFT if one is able.
