To the gamers here on Nostr, Enderal might be worth checking out. I've only played it for a bit, but it's definitely got me hooked. It's a game built on Skyrim, but it's ot exactly a mod, it's a completely seperate game built on the engine. It's free if you already own a later version of Skyrim, and if you don't I picked up the special edition for cheap on the Steam summer sale.
It's definitely a slower feeling game. It's a but harder (enjoyable, but difficult, given I'm a rather bad gamer) with a lot more resource management and slower, more calculating gameplay. Definitely scratching an itch that I haven't seen much in many games. Worth a try if you like the elder scrolls games, or if you want to like them but are slightly offput by the newer games' focus on hand holding and cinimatics as opposed to gameplay itself.

The price definitely seems a little steep, but then again I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to PC building prices. Though I'd bet there'd probably be a lot of intrest in streamlined PC gaming if they build a 'steam machine verified' system like they do with the steam deck.

Just spitballing, but could be a de-aging/beauty filter. The skin on her face and neck look a bit more blurry than the skin on her hands or the upper part of her chest. Or could be post processing of some sort, either by the editor or YouTube itself (I think they're using AI to "enhance" most videos automatically).

Walmart garden center doesn't want you to know this, but plants can grow more plants.
I never heard of tissue culture before, but even as a kid I did the room temp IQ version of sticking a plant cutting in water and making two plants. Maybe someday I'll get myself a couple acres and clone myself some berry plants and trees and get a mini permiculture setup.

My car is still in the shop so I picked up some long overdue rain gear, the super cheap amazon rain gear works amazingly well. Even after an hour plus commute by motercycle through some somewhat heavy rain my shirt and pants were still completely dry. Even had I taken my car, they'd have been fairly wet from a walk from my car across a parking lot, so I'd say that was a pretty great success.
My boots on the other hand, despite being 'water proof' are very much not. They 'may' have been when I bought them, but they had ~1500 miles on them before I tested their waterproff capabilities, and they're definitly not now. And of course, silly me, I didn't think to avoid wearing cotton socks. Even AFTER last night's commute showed me they weren't water proof. So my feet are a bit cold and wet despite being here at work for 3.5 hours already.

It appears the coolant in my car decided to be a silly goose, and thought it'd cool the engine better if it was inside the engine instead if the radiator.
Lol, just got brand new tires that might be used for a total of 0.5 commutes depending how the engine is looking once somebody who knows what they're doing can look at it.
Today has been a bit of an adventure.

I wanted to try out NIP-B0 (public bookmarks/link aggregation), and since it looks like most clients are works in progress, I wound up vibing a fork of MKpinja.

It's not exactly a premium client, you're probably better off using using a different bookmarking client once some better clients finish supporting the NIP. But if anyone wanted to give it a try it's there in the meantime.
Honestly, the setup was really easy. Hadn't used Shakespeare before, I plugged in a free OpenRouter model and it went pretty seamlessly. Total cost for a custom client with a feature combo I was looking for (and couldn't find elsewhere) was $0 to build and deploy.

Well looks like Debian might have cooked my tablet. Upgraded from Bookworm to Trixie (yes, I know I'm late to the party on that) and something just broke itself. And, instead of going to bed early like I should be (my alarm is going off at 4:45 AM) I'm seeing if I can get it working.
Well, I guess if nothing else I had a good run. I think this is the first time a Debian installation imploded post installation for a reason that was not (at least probably not?) my fault.

I *think* (assuming courts don't strike the laws down, which I hope they do) the laws mostly focus on companies. If Zapstore and GrapheneOS are outside jurisdictions that require it, and somebody in a restricted jurisdiction get their hands on it one way or another, nobody's going to jail.
Which is good, since I'm in NY and there's an even more restrictive bill than California already in the works. Props to people who'd flaunt the laws, but I'm not going to jail or getting saddled with more debt in fines than I'll make in my life for software.
But again, fingers crossed they're struck down in the US. If a lower court already struck down a much less restrictive Texas law, maybe there's some hope for that at least.

In my experience as a non-engineer with very mild development experience, when I toy with AI it has the feeling of a skill multiplier. With a skill of 0.1 I can give it instructions (eg comply with these NIPs, keep it all local within the browser using web storage, etc) doing way more than I could have on my own. Multiplying a skill of zero, though ("dear AI: build this thing on your own without oversight") makes for a broken mess of incompatibility and unnecessary (and probably insecure) back-ends.

I used Librewolf for a while until the memory leaks got to me, now I mostly use Brave. Not sure if MAC would have the same Gecko issues though, Firefox/Librewolf might be worth a shot. Vivaldi is also cool, it's a bit more suite-like than my liking, but it's more of a preference thing than a knock against the browser.

I think the Voyage client handles data well, not loading things like images/videos by default. Tried it in the past, a tad bit too minimalist for my taste (and I never browse on cellular), but has a nice charm to it.
For ram/cpu, I don't think things are all that crazy intense, unless the client is unoptimized. My Chromebook running Debian (dual core cpu that's very out of date, 1.88 gb usable RAM) runs Nostrudel. The page freezes or runs slow occasionally, but fairly rarely and usually only when loading my feed after opening the page. And that's with all the works (outbox model, nsec bunker, relay authentication, and following 100+ accounts - albeit some being inactive).
At least my observations anyway.

Hey, random thought, if it was a useful idea figured you all would be the people to make use of it. Has there been any consideration of using Nostr for age verification?
A user verifies their age in a semi private way (say, a small credit card transaction) -> provider creates an event or badge of some kind and applies it to their profile -> the user of the profile can be assumed to be of age without needing to provide proof to relays or other services.
It wouldn't exactly be anonymous, but it'd probably be about as pseudonymous as you could get for an age verification (the npub with an age attested isn't publicly tied to any details that were used to verify it).
I know age verification isn't really in line with cypherpunk ideals, but a lot of jurisdictions are moving to require it. At some point soon everything from a Nostr relay to a GitLab server could require age verification, and as much as ignoring it now might an option, it might be good to get ahead of things and get the infrastructure for that sort of stuff in place. A verified npub or gpg key might be the least evil of all the options, and could probably be useful to verify an account for just about any small project or service (Nostr & beyond) without requiring the people verifying to pay for some external age verification service, and without requiring the people being verified to hand over their personal details to ever service.

IMO, I feel like Nostr and Bluesky are struggling for two different reasons - Nostr with minimal exposure and a high barrier to entry, and Bluesky because it got very heavily political captured. I'd bet there'd be a lot to learn on the Nostr side about Bluesky's easyness to join and abstraction of keys (or forgoing them for domain based accounts in some cases).

I think publishing to Kindle Unlimited might have its benefits - readers get it for free, but you get a portion of their subscription revenue. It requires it to be exclusive to Amazon for the duration, but might be a way of bootstrapping an audience.
If you weren't planning to do Kindle Unlimited, then I'd say go wide. Amazon is a pain when it comes to reading books. No DRM free content (generally, though they may have changed slightly very recently), and good luck reading it the way you want (e.g. reading offline on Linux is impossible without running a Windows VM). It's also got a lot of people publishing on it - something like Smashwords might have less users, but it's also probably got a lot less competition.

Work had me in Niagara, NY today. Got off early and stopped by the falls. Was a a combination of snowy and misty, but got a few cool snapshots.

I don't know of many Orthodox books, though The Papacy and the Orthodox by A. Edward Siecienski has been on my reading list for a bit. I think it's written by an Orthodox scholar, but I'm not 100% that's the case.
The book is crazy expensive, but the NYPL gave me free web access which I downloaded for later reading. If you do consider it, check out some libraries before dumping three figures on a book.
