you first need to prove what was created.
Every byte matters.
If the underlying data changes, even slightly, the proof should change too.
That's why verifiable media starts with deterministic data—not assumptions.

A photo and its proof don't have to live in the same place.
In fact, they shouldn't.
Media is large.
Proof is small.
Store each where it makes the most sense, then link them together with cryptography.
That's how verifiable media scales.

OpenVeil isn't trying to detect fake media.
Detection is a moving target.
As AI gets better, detectors need to catch up.
Instead, we focus on something that doesn't change:
Can the origin of this media be cryptographically verified?
That's a question mathematics can answer.

AI can generate pixels.
It can't forge a valid signature from a private key it doesn't possess.
That's the difference between guessing authenticity and proving authenticity.

Anyone can copy a photo.
Anyone can edit a photo.
Anyone can claim,
"I took this."
