Surveillance. I was thinking about the ROI of surveillance for both. You've got more people driving cars, so the ROI is higher. Bicycles... well they could surveil bicycles, but the ROI is lower. I think that's about it. Probaly the same with financial transactions. What's the ROI to surveil a txn?

You can get eCash by sending sats on Lightning. Gotta have Lightning enabled wallet first.

At first, I really liked your idea. Thought it would work. But I wanted to test it. Loaded up two cashu.me pages and cloned the state so they both had the same wallet. Then I created PKs for both, and went offline.
I wasn’t able to create a “locked” token while offline. However, I was able to create tokens of different amounts from each instance and I could share those.

Was just trying to replicate this. Looks like you can create the eCash token while offline and then send the token to the other offline cashu.me instance, but it’s not actually redeemed until the instance goes online. Seems reasonable to me.
It’s a bit like printing the eCash token string (or QR code) onto paper and then handing someone the paper. You “sent” them eCash, but the token hasn’t been redeemed yet.
Is there anything to prevent you from sharing the token multiple times? Then it becomes a race to be the first to redeem it. 🤔

Cashu blew my mind at first. I was like bitcoin on lightning with no fees and even more privacy! But then I was like, it’s custodial, but you choose your custodian. But then I started wondering… what prevents an entity from starting a mint, waiting for a deposit threshold, and then simply rugging and repeating… I’m positive my smooth lobes are missing something, but at a protocol level, is there any incentive not to do exactly this? Asking for a friend.
