They both do, but people are fairly patriotic in both countries. Putin has a 70something approval rating. Far from HATED.
Draft really does not work when govt is too unpopular, people either go and don't fight, or they shoot the press gangs on the streets. This is what happened in the 70s, thousands of fire-bombings, hundreds of sniper attacks, government forced to back down because they couldn't get people to go.
But even if they do go, then they shoot the officers (lookup "fragging officers" in Vietnam). And even if they don't shoot the officers, they don't fight if they can possibly avoid it.
It's generally thought that a draft in the US right now would trigger civil war.

Giving Iran nuclear weapons - if done as part of a wider peace process - would most likely actually END the war.

* E85 is 85% ethanol 15% gasoline, they sell that in the US too
* Gazole = diesel (B7 = 7% biodiesel, which is nice because it adds lubricity)
* GPLc is propane
All prices are by liter. E85 is cheaper because petroleum is heavily taxed...

This is a really dumb take.
The US destroyed the Iranian navy... Of course they did. The US is thousands of times more powerful than the Iranian government ever was, and it would be a total embarrassment if the US wasn't able to do that in a matter of hours.
The threat was never Iran's government, the real threat was that Iran's government would *collapse*. Because once they collapse, there's no one left who can call for peace, and it's just chaotic loose knit bands of militants fighting to the death, with (importantly) long range missiles that can hit anything trying to cross the strait of Hormuz - a very very VERY important trade route.
So the only way to secure global trade and 20% of the world's oil supply is a ground invasion. You can't bomb missiles, they're hidden in the mountains where they're impossible to see from the air. The only way to clear the country of missiles is with a ground invasion, and US invading Iran would be like China invading Appalachia. Same geography, same friendly locals.
The Japanese considered an invasion of the US in WW2, and one Japanese general famously quipped "There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass".
This is a loser's war, plain and simple. There's no winning move here. But none of it has anything to do with whether or not the US can topple the Iranian government.

1. I have a secret
2. I encrypt it (somehow) on a smart contract blah blah on a blockchain
3. You want my secret, and you're willing to do whatever the contract requires to get it (pay), so
4. You make a key pair and you submit your public key into the contract with the payment and the contract does <magic> which re-encrypts my secret so that your private key is able to decrypt it.
Every way you try to solve this, the miners/validators/etc can always steal the secret...

A US boots-on-the-ground war in Iran is highly likely to end with both sides losing.
The IRGC can't sustain against the bruit force of the US military, but the US military will get mired in Hell Mountains and end up losing to random chaotic goat herder tribes (probably Taliban that crosses the border lol).

12.5 cents is a weird denomination at first glance, but it's actually 1/2 of a quarter. It ought to say 1/8th dollar.
1/8th used to be called "a bit"
The term "two bit whore" meant she'd work for a quarter - which means she was cheap. That's a little under $20 in today's money so not as cheap as you might think.
The fact that bits mean eighths is a coincidence with the fact that computing settled on 8 bits per byte. Early computing used decimal with 4 or 5 bits per digit (that was hell). Later there were machines with 9 bit bytes. 8 bits was something that just emerged as a convenient power of two that was in the right order of magnitude for machines of the era.

I have no illusions that the USD system is aging out, but there's no way another fiat system will be able to get enough traction to replace it. Having been an expat for my entire adult life, I don't really have that much connection to America anymore and I'm more just cheering from the sidelines. But the US elites have been making the country a little bit worse every year since at least the 1970s. It's so depraved. There are places in America that even the poorest people in Europe would be astonished to see.

You know this old party trick with breaking a bottle with your hand by creating cavitation? It strikes me that building a larger scale version of this experiment could be really useful for high pressure experiments.
There are three ways you could do this:
1. Put the part under test at the bottom of a cylinder that's partially full of water, ideally with a cone at the bottom to concentrate the force, and then hit the top of the cylinder with an air hammer or a spring loaded hammer (don't underestimate big springs!) that can build a lot of inertia quickly. Exactly the same process as hitting the bottle.
2. Put the part at the top of a cylinder with a piston at the bottom and use a hydraulic system to pull the piston down. You might need to use a different working fluid because water is likely to vaporize faster than you can pull the piston, defeating your vacuum. Below the piston should be more water, because any air that leaks past the piston rings will otherwise spoil the vacuum.
3. The last idea is to fill the bottom of the cylinder with water, and fill the top of the cylinder with a gas that shrinks in volume when it burns (e.g. Brown's Gas). You light the gas and the collapsing of volume causes the water to rush from the bottom of the cylinder to the top. You could further improve on this design by using a piston to push the water in the bottom of the cylinder up, thus compressing the gas and creating more energy in the collapsing cavity.
- A thought that I can't get out of my mind, is the possibility that Stanley Meyer et,al actually DID create a water engine, but they didn't understand it, because what was actually happening was fusion. Not cold fusion, but normal high pressure high energy fusion, and the energy to trigger it was caused by cavitation from the collapse of Brown's Gas when ignited in the cylinder of the engine...

Well, that's not saying a whole lot because the political discourse in most countries is insane. For example shutting down the electrical generation capacity, the masses are asses...
But in America, the elites are either insane or corrupt, so there's nobody in The System saying "hey, we want to reduce crime, but not by causing everyone to have scary police encounters all of the time, lets optimize this..."

You know what one of the crazies things about the US is?
A cop can pull you over on the side of the road and be like "Please take this breathalyzer test" and you can say "no" because that's your right.
But he can also say "please step out of the car" and if you say "no" then he'll beat your ass and claim you're resisting, because that's not your right.
So the word "please", in US legal parlance, has 2 meanings:
1. Would you please wave your right not to do this?
2. By my authority I am compelling you to do this.
And they won't tell you which one it is, or they may lie about which one it is, and if you do it and you had the right not to then it's assumed you waved that right.
