it's always a little odd to me when someone is like "anarchism is for utopian babies but i have faith that social democracy can solve all our big problems." i understand that anarchists are supposed to be stupid kids and all but it's funny how people will go "people can never self-organize to solve problems. however they *can* self-organize to solve problems if we give some of them a gun and the ability to force their authority on others." i honestly feel like the ideologies that rely on Trusting The Guys In Charge are way more optimistic and faith-based. how does it get any easier to organize to solve problems when certain individuals are granted power that can be used to perpetuate problems for their own benefit

Arguments for banning porn seem to often include an argument that goes something like "this list of violent and abusive men said that porn made them this way" and like. Why are you so willing to believe that this violent and abusive man is telling the truth rather than just looking to externalize blame for his own misogynistic actions in an act of self-absolution.

Unless the bubble burst we are going to see serious AI-based cults soon. I have no doubt about it. You can see the seeds already in certain online circles where people have been driven further into psychosis by chatbots validating their delusions, and people who have convinced themselves that LLMs are a kind of thinking being instead of an advanced statistical model.

I will definitely be accepting recommendations for more anti-fascist/partisan/revolutionary etc marching songs in this style if anyone's got any. Might only be able to properly sing the English and French ones, but I can hum a tune in any language and maybe memorize a chorus line or two. Might spice up my mental "going for a walk" playlist

The problem with university is that the topics I would really love to study are often taught in a way that makes me not want to study them anymore. I really enjoy early modern european history, but I want like Engels' The Peasant War in Germany, not "conservative Catholic prof dogwhistles about the eternal battle between the antithetical worldviews of (Christian) Europe and (foreign) Islam."
