Thank you for supporting what we tried to build with Mutiny. The Lightning Network, especially self-custodial lightning on mobile, is a complex system. Unfortunately, it carried risks, many of which were out of our control.
We saw that the risks didn't outweigh the benefits to Mutiny Wallet users without an overhaul. Thus, we announced a multi-month plan to wind down the wallet, giving users time to move funds out. Mutiny and the community assisted many users during that time to move any remaining funds. It is still possible to use the emergency kit to recover funds for the next little while. The app remains published open source for anyone to self-host and improve.
Underlying the Mutiny Wallet was a strong layer of privacy, security, and encryption. Those elements were solid at the time, and they have massive benefits for both the Bitcoin app ecosystem and the broader web/mobile app space. Our goal is to empower hundreds of new "Mutiny"-type apps that innovate in the Lightning and Ecash space, pushing forward the mission of self-custodial, peer-to-peer digital cash.

An update to our apps have been made that should help performance when a single fedimint guardian is down. Please continue withdrawing out of the Freedom One and Bitcoin Principals federation. The LN gateways might be experiencing heavy load so try on chain if you need to. Getting plenty of reports of successful withdraws so far today, try again if you had issues before.
The fedimint team is working on short and long term solutions but for now it's best to withdraw and remove the federations. We have turned off lightning addresses for now too.

PSA: The functionality of multiple Fedimint federations is significantly degraded due to severe DNS issues.
It seems to be the case that some federation guardians have an XYZ domain that the DNS registrar has taken over. Freedom One and Bitcoin Principals appear to have one guardian offline due to this.
Unfortunately, despite the server and keys for these guardians being intact, there is no way for the DNS of a guardian to be swapped out after the fact. We became aware of this issue last week and then became aware that multiple federations are experiencing this: https://github.com/fedimint/fedimint/issues/5482/
Given the critical state of these federations, with one guardian out of four being permanently offline, it's essential that if you have funds in these federations, you should withdraw them immediately. Unfortunately, we're unaware of other public federations, so you must withdraw to another lightning or on-chain wallet.
From our experiences, intermittent/connectivity issues can occur with guardians, and this may result in errors if not all three remaining guardians are consistently online. No other guardian of these federations has XYZ or other domains like it. So, if you're having issues, please try again later.
Unfortunately, not much can be done on the Mutiny side, so we're removing the federation setup flow in the UI as a first step. Sorry for the inconvenience.

In 1.7.0, we've made a number of performance improvements, bug fixes, and new features, but here's the ones we're excited about the most:
- On chain fedimint support
- Transfer funds between federations
- Node operates in a web worker now, the UI should be quicker
If you have a federation added, all on chain deposits to Mutiny will go into there.
We have full send and receive support now, so this effectively gives you a unified balance with fedimint, allowing you to send or receive via onchain & lightning.
The Bitcoin Atlantis federation is shutting down at the end of the month. We now parse all of the metadata for federations and will display pop up warnings like this.

Included in this release is the ability to transfer funds from one federation to another to make this seamless.

It cuts down on potential channel closes and is also the funding mechanism for fedimint in general, since we don't yet have swaps from LN to fedimint.
It's also still complicated to get an exact inbound balance, as that is highly dependent on chain fees and the other LSP node. So this removes a lot of that friction.

It works great for both new and existing users alike. The idea is that it works in combination with your self custodial lightning channels if you have them.
When adding a federation, receives under 200k go into the federation. Spends come out of the federation first as well.

This really helps make sure that small valued payments do not get stuck and cause channel closures as well. This is huge if you've ever run into that.
At any time you can swap your federation balance to self custodial lightning. This is very useful if you've accumulated enough sats to justify opening a channel. We recommend around the 200k - 500k range.

There should be a swap icon next to your fedimint balance if there is one there. Right now it's just fedimint->LN swaps until we build a more comprehensive swap screen.
You can use your fedimint balance just as a normal balance too though. Funds spend out of the fedimint balance first and then LN balance if it is not enough.

Love to see it!

Specific notes can only be zapped on damus with a special script you have to import.

There's currently a bug with damus. Primal doesn't allow it on iOS. An unfortunate state of things for iOS users.
