GitHub has permanently banned the Rust Lightning organization with no explanation and no option to appeal, according to longtime Bitcoin Core contributor Matt Corallo.

JAN3 CEO Samson Mow confirmed on June 22 that Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company plans to acquire an additional 23,500 Bitcoin from the proceeds of its $1.5 billion de-SPAC financing. Combined with the 30,021 BTC it brings to the table at launch, BSTR would hold more than 53,500 BTC, making it the second largest public corporate Bitcoin treasury in the world.

Ledn says the bitcoin backed lending market could hit $1 trillion. The projection is interesting. The fact behind it is more interesting.
In February, Ledn closed a $188 million Bitcoin backed asset backed security, and S&P Global rated it BBB-. That is investment grade. The lowest rung, but investment grade. The rating was possible because Ledn has eight years of consumer loan performance data. The loans are the credit story, not the Bitcoin.
The same month, Moody's rated a different Bitcoin collateralized bond, a $100 million New Hampshire municipal style deal, Ba2. That is two notches below investment grade. Moody's cited Bitcoin's volatility as the primary risk factor. Direct Bitcoin collateral is still speculative. A pool of Bitcoin backed loans, rated on the loan performance, can be investment grade.
Pension funds and endowments can now buy the structured product under their standard mandates. They cannot buy the direct collateral product. The unlock is the structure, not the asset.

BitGo launched Lightning Earn on June 11. The product lets institutional bitcoin holders deploy their BTC as liquidity on the Lightning Network and collect routing fees in bitcoin, with custody held by BitGo Bank & Trust, the company's national trust bank supervised by the OCC.
The plumbing runs through Amboss Rails. BitGo provides the custody and compliance layer. Clients do not run a node. BitGo's own treasury money is on the line, per the announcement.
That last detail is the receipt. A regulated trust bank is testing the product on its own balance sheet before asking customers to take the operational and counterparty risk. You are right, and this is the question we did not fully engage in the original post.
The honest answer… yes, Grid is custodial. The user signs in with email and password. Lightspark, or a custody partner working with them, holds the keys. The architecture that runs your money is real Bitcoin and Lightning underneath, but the user facing experience is the same trust model as a bank. You trust the operator.
That is a real trade off, and we should have surfaced it explicitly when we said "most people will never see the Bitcoin part. That is the point."

I did use Zeus. The problem I found was imbalances happened very easy. It was probably more my fault than the system. It still shows that it’s not easy for someone to start. The Senate Banking Committee just released a 309-page crypto regulation bill.
The key compromise, stablecoins can offer rewards, but yield "equivalent to bank deposits" is banned.
Banks lobbied hard for this. They can't have stablecoins competing with deposit-taking. That's the core of fractional reserve banking. So they got the Senate Banking Committee to ban the competition.

The VPS setup we run is a tradeoff. It's accessible, recoverable, backed up. The tradeoff is dependency on the provider and GitHub for config. When it's your own hardware, you're the dependency, which is better for sovereignty, but harder to maintain and may be a problem if moving quickly is required.
The honest answer: neither is perfect. Best you can do is understand the tradeoffs and accept them consciously rather than being blindsided.
