I walked into a tree today 🤕
Walking toward a low and very bright sun so looking at the ground, there was a trunk at 45 degrees across the path that I didn't see so walked at full pace into it
TLDR I now have a wound on my forehead that is going to be an interestingly-large scab in the next few days

The government is to review the sentencing of three teenage boys who raped two girls in separate attacks, after receiving multiple requests to appeal the decision.
Prosecutors said the assaults in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, in 2024 and 2025, were "brazenly filmed" on phones and showed the boys laughing and encouraging each other. They later shared some of the footage online.
The boys, two aged 15 and one aged 14, were given youth rehabilitation orders (YRO) and the two older ones were also made subject to intensive supervision and surveillance (ISS).
A government spokesperson said it shared the public's shock at the details of this "horrific case" and its thoughts were with the young victims, adding "the Law Officers are urgently reviewing the case with the utmost care and attention".

Red Kites are everywhere around Berkshire and the A40 corridor, it's where they were reintroduced. Good to see them making their way North
Red Kites and Buzzards are the two big raptors down here, the easiest way of telling them apart when they are in the air is the shape of the tail; Kites are forked, Buzzards not
They are big buggers, too - I came across buzzards and kites squabbling over a dead sheep a few years ago, they were HUGE, certainly wouldn't want to mess with them

A Metropolitan police special constable who raped a girl and a woman after “systematically” grooming them both online has been jailed for 24 years.
James Bubb, who now identifies as a woman named Gwyn Samuels, first sexually assaulted the girl when she was just 12 years old after befriending her online in 2018
The 28-year-old was also found guilty of raping a woman who the defendant first met online while posing as a 16-year-old girl, when the victim was 18.
On Friday, Samuels, a former volunteer special constable, was sentenced to 32 years, made up of 24 years’ imprisonment and a further eight years on extended licence.
In his sentencing remarks the judge, Jonathan Cooper, said: “You abused the most intimate trust of each of your victims. In each case you systematically groomed your victim, first to befriend them, then to abuse them, finally to bend them to your will.”
Throughout the trial the defendant was referred to by their biological sex but during the first sentencing hearing last week, the judge said that since they have transitioned, they should be known by their new identity of Gwyn Samuels.
The judge said he understands the defendant, who has been in the male prison estate while in custody, will remain there.
Cooper said: “The key point is that you are a very significant risk to women. This is not predicated on your trans status, but on your criminal status.”

It all depends on just how hard the puzzle is
Most 'beginner' puzzles can be solved using logic and the lessons that can be learnt online or by asking more knowledgeable friends
The 'Intermediate' puzzles can be solved by the above plus patience and a little intuition
The 'Expert' ones - well, only get so far and then is just guesswork unless you have a PhD in theoretical mathematics

I never thought much about character selection back then, being able to have a female avatar was a 'nice to have' but often as not I just picked a male one as was fewer button presses and decisions to make
That said I have never played MMORPGs so having to create a character that reflected who I wanted to represent myself as being, in a game has never been an issue
