Of the 32 bills submitted to the community for funding that didn't receive full funding, the vast majority came from people who weren't willing to help others in the community. Therefore, the community declined to fund their bill including the largest of these 32 bills at $3,750.

The Biggest Little Farm followed us on IG yesterday (trailer below...worth the watch). EEEEEEK!!!
A few years ago, our CEO watched this movie and was inspired.
A couple looked at a broken system and dared to believe there was a better way. While the world was moving toward bigger, more industrial, more complicated agriculture, they moved in the opposite direction. They trusted nature. They trusted people. They trusted that healthy ecosystems could solve problems that massive institutions couldn't.
Most people thought they were crazy. That sounds familiar.
Today, their farm is thriving.
At CrowdHealth, we've always felt a kinship with their story.
Healthcare, like farming, has become increasingly centralized, complex, and disconnected from the people it was created to serve. We've been told that skyrocketing costs, opaque pricing, endless bureaucracy, and middlemen are simply the price of modern healthcare.
We don't believe that.

We've sent 43,734 bills to the Crowd for funding to date. I've personally and manually sent all but 5 of them to the Crowd (the 5 happened while I was on vacation). I see them all. I know how the Crowd is doing at all times. Many, probably most, people think this is a complete waste of a CEO's time. I disagree. Helping the Crowd pay your medical bills is the most important thing we do here and focusing on the most important thing is exactly what a CEO should be doing.

Last night we announced at Austin Bitcoin Club that we have integrated a Lightning wallet into the CrowdHealth app. Starting in early 2024 our Bitcoin Crowd will be able to pay their membership fees, fund each others health expenses, and pay their doctors through the Lightning network.
We need supply and demand. Therefore we are actively seeking medical practices that are interested in receiving Bitcoin as a payment method. We believe we can make it worth their while by driving highly sought after, non insurance, traffic to their practices.
As we build this database, and as our membership grows over time, we believe that even a small chunk of the $4.3T healthcare economy could serve as a beachhead for hyperbitcoinization in the US and a real alternative for doctors who want to break away from the tyranny of health insurance.

In our current system, the hospitals own your healthcare information. It’s a barrier to seeing physicians outside of their network.
We should be able to request the information, own it, and then ask the hospitals to erase it. Unfortunately, government‘s regulation requires hospitals to hold onto this for years.

Members were saving a significant amount so CH is now only invoicing all members (bitcoin or not) only what is needed for crowdfunding each month. The extra $ back in member’s pocket can still be used of course to buy bitcoin, or go out for a nice dinner, etc… we are still committed to hyper bitcoinionization and will be making an announcement soon

Our favorite story:
We had a member with a miscarriage that had complications requiring medical treatment.
We sent out the Crowdfunding request to our members to help with the bills.
A member responded: “Miscarriage is a part of my story. I know what this family is going through. I’d like to give more to that family than what you’ve asked.”
You would never do this with health insurance.
Our biggest differentiator from health insurance is that you are helping each other directly. You are not sending your money to a big insurance company to line executives pockets. You know exactly where your money is going and what it is being used for.

You’ll save 50% on your medical expenses if you:
Get labs at an independent lab
Get imaging at an imaging center
Get outpatient surgeries at a surgery center
Give birth at home or a birthing center
Take care of non life threatening injuries at an urgent care clinic/stand alone ER
Utilize virtual care

Two invoices per month
1: $50 per person is sent to CrowdHealth to pay the bills.
2: A crowdfunding request that, if accepted, is sent to another member who needs help paying bills. The timing of this invoice depends upon the bills that are submitted. We don’t touch this money. You are funding fellow community members.
Some will find two small payments inconvenient. We call it transparent and over the last 7,000 bills, it’s been an incredibly effective alternative to sending one huge payment directly to an insurance company (that may or may not decide to pay for your healthcare).
It’s the only way we can do it without touching your money and maintaining regulatory compliance.
