Also, the spending "cuts" are entirely illegal -- the money has already been appropriated.
I think on the whole, at some point (maybe today!), the markets will start responding realistically to the paralysis induced by such uncertainty and unpredictability (and extralegality).
You can't do real investment in this environment. But you can do a lot of grifting, I guess.

Spending time with liberals is double-edged.

I guess I don't see what we gain by making the distinction.
If somebody is openly planning to invade one's home but hasn't just yet, the courts and so on might make a distinction (one that matters to them), but to the person whose home is about to be invaded, the utility is less clear.

I think we diverge a bit here, it's true.
I think they're planning to do exactly this sort of thing -- censuring Al Green is a little gesture. And let's not forget they sanctioned a coup attempt (which only sort of failed) then rewarded the foot-soldiers with pardons.
In Texas (and elsewhere) Republican officials are saying it out loud now that their ultimate goal would be to eliminate Democrats, not just from gov't but entirely.

My first contention with that excerpt would be over whether MAGA takes as its "immediate objective" the "overthrow of electoral democracy". I believe that it is. I think its leading lights are comfortable with plodding along with a tightly managed illiberal democracy, but only so long as it's absolutely necessary. The goal seems to be to dispense with democratic ideals (and forms) altogether.
The distinction here doesn't seem like a difference.

I would also note that it's entirely plausible that nobody's "neutralizing" fascists in part because so many avowed liberals tut-tut and scold people who even peacefully protest (see Al Green) to the point one knows they'll never support any kind of escalation.

I know your question is aimed elsewhere, but to clarify my own comment -- I'm talking about the "why don't the Democrats do something [beyond lawsuits, legislative jousting, and press releases] about Trump" folks, not the "why don't the Democrats do something [about their aging leadership, thin bench, flagging local/state operations, & waning support among working people]".
Latter seems reasonable to me. Former suggests a confusion about what electoral parties are and do.
