Here you are describing the US-American culture to some extent.
My generation was particularly targeted by the message that things other than being a wife and mother are more desirable for women.
And it permeates my culture enough still that even just saying this could draw ire from people who see that as an attack on women.
I believe this shift in a culture was part of a revolution that is still being attempted that is kind of like the "four olds" from China.
Do away with the old ways. Women can work. They don't need to have children. And this benefits the state.
In the US, it's no longer a choice, really. Without two incomes, life becomes very difficult for a family.
Some of the women of my generation gave away the most amazing thing humanity can do to be able to be a slave to the system. And it was called freedom liberation.

The thought that the US is doing these things entirely out of stupidity is probably the prevailing thought, and certainly the message in all the various Lego movies, etc. Now, that could be possible, but at the same time, it's probably the less likely one. People who like Trump (still somehow) are losing trust in him because he COMPLETELY reversed on "no war". People who hate him make the mistake in thinking that he (and, more importantly, this administration) is just an idiot and take things at face value.
I would suggest what's happening right now has been a plan for a very long time and I would bet $100 that it hasn't just been Trump's posse doing the planning.
The military objectives which have been said over and over: destroy navy, deplete rockets, destroy nuclear program, destroy leadership... These have been fairly well executed, but these are not the only objectives during this action. Not even the main ones.
I have asked before why is Scott Bessent talking so much?
There is something much bigger in play here.
One theory could be that the U.S. is basically choking off the energy supply to the world establishing viable energy supplies in the western hemisphere. And then there's the NATO angle. The US has been projecting power on behalf of NATO for the better part of 100 years. It seems to me this administration is setting up the stage to actually have our old allies ask us to leave and then I wouldn't be surprised if we did exactly that. And the conflict is much more pronounced for the eastern hemisphere than the one the U.S. is in. Sadly, this may also not be an accident.
Cuba, Greenland, areas in Central and South America, Canada, all this bluster. Why? Well, it fits into this thought. This is our hemisphere. This is our empire.
Why would we want energy/Chem/fertilizer to be cut off? Perhaps to force populations into the corner where they have no choice but to take things like digital ID so they can then have universal Basic Income and eat again. All issued in a digital dollar straight to your phone, et cetera, et cetera.
When an enormous swath of the people can't feed themselves anymore, they're going to line up to get the things that they're rightly fearful of currently.
I believe it's possible that while the often ridiculous President of the United States is broadcasting constant confusion and chaos, the actual plan that has been in the works for quite some time is rolling along just as they would wish.
I don't think it's likely that this is just one big blunder. I do think it's likely it's one of the most risky gambits that has been played in probably centuries.
Most nations outside of China, at least, are not positioning themselves to avoid the inevitable collapse. They're positioning themselves to survive and profit from it. At least the smart ones would be. But I don't know who's who.

This is exactly right. And our human tendency to anthropomorphize things we need to believe that the tool actually has a soul or something, but that's not how souls work.
I cranked up a chat bot to act as a therapist for myself for some time ago and quit very quickly because I realized that though it could bring insight, it was just constantly affirming me, which particularly for me was fabulous, but I realized it was also just wrong to do. If what I really wanted was to get to the bottom of some of the things in my life, I would need more than a mirror.
Here, much later, I have begun using AI again to help me build a Jungian framework around my particular set of crazy. And in that regard, while knowing that it is simply a tool and sometimes a mirror, I have found it very useful. It's definitely not human though.

Your Verizon number can be also using IP-based services for MMS. But where you set that up is usually specific to your carrier OS, etc. For me, for example, I have an option in the app that goes with my carrier, which is Mint, because I'm a cheapo.

Yes, I answered your earlier question with some ideas, but you confirm here that you are enabling Wi-Fi, and messages can go over Wi-Fi under the right circumstances. There's more than one way that could happen.

So there are possibilities here.
First of all, if you are correct that you have received and sent messages while in airplane mode, then you have to have another network connection somewhere and the most likely (only one likely) would be Wi-Fi, which can be turned on in airplane mode.
You say that you sent and received SMS, which is a specific protocol. That should be impossible. But if you mean that more generically and that you sent a text message and received a text message, there are other protocols that can use Wi-Fi. Like RCS.
And it is possible that you are using a VoIP like layer for your texting if that is enabled by your phone and carrier, etc. SMS over IP gateways can be used, but you would certainly know if you would set something like that up.
So chances are, you are using a messaging app that will fall back to IP texting one way or another, or you're using a protocol that does that natively like RCS.

I think this is where the discussion becomes very interesting, because almost unbelievably it is following a predictable divide.
People who value community highly enough to feel it is righteous to ask others to make sacrifices for the community based on what the community wants those sacrifices to be.
And
People who value individual liberty, individual property, and personal responsibility above what the community needs while believing that adhering to those core values is the best way to serve the community in the end.

And you should understand, I think I have a reasonable grasp on why you would jump to such conclusions, because you've seen it over and over and over again, just like Gloria saw the shitheads and all the abuse that she was having to take, some of which was vile.

That demands a fairly complex answer, but since they use the blind oracle, it's worth thinking through.
My short answer is, I think it is unlikely to pose any attack surface unless there's something really wonky about the blind oracle. And even then, I think if one was using a BIP-39 passphrase, you'd be in pretty decent shape.

Do at least take a quick glance at Reaper if you haven't already. It is in my opinion one of the technically finest audio programs created and I do believe there is a native Linux version.
Smidge of a learning curve, but if you ask the question, can it be done? The answer is almost always, yes.

There is actually quite a bit of great audio software on Linux.
Reaper is, in my opinion, a top-end DAW.
And you may curl your lip at this, having seen you mention Ableton 😁, but Bitwig has a native implementation. (i'm a bitwig fan, but I'm sure if I had been using Ableton for years it would be a very hard switch even as similar as they are.)
But the devil is in the smaller details for this one, and I think you mentioned your Apollo. Let me know if you want to sell it. I think you have access, therefore, to some of the best DSP available and also fabulous preamps and converters. And I know Linux is Linux, but Thunderbolt is a really weird move at this point I don't know why UAD did that. But then again, again, I personally would think I could get Thunderbolt working with Linux, but I've never tried.
But it's the little stuff, the software instruments, the hardware compatibility, the plugins.
And, I have occasionally given it a shot because I am a curmudgeon who believes one should be able to make great sounding stuff without every single whizbang tool and indeed you can, but you can also build a house with a rock and wooden nails.
Finally, Linux's audio subsystems are some of the most convoluted software ever created by human beings. Alsa/pipewire can be configured to do just about anything and do it well that that configuration may kill you in the process.
I do praise pipewire. It did take Linux audio from being something designed just for tan colored computers to something that could do anything I wanted it to do, but it's just so damn complicated.

I've been running Linux since the 90s on any machine that I use that I'm not doing audio on. All my laptops.
You'll get there. It's bumpy, but it's solid as hell. Eventually you'll wonder why you didn't try it earlier.
I started with Slackware and ended up on Arch. (did LFS and Jin2 along the way? I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.) EndeavourOS is solid. If you stick with Pop, I hope you work it out. I hear good things about that one.

This is an interesting question because seemingly unlike that abomination Zcash, this is not some planned pump and dump. Or at least if somebody's trying to do that they're doing a terribly bad job. Because there's no hype.
One contributor to what we are seeing is almost certainly the lack of monero being on so many exchanges, and particularly certain exchanges.
This has two effects. One is it reduces the ease of liquidity. Makes it harder to buy and sell. That friction causes price swings and differentials you can see this on some of the decentralized markets, the narrow prices can have a big spread and they can be north or south of what's happening at the exchanges that do handle it.
But then your next question should be, if that was the case, then why, when it was on so many more exchanges, was it so much closer to simply holding value for ages upon ages and not moving much.
Monero was being sold short and very often by certain exchanges. So think of it this way.
You're a big, let's say, Asian exchange, and you trade in Monero. And 95% of your customers just leave their coins on your exchange.
When someone buys Monero from you, you have a treasure trove of it to send them. You can just take coins out of your bucket because probably your other customers aren't going to all of a sudden try to take ownership of their coins.

No one knows what you hold. They can't even try to figure it out. So you can short sell all day long and no one can see it.
But what happens when too many of your customers choose to do withdrawals for some reason or another? And I would posit that that exact thing happened multiple times.
Well, the exchanges guilty of this dark trading would shut down Monero withdrawals... " for maintenance! ". Of course, they will still allow you to sell your XMR to them. And they'll credit you if you want to buy some.
But this is why certain exchanges would not allow withdrawals for sometimes weeks and weeks and weeks on end because they were rebuilding their stack.
So, if you've read this far, then here's the punch line. There's not as much of that going on anymore. So, if there is a real demand for the best-in-class private on the base layer cryptocurrency, then it gets expensive.
That's at least one reason. I would say probably the main one.
