There's something about BIP110 that I think a lot of people overlook.
I remember when Core 30 hadn't been merged yet. Many of us went to the PR and overwhelmingly signaled no by downvoting it. It was obvious there was significant opposition. Then came the public debates between both sides. Those debates clearly showed that this wasn't some fringe disagreement,it was a real concern within the Bitcoin community.
Any reasonable person would have said, "Let's pause, talk this through, and find some common ground." After all, we're all on the same team: Bitcoin.
But that didn't happen. Core chose to merge the change anyway.
So when people now say filters don't matter or that they're harmless, my question is: if they weren't that important, why the rush? Why not take the time to understand why so many people were upset? Why not educate those who disagreed if the technical case was truly that strong?
Instead, the message many people received was: "We've decided this is the right thing to do, and if you're not technical enough, your opinion doesn't matter."
That mindset goes against the values Bitcoin was built on. Satoshi didn't challenge centralized authority just for developers to become a new authority that decides what should and shouldn't happen.
That's why many people said no to what they saw as Core's increasingly centralized decision-making, and why BIP110 became more than just a technical proposal. It became a stand against that direction.

I ve been thinking on how people could use ecash tokens physically and securely in a doomsday scenario where internet and electricity is off and tap to pay seems to be the solution. How?
1. You have a doomsday app that lets people send in their ecash inexchange of an encrypted representation that token using public key cryptography.
2. The encrypted token is then loaded on to a card for use.
3. Marchants and other people have devices that can verify the authenticity of the token while the exchange them.
4. When internet is back, they can then redeem their ecash using the same doomsday app that gave them the encrypted tokens.
I don't really know if this is a good idea. But my problem was " how can we exchange ecash tokens physically for prolonged period of no internet while trusting the validity of the token without access to the mint?"

War is never a net good! I run a mint and i can assure you that with ecash rug pulls are actually difficult since they are multiple mints and one can spread their bitcoin across many mints. But you can't deny the fact that ecash has privacy benefits and can be used without the internet nor does it need to be transfered digitally. That is a net positive!

Yes! Most people think of mints being custodial is a risk but what they don't understand is that you can distribute the ecash accross multiple mints which reduces the risk of being rugged by a tone.

Why bitcoin core push for something so contestated? Have they become so powerful that they don't need feedback? Why let bitcoiner split like this over a simple OP_RETURN size?
These are some of the questions a non technical person may ask themselves
To future proof bitcoin from changes like this i really think that every team needs a non technical person in the decision makers because technical people usually have this "let's enhance this. Let's improve this." Mindset that is not always the best thing. Sometimes you just have to leave things the way they are if they already work the way it is.
What's fascinating about SATOSHI, who ever they are is the depth they had on ECONOMICS, MATHS, POWERLAW AND MUCH MORE and code was just a tool. Because each time you think you've found an issue with bitcoin, SATOSHI already solved it. Its just that we just have to wait to let things play out to finally see how genuis this person was.
There for, in my view, bitcoin just needs security fixes from existential threats like quantum or maybe AI and not making unecessary changes.
