Bluesky has experienced significant and recurring service disruptions, including major outages in April 2026 attributed to Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks and internal infrastructure saturation, such as exhausting ephemeral ports during high-traffic events. These incidents resulted in widespread feed failures, login errors, and downtime for millions of users across the US, UK, and Europe.
While Nostr is often cited by users as more resilient due to its fully decentralized relay architecture—which lacks a central server to attack—Bluesky’s outages highlight the "growing pains" of scaling a new platform. Bluesky’s reliance on a mix of volunteer-run nodes, cloud storage, and centralized upstream providers creates single points of failure that centralized DDoS mitigation and server load management must constantly address.

Bitcoin is not a sound money either, as it does not help in sustaining the economy, reduces the velocity of money, and increases poverty. Its only benefits are for early holders. What we need is programmatically taxable money with a fixed supply that increases the velocity of money and uses taxes to provide universal basic income and fund other public goods.

Why nostr don't catch up as bluesky. There are very few users in nostr
Nostr has struggled to match Bluesky’s user growth primarily due to a high barrier to entry and niche positioning, whereas Bluesky offered a polished, centralized-like experience that appealed to mainstream users fleeing Twitter.
Community and Positioning
Bluesky benefited from strong press coverage as a Twitter spinoff and attracted a broad demographic, including digital artists, activists, and general social media users. Nostr is strongly associated with the Bitcoin community and anti-censorship ideology, which many perceive as a niche "Web3" project. This positioning has saturated its core base of crypto-enthusiasts and disenfranchised Twitter users, while simultaneously alienating broader audiences who may view cryptocurrency as controversial or complex.
Technical and Social Dynamics
While Nostr offers superior flexibility for developers and true censorship resistance, it lacks the intuitive moderation tools and trust-and-safety teams that Bluesky implemented to retain mainstream users. Additionally, Nostr’s user experience often suffers from fragmented content and a lack of historical post storage on default relays, which can deter casual users who expect a stable, Twitter-like feed. Bluesky’s growth was also driven by social dynamics, where users migrated simply because their existing communities were already there, creating a network effect that Nostr has yet to replicate at scale.
