Some recent posts on Microsoft Dinosaurs made me curious how they created its custom, textured title bar in Windows 3.x.
Was Microsoft using some secret API to do it, or was it a visual trick (e.g. hiding the real title bar and draw a fake, textured one)
Turns out there is no "SetCaptionBarTexture()" API or anything, but it is possible to draw on the title bar itself at certain moments. Not super documented (MS wanted to promote a UI standard), but not a real hack either. I mean, I can do it.
