I know someone who works for #GitLab and yesterday was the last day for anyone to be voluntarily dismissed.

every chance you have to stop is a chance to save yourself from further embarrassment that you kept going
the original Dune is one of my favorite books ever, and the next couple were absolutely at least worth reading, but it's just... it's just not worth it

(FYI if it's Americas-only I *think* you'll be OK? But `BST` and `CST` and such are not guaranteed-unique, there's overlap, which is why everything uses explicit UTC offsets or the long region names nowadays.)

Also only one of the conferences you pinged (pung?) provides streaming as an option; if you don’t have a way to view it online, you are missing out on a lot of immunocompromised folks, much less people that can’t physically make it for other reasons.
Hard to claim to be human-centric and also automatically exclude an entire class of humans from participating…

they already got pretty close a couple times even before musk bought it, but definitely immediately after, it just took a while to start manifesting in big enough numbers to notice
each wave of “welcome, twitter users!” that washes across the fediverse and bluesky is bigger than the last, but they’ve been happening for a long time

The thing that makes it extra frustrating is watching everyone shit on Olympic Breaking and treat it like it was all a joke, even though they didn’t actually watch any of the actual competition. Every other athlete there did an *amazing* job and it was a delight.
We watched all the qualifiers and the finals, it was 99% riveting, with her performances being the only thing that didn’t fit in. (To be fair, hers was riveting in that “watching a car crash in realtime” kind of way.)
