Yeah I think for this one old machine with the node a server version would just be better. As a matter of fact, I've got it in a room on the other side of the house, laptop lid closed, plugged to a TV, and I basically only access it from my living room desktop via Remmina anyway xD

It's an awful situation that I 100% pin on Germany's decisions these past 25-30 years, starting with Gerhard Schöder who shamelessly even went on to be a literal employee on Putin's payroll after losing to Merke. Who, let's not get confused here, is another pro-Putin anti-European activist who only doubled down on Schröder's policies.

So, for the last month I have tried to use SilentLink for the sole purpose of having a US phone number for banking. Very simple task: give me a valid number where I can receive those stupid last-century sms thingies for 2FA.
Result: absolute and abject failure. The eSIM supposedly installed correctly (you just have to scan a QR code in the end duh), it would catch signal (and almost instantly drain the balance, but that's another story), but the only thing I needed it to do, sms, it simply would not.
So I reach out to their customer service. They ask for the link to my order that they sent upon payment, which is the way these people handle stuff, since there are no accounts per se. But it was broken.
I was able to open it the first time, so thankfully I had a copy that I had printed into a PDF just in case, but after that it wouldn't work.
So now I had to "prove" that I had even paid for the service to begin with, by disclosing the BTC address I had used. Annoying.
Then, they admitted the link was broken, so I thought that may have been it. They gave me a new one, I uninstalled the eSIM. Installed again. This one now had no number... Data worked, signal worked. Just no phone number. So no sms. "Just wait for a while". A few hours later... phone number comes up. But no sms. So finally I asked for a refund which was the only efficient part they did. Of course they refunded me in BTC at yesterday's price, so I lost more than 10% of my sats, plus the balance I had topped up with.
But fuck it, my mental sanity and getting a working service are way more important.
So I am once again asking for your financial -- I mean, your knowledgeable support. How the fuck do I get a virtual US phone number that can receive sms? #askNostr #ask_Nostr

I'm in my mid-40's. The ways we interacted with girls back when I was a teenager, which resulted in a never sufficient but satisfactory enough amount of sex, would get a boy today in all sorts of trouble.
