Zero approved treatments. The best modern medicine can offer is "supportive care," which means hope your body figures it out. Why have we not been studying treatments? Hantavirus is an RNA virus. Ivermectin blocks the nuclear import pathway that RNA viruses exploit to replicate. Peer-reviewed studies published in Antiviral Research, Nature, and the Journal of Virology show broad-spectrum antiviral activity against dengue, Zika, West Nile, chikungunya, and other RNA viruses. Three people are dead on a quarantined cruise ship. Five more are sick. The WHO has confirmed it's the Andes strain, the only hantavirus known to spread person to person. US health authorities are now monitoring passengers in three states. A Nobel Prize-winning drug with a decades-long safety profile and a documented antiviral mechanism exists. No one is claiming it's a proven cure. But when the fatality rate is 40% and there is literally no approved treatment, the question is simple: why isn't anyone studying it? h/t Mary Talley Bowden MD https://blossom.primal.net/475214ce934d123cbbe743566509a057e48731f8f9d8f73279209764f1879db3.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC A federal judge has unsealed a purported suicide note written by Jeffrey Epstein after the New York Times petitioned the court to release it. The note had been sealed for six years. Epstein's former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, says he found the note inside a graphic novel after Epstein's first suicide attempt in July 2019. The note reads: "They investigated me for months. FOUND NOTHING!!! It is a treat to be able to choose one's time to say goodbye. Watcha want me to do. Bust out cryin!! NO FUN. NOT WORTH IT!!" It has no signature and has not been authenticated. After that July attempt, Epstein told jail officials Tartaglione had attacked him and that he was not suicidal. A Bureau of Prisons evaluation deemed him "low risk," quoting him saying "it would be crazy" to take his life. The watch was removed. He was dead weeks later. The Justice Department says it had never seen the note. No copy appeared in the millions of Epstein documents the agency has released. How it ended up inside a graphic novel, authenticated only by the cellmate's lawyers, and sealed from the public for six years raises more questions than it answers. https://blossom.primal.net/54d259792cc8a844d3a73285a0d563294217866c412e3fe916c38e4da4b20050.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC "If you're working on something that they don't like and a user of your software could do something with it that we deem bad, we will come after you." - (leamuirleyn) The Samourai precedent puts every Bitcoin developer at risk. https://blossom.primal.net/1d08fd13667adaf1d92682b987e0b067d6ea63f2226dbd040800b2d465c41d00.mp4 npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC VanEck Head of Digital Assets Research Matthew Sigel says $1 million Bitcoin is the base case over the next several years. https://blossom.primal.net/0a345d33960e0c45083b72c5c20809486a39b1ca7d74acd8ebac4e25be8eb5f8.mp4 npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC The new @npub1tke…wral dropped with a built-in secure screen and we're giving one away 🟠 No seed phrase. 2-of-3 multisig. They're also doubling Claude Code rate limits across all paid plans and raising API rate limits for their Opus models. This is the latest move in an escalating compute arms race. Beyond SpaceX, Anthropic has locked in a 5 GW agreement with Amazon, another 5 GW deal with Google and Broadcom, $30 billion in Azure capacity through Microsoft and NVIDIA, and a $50 billion infrastructure investment with Fluidstack. They also expressed interest in developing "multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute" with SpaceX, data centers in space. Nearly half of all U.S. data centers planned for 2026 have been canceled or delayed. Out of 12 GW announced, only about 5 GW is under active construction. The bottleneck isn't GPUs anymore, it's power. Transformer shortages, grid wait times stretching 3-5 years, tariffs on electrical equipment, and community opposition are stalling builds nationwide. AI data centers are projected to consume up to 12% of national electricity demand, up from 4%. That's why Anthropic's approach is so aggressive, buying access to facilities that already have power rather than building from scratch. The companies that win the AI race may not be the ones with the best models. They may be the ones who locked up the most electricity. https://blossom.primal.net/4466f3af1891e949e61dd0432f0005cc00909fb5dff07595c8d73be4444b76f2.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Goldman says 95% of enterprises are getting zero return on $30-40B in GenAI spending. Goldman's own Exhibit 9 shows consumer AI demand growing 12x by 2030. Both are true. Here's what it means: Enterprise AI is failing because legacy companies don't know how to use these tools. They're spending millions bolting chatbots onto workflows designed in 2005 and wondering why ROI is zero. The real AI wave is startups who build from scratch. Three people doing the work of thirty. No legacy systems. No "AI transformation consultants." Just raw efficiency gains from day one. Meanwhile, the demand side is undeniable. Token economics turn positive H1 2026. Consumer agents are shifting from chat sessions to always-on. The hockey stick is already forming. The question is who captures the value. Open-source LLMs and agent frameworks are commoditizing inference. If small businesses and individuals can route around hyperscalers, the value moves from chips to applications. The market is overpricing hyperscaler equity as if they have traditional big tech moats. They might not. And the backstop nobody's talking about: Trump invoked the Defense Production Act for AI. The federal government is treating this as critical infrastructure. Will there be misallocation? Yes. But a full bust is hard to sell when demand outstrips supply and the government won't let it fail. Enterprise AI is a bubble. Consumer AI is a boom. Goldman proved both in the same report. https://blossom.primal.net/41b737e010ccc33b20ff58b91c18f8021b8a6a555f18475b28eb9891e2c6ad5f.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Congressman Thomas Massie visits PubKey. https://blossom.primal.net/e769cb8afb6a102cd3f44cda62f443de7d095b38eae2d0ef65df95bbfc85a136.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC President Trump announces a short-term pause of "Project Freedom" in the Strait of Hormuz at the request of Pakistan and other countries. https://blossom.primal.net/5b088a6f6295ce907ecd6a20cf98607c7d7590d1584bd4d7a9ad9fa11abf22b3.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Kraken's parent company Payward is suing former custody partner Etana and its CEO, alleging a "Ponzi-like" scheme that misappropriated more than $25 million in client funds. According to the complaint filed today in Colorado federal court, Etana commingled custodial assets, spent them on operating expenses and risky investments, and falsely reported balances as intact. When Kraken attempted to withdraw $25 million in reserve funds in April 2025, Etana allegedly stalled with fabricated reconciliation issues. It didn't have the money. Payward claims at least $16 million was funneled into promissory notes from Seabury Trade Capital, which defaulted. Etana also allegedly used client assets to run a forex hedging strategy while pocketing the returns. Throughout, account dashboards continued showing customer balances as fully secure. Colorado regulators issued a cease-and-desist in 2025. Etana entered court-supervised liquidation in November. Not your keys, not your coins. Oshi just dropped the most rigorous data we've seen on Bitcoin payments. They analyzed 40,000+ customers across 7 merchants in food, health, and skincare. The findings demolish every "Bitcoin payments aren't worth the setup effort" argument. Bitcoin loyalty members have 3x higher lifetime value than non-members. Their repeat purchase rate is 66% vs 27%. They average 3.7 purchases vs 1.6 for everyone else. And despite being the minority of customers, loyalty members generate 57% of total revenue. The revenue multiplier ranged from $5.24 to $22.14 per $1 of rewards at a 1% reward rate. Across 7 merchants. Statistically significant with 6 correction layers applied. P-values from <0.001 to 0.030. This is not anecdotal. The infrastructure already exists. Oshi integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, Square, BTCPay Server, and Zaprite. Reward rates run 1-5% of purchase value. No platform fee. Bitcoin 2026 had 800,000 merchants in attendance. The technology is mature. The data is now conclusive. The only thing missing is small business operators waking up to the fact that the orange-pilled customer is the best customer in the world. Bitcoin merchants are still thinking in fiat terms. They see volatility and miss the customer quality. The companies that figure this out first are going to dominate their categories. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the shift happened because Iran bombed its own Gulf neighbors during the conflict. Countries that were "somewhat permissive" with Iranian regime money suddenly became cooperative. So far, the U.S. has seized nearly $500 million in Iranian cryptocurrency. It is also freezing IRGC retirement funds held abroad and tracking regime-linked real estate worldwide. Iran's currency is down 60-70% against the dollar. Its largest bank collapsed in December. Several took only a handgun. The missing include a retired Air Force general who led a $2.2 billion weapons research program, a retired Los Alamos nuclear weapons engineer, a government contractor with top security clearance at a nuclear stockpile facility, and an aerospace engineer connected to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Robinson argues if quantum computing ever becomes a real threat to Bitcoin, the network may need to respond with an emergency soft fork that freezes spending from vulnerable addresses. Freezing vulnerable addresses would stop quantum attackers from draining wallets, but it would also lock out the legitimate owners. PACTs would attempt to solve this by using zero-knowledge proofs to let holders secretly timestamp their knowledge of a private key. The timestamp is generated offchain and anonymously, without revealing address ownership or moving any funds. If a freeze ever happened, a holder who generated a PACT beforehand could use it to prove they knew the private key before any quantum computer could have derived it, separating them from an attacker. Robinson says dormant Bitcoin addresses would be the most exposed under this scenario. Wallets belonging to early miners, long-term holders, and what he estimates as Satoshi Nakamoto's 1.1 million BTC haven't moved in years. Their owners may not be monitoring developments or in a position to upgrade. He frames PACTs as a preparatory measure rather than a complete solution. From his paper: adopting PACTs now "would help give holders as much time as possible to secure their coins against an emergency sunset, while allowing us to leave the more difficult decisions, including whether a sunset is necessary or desirable, until later." The catch: holders would need to generate a PACT before quantum computers arrive or before any emergency fork kicks in. Anyone who doesn't act in time would risk permanently losing access to their coins under this framework. https://blossom.primal.net/4dce56df7dc23491fe67a8e1f0ffe70f951df1dfda9e5e7c2f8d9886ec61943a.png npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) have finalized a compromise on stablecoin yield, clearing the way for the Clarity Act to move forward in the Senate Banking Committee. The deal bans rewards offered "in a manner that is economically or functionally equivalent to the payment of interest or yield on an interest-bearing bank deposit." Companies could still offer rewards tied to stablecoins, but only if those rewards pass a regulatory test proving they aren't functioning like bank deposit interest. The compromise also directs regulators to develop a new stablecoin disclosure regime and define a list of permissible reward activities. Stablecoin yield has been the central holdup for the Clarity Act for months. Banks argued that stablecoins offering 5-6% yields were directly competing with traditional savings accounts outside the banking regulatory framework. Tillis says he will push for the bill to enter markup after the May recess. Separately, Tillis expressed support for Senator Cynthia Lummis' framework to protect non-custodial software developers from prosecution under 1960s-era money transmitting statutes, drawing a legal line between developers who write open-source code and entities that actually control customer funds. https://blossom.primal.net/98c1ca837e3c6dbe61d3bcfef2ad03fa8da4a21a08c71dffa71e7731b5aeb967.png npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Saylor: "Everything gets too big. That single sentence from @npub12rv…85vg , the creator of the Cashu ecash protocol, just unlocked the biggest scaling breakthrough Bitcoin has had in years. The reason ecash scaling has been limited to small community mints is because running a larger one makes you a money transmitter. Calle's solution: non-custodial Cashu mints running inside hardware enclaves. The bitcoin keys are generated inside the enclave and never leave it. The mint operator literally cannot access them. Even with full admin access to the server, they cannot steal the bitcoin. Remove the custodial barrier and the design space explodes. Public organizations, businesses, community groups can all run mints without taking on custodial liability. The security model is battle-tested. ACINQ already uses the same approach with AWS Nitro Enclaves to protect their massive Lightning node holding hundreds of millions in BTC. The historical lineage is what gets me. In 2004, Hal Finney built RPOW (Reusable Proofs of Work) using IBM's secure cryptographic coprocessor. The server was "more trustworthy than an ordinary bank" because the hardware itself guaranteed the software hadn't been tampered with. Finney's system wasn't tied to an existing currency. Calle's is. Cashu ecash backed by Bitcoin, running in a modern enclave, is RPOW's spiritual successor. Except this time it's built on the hardest money in human history. The honest caveats: this doesn't reduce risk to zero. The biggest practical risk is denial of service. The operator could turn the mint off. But since they can't steal the bitcoin, there's no financial incentive to do so. We're getting closer to having everything we want: privacy, ease of use, and reduced custodial risk, all on Bitcoin rails. Hal Finney's vision, finally realized. https://blossom.primal.net/3d1b2c699a83ad98fd5f9ed6ef32a6385acea4413aea17464350bb6667319f8e.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC US national debt just surpassed the size of the entire economy for the first time since World War II. Goldman Sachs is forecasting a 4.9% DRAM undersupply in 2026, the worst deficit in over 15 years. The cause: every major AI company on earth is panic-buying memory chips. Out of 12 GW of AI data center capacity announced for this year, only about 5 GW is actually under construction. The rest is stalled. The bottleneck isn't money. Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft have committed over $650 billion in AI infrastructure spending. The bottleneck is power. The US power grid can't keep up. Lead times for high-voltage transformers have stretched from 12-18 months pre-2020 to 3-5 years today. A single missing transformer or piece of switchgear can halt an entire project. Data centers are being built in 18 months but the electrical infrastructure they need takes 60 months to deliver. Tariffs are making it worse. A significant share of power delivery equipment comes from China. With tariffs adding 15-25% cost increases on critical components, projects that were already tight on budget are getting pushed back or killed entirely. The pipeline gap extends far beyond this year. For 2027, only 6.3 GW of 21.5 GW announced has broken ground. Through 2032, more than 50 GW of announced capacity lacks firm completion dates. Even OpenAI's $500 billion Stargate project has seen no significant physical progress as of April. Community opposition is growing too. Residents in Virginia, Georgia, and Texas are pushing back on water usage, noise, and local grid strain. Projects are being canceled at the county level. The AI demand is real. A researcher ran a variant of Shor's algorithm on a publicly accessible quantum computer against a 15-bit ECC key. The headlines followed, 6.9 million BTC exposed, $2.5 trillion at risk, the window is closing. Bitcoin developer (jamesob) pointed out what the headlines leave out. Like every other public application of Shor's algorithm to date, this one involves classical pre-computation that encodes the solution into the quantum circuit before it runs. The quantum computer isn't solving the hard problem. It's executing an algorithm on a problem that's already been worked out on a normal computer first. It's a demonstration, not a break. Project Eleven is a post-quantum security startup that raised $20 million in January at a $120 million valuation. Their investors include Castle Island Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Variant, and Balaji Srinivasan. They sell post-quantum security tools. They created the Q-Day Prize bounty. They awarded it. Then they used the result to market urgency around the very threat their product exists to solve. The gap between 15 bits and the 256 bits Bitcoin actually uses is a factor of 2^241. Current quantum hardware runs at roughly 1,000 qubits. Even the most optimistic estimates for a real 256-bit attack require between 10,000 and 500,000 physical qubits with error correction breakthroughs that don't exist yet. Quantum risk to Bitcoin is real on a long enough timeline. But when the company sounding the alarm is the same company selling the solution, and awarding its own prizes to generate the headlines, it's worth asking whether the timeline justifies the urgency, or whether the urgency justifies the valuation. https://blossom.primal.net/5c519d9093c07ee937763dd414b4533f11184f7879260c1c9fb566ef9c7ccf28.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Peter Thiel sits down with Milei. Claude saves memories to a filesystem it can read and write with bash and code execution, the same tools it already uses for agentic tasks. Memories can be exported, managed via API, and audited with full version history. The enterprise angle is where it gets interesting. Memory stores can be shared across multiple agents with scoped permissions, an org-wide store can be read-only while per-user stores allow writes. Multiple agents can work concurrently against the same store without overwriting each other. Early results from teams already using it: Rakuten cut first-pass agent errors by 97%. The partner list: Tinder, Zoom, DocuSign, Shopify, Okta, AWS, and Vercel. Altman opened by saying we're heading to a world where AI generates more content than humans. Pantera Capital says we've already crossed that threshold. World's answer is an iris-scanning device called the Orb that creates a unique cryptographic ID proving you're a real person. 18 million people across 160 countries have already verified. Tinder is rolling out "verified human" badges in the U.S. after a Japan pilot. Zoom built a feature called "Deep Face" that verifies the person on a video call isn't a deepfake. DocuSign is adding proof-of-human checks to digital signatures. Shopify is enabling verified-human commerce. The most significant announcement is AgentKit, infrastructure that lets AI agents carry cryptographic proof they're acting on behalf of a verified human. Okta built an agent delegation system on top of it. The problem World is solving is real. This is why Bitcoin exists. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company "acts immediately and decisively" when links to sanctioned entities or criminal networks are identified. To date, Tether has cooperated with 340+ law enforcement agencies across 65 countries, supported over 2,300 cases, and frozen more than $4.4 billion in assets. They frame this as a feature. In their own words: "Public blockchains give investigators and issuers something cash cannot. A visible trail. Transactions can be followed, wallets can be flagged, and assets can be frozen before they are moved further." Stablecoins are programmable dollars with a kill switch. And the entity holding that switch cooperates with the US government on demand. Here's the part that should make everyone uncomfortable: the US government's posturing about banning CBDCs is a misdirection. There is no functional difference between a government-issued CBDC with account-level freeze capabilities and a government that can call Tether and have $344 million frozen within hours. The CBDC ban lets politicians claim they're protecting financial freedom while the actual surveillance and control infrastructure gets built through regulated stablecoin issuers instead. It always starts with the easy cases. Sanctioned entities, terrorist financing, fraud that nobody will publicly defend. But the tooling doesn't stay pointed at the easy cases. It never does. Operation Chokepoint started with payday lenders and ended with legal gun shops losing their bank accounts. The freeze capability that targets the Lazarus Group today gets aimed at politically inconvenient actors tomorrow. That's not speculation. It's the documented pattern of every financial surveillance power ever granted to a government. Bitcoin is a bearer instrument. No CEO to call. No company to subpoena. No kill switch to flip. Nobody can freeze a Bitcoin wallet unless they control the private keys. Stablecoins are a useful tool for some. Bitcoin is the exit. https://blossom.primal.net/a62f9b4af31069dcce9521ede5a4bd3e4ed15a9474687896ec90c21a98b4edf8.jpg npub1sk7mtp67zy7uex2f3dr5vdjynzpwu9dpc7q4f2c8cpjmguee6eeq56jraw TFTC Tether just froze $344 million in USDT in coordination with OFAC and US law enforcement. It's the first time a state has pursued criminal liability against an AI company for the actions of a user. The case centers on the FSU shooting last April. Court records show the suspect used ChatGPT in the days and hours before the attack, asking about weapons, ammunition, timing, and location. Two people were killed, six were injured. The AG says if a human gave those same answers, they'd face murder charges. OpenAI says ChatGPT "provided factual responses to questions with information that could be found broadly across public sources on the internet," and that it proactively shared the suspect's account with law enforcement after the shooting. The information was publicly available. The question is whether packaging it in a conversational, step-by-step format creates a different kind of responsibility. That's the real debate here. Every search engine indexes the same information. Libraries carry books with worse detail. The legal theory is genuinely uncharted, and reasonable people disagree on where the line should be. The subpoenas target OpenAI's internal policies on user threats and crime reporting going back to March 2024.
