@npub1n5s…rrhp, it looks like there's plenty of activity on GitHub. They also released the Fossify Messages APK yesterday.
But to be honest, I'm not really an "evergreen" kind of person... For Contacts and Calendar, while I understand that some maintenance will be required to keep up with CVEs, Android shenanigans, and UX improvements; for my needs the software feels pretty much done. I prefer that they keep the software as vanilla and compatible with the underlying protocols as possible.

Achievement of the day: I now have zero contacts in Google Contacts (both in my personal and company accounts). I'm using @npub1n5s…rrhp with a self-hosted CardDAV server (a simple Go implementation of my own, maybe I'll open source it in the future) and Thundermail as a backup. I've also moved to Fossify, using its Phone and Contacts apps (+ daily backups to my NAS). It's all working flawlessly. Now for the hard part: moving my calendars.

My professional posts don't quite fit the tone and microblogging style of Mastodon, and they’re not really suited to long-form blogging either. It would also be great to have an ActivityPub job board.

Hi folks. I'm thinking about going back to self-hosting on my own hardware (likely with GoToSocial this time), but I don't want to leave all my posts behind again. Has anyone migrated from Mastodon to GoToSocial and used something like Slurp to import old content?

, yes, where I wrote If-Match, please read If-None-Match (damn semantics). My main question is what would cause caches like Cloudflare and Squid to bombard the underlying server with GET requests, even when the cache is supposedly fresh, i.e., during the first hour or just after an If-None-Match conditional request that was answered with code 304 in the example above.

Quick question for folks who understand HTTP caching on reverse proxies like Squid or Cloudflare. If I have a GET REST endpoint responding with 200 OK and the following headers:
Cache-Control: public, max-age=3600
ETag: "123-a"
The proxy should cache and serve the response without hitting the underlying server more than once for the first hour, then send a request with If-Match: "123-a" when the cache goes stale, right? Is there any reason why it wouldn’t?

, you don't need to have a common relay with him for his message to reach you (Nostr has an Inbox/Outbox model). Nostr is suffering a bot attack at the moment. As long as you keep to WoT relays things are mostly fine (although there are unfortunately some legitimate users following spammer bots, but this is a much smaller problem than in public Nostr relays).

I'm mainly a KDE + macOS + Android person (in that order), so I kinda like Kaidan. But there are plenty of other (arguably more popular) options like Movim, Dino, Gajim, Conversations, etc.

Meanwhile, some of my favourite IRC and XMPP-based IM tools from the '90s are still going strong in OSS land. Some can even handle 4K video calls without a hitch nowadays... unlike Microsoft Teams. Go figure. 🤷‍♂️
