I had a great night catching speckled trout last night. About 30 minutes after sunset, the trout came in and I landed maybe 6 specs back to back on a Salt Strong Slam Shady paddle tail. The porpoises came in not long after that and ran all of the fish away. The moon and sun both affect the tide. Last night I camped on the beach. A little while after setting up camp, I realized I was awfully close to the water and that the tide could come in and sweep my camp away. I fortunatly have a tide app for fishing installed on my phone, so I looked up the details, it said "Walker is posting daymoons tomorrow, don't worry about the tides". Fuckin great app!

I made a minow trap a few days ago to take a closer look at what the bass, crappie, and bluegill are eating in this pond I have been #fishing
I was able to trap some baby crappie, some tiny prawns, and whatever the minnows are. Long time #linux user here. I don't know (remember?) when Gnome was first released, but I am pretty sure I have been using linux for longer than the Gnome project has existed. Over the many years, I have seen the Gnome project make many mistakes, and then ignore the community of users who get upset with the changes. This fragmented the community into many sub-camps, Gnome 3, Unity, Cinnamon, Pop, Mate, XFCE, etc. With that fragmentation there was no cohesion of the bread and butter applications, until the Mint folks started building the universal xapps. I use Gnome 3 today on Ubuntu, but only to be familiar with it as I was doing Corporate Desktop Linux engineering, but I will soon be returning to Cinnamon because it is a better over-all user experience for me, and many others. This is a long winded way of saying, the Gnome development community, or maybe Red Hat (perhaps that is redundant) drives people who may contribute away.

Knots I use less often include the arbor knot for attaching line to the reel, the surgeon's loop knot for pre-made rigs that can easily be attached to a swivel, and the dropper loop knot for surf and fishing off the bottom.

There are many fishing knots, but there are only 3 I use regularly. When tying leader to braid, I use a uni-to-uni knot, I have never had this knot fail on me, and is really easy to tie. For attaching terminal tackle to line (swivels, hooks, small lures), I use a palomar knot. Palomar knots are easier to tie than an improved clinch knot, and is stronger, but it is hard to use with large lures. For large lures, I use the improved clinch knot, this is usually with heavier leader so knot strength is less of an issue.

Department of Government Efficiency, it was always there. I believe in free markets, and maybe another way to look at this is Trump not picking winners or losers, but letting the market decide. Wizards of the Coast, owned by Hasbro, has been upsetting their player base with their upcoming One D&D. This started a year or so ago when they attemped to nullify the Open Gaming Licence (OGL), originally created by Wotc to be similar to the GPL. The direction Hasbro is taking D&D is towards digital and micro payments, and they are moving away from physical books and DIY dungeon masters. The quality of the physical books is also very poor with perfect binding (glued) instead of stitched, and the books often start falling apart after even moderate use. I am sure the new version will be fine, but players will be funneled into paywalls to play.

I say start with a one-shot instead of a campaign, try to keep it short if possible. A "5 room dungeon" might be a good place to start. I would tune into a live stream for a one-shot, but these can be very boring and slow paced for a spectator.

We have community fisheries here that are stocked with hatchery fish. They can be fun, but are often crowded. Many of the reservors around me have a day use fee and I don't like it either, but there are fewer people.

Gar fish can be hard to catch. They do not have lips for your hook to pierce, and their mouths are armored with teeth and bone. Gar will grab onto your bait and swim away before they swallow, so it is best to keep your bale open to allow your line to unwind. Once it seems the gar has swallowed its meal, close your bale and set the hook. Gar have been around since the Triassic period, over 240 million years. This is a Spotted Gar I caught in Louisiana in May.
