Blacks and women didn't start signing up in significant numbers until the government threw tons of money, benefits, and free tuition at veterans. Even so, it took 20 years of depressed wages and the loss of entry level jobs for them to consider the military as a career option.
If the Armed Forces need wartime heroes, they need (Southern) white men. If they need bodies, they can tap the newer sources of recruits, but they'd have to boost the sign up bonuses so much they'd blow out the budget.

@npub1lnz…k8dk Worth noting that both cops and Antifa used paintball guns in 2020. Cops used pepper rounds that weren't super effective, but they could drive back unprepared protestors. Antifa didn't seem to have much luck vs cameras, but it forced the feds to use higher altitude drones.
