I think I must have a fairly refined taste and well curated experience because my all follows corkboard and my favorite nostriches corkboard are almost the same notes. Like minds stay.
That much more roller coaster when nostrfam siblings fight tho.
I thought about weighing in longform, and I might, but you guys already know, in time, proof of work out-performs NGU fiat.

#TIL flatfish have an eye that migrates to the other side of the head after birth. It helps hunting and predator aversion from the ocean floor to have two eyes up. This seems key to epigenetic study by I didn't find multi-generational studies that manipulate environment to see whether the eye migrates even when disadvantageous over multiple generations. Seems to me that the obvious assumption is that we'd find reversibility in this adaptation. And that the calcified institutions would doubt that reflexively.

Agree, there won't be legal solutions that preserve justice. That's why I mentioned culture. I.E. early education about identifying dishonesty in advertising, perhaps through clever memorizable nursery rhymes or similar, shyster tropes in art, fearless ostracizing of manipulators, well known jokes to preserve the boundaries.

I would say capitalism in its truest form is a condition of mutually beneficial arrangements that are free of force, fraud, or coercion, that don't harm others. Freedom to trade with each other as we see fit. The weakness is when the surrounding culture doesn't protect those who are of lesser ability to evaluate trades, think in the long term, or otherwise protect themselves in a trade.

Agree, and optimistically I expect that in time such can only be dictated at scale where others' webs of trust are blindly accepted. Those who would adhere to someone else's attestation based on such a flimsy heuristic are building themselves an echochamber. Their perception will suffer accordingly, realworld results will be outwardly less appealing, and beget rethinking. Those who use their own discretion and are more careful in what meaning they choose to ascribe to associations they witness from others will have a more truthful and full experience. It all comes out in the wash.

One thing to note is that any truth to this origin for navigable constructs would not give any one validity. Quite the opposite. The strength or continued existence of a pathway seen by multiple travelers might well be an artifact of a compulsory group delusion among unwitting cultists, a distortion trap framework left behind to ensnare naive wanderers, who themselves strengthen a suboptimal course by their very participation. While the opposite might also be true. A latent course correcting force that trends toward what is good is more than a pragmatic guidepost, more than a tempting talisman for hope. It seems to be a characteristic of the experience and of the tangible physical reality to which the traveler inevitably returns. The balance is not a confused place, but one well understood, hence the rarity of the unmoderated and unmitigated wise one.

- When fetching, if all the fetched notes are dismissed, UI will show a note and fetch the first ones that are not yet dismissed
- Onboarding flow was switching from explanatory text to vague one before there was time to read it, instead of just showing the verbose explanatory text throughout
- Was showing disconcerting 'user_xyz123' text instead of a loading indicator until profile information, including avatars, was fetched
- Discover flow 1) ask first relay for 1 kind 1 non-reply note from 5 of first hardcoded npub's follows 2) ask next relay for same, for second hardcoded npub 3) ask next relay for same, for third ... etc, round robin. add'l rules: get profile info at the same time | keep adding notes at the bottom of the feed as they are found | don't add the same note twice | don't add the same npub/author twice. Future: WOT + randomizer seed
- Discover mode: hover on any card to see 5 more notes from that author
- Logout was still not clearing all caches :| Priorities, clod. Data was surviving logout, could be leaked from one user to the next on the same device
- More attempts to get to the right reply in the thread modal when clicked, and to show full thread, still buggy
- 'Include my notes' setting was sometimes not applying
- Cleaned up settings modal and put the backup functions under a new icon to the right of the settings gear
- Settings download to file has everything and is identical to blossom file backup
- Purple 'scroll to top' arrow didn't mesh, moved to center, green
- Autofetch was not working when toggled on after notes already loaded
- Spoilering occurs at same height, but not unless > spoiler_threshold * 1.5, so that we're never spoilering for just a few characters
**Lastly:**
- I had clod optimize for human readability, code accessible to contributors and forkers, verbose documentation, and useful console messaging/logging
- After adding verbose console logging, ran through and clicked everything, then fed log to clod for a look at any errors or possibilities
- Asked clod, What would you do differently?
- Asked clod to audit for vulnerabilities, elegance, best practices, tech debt, optimizations, privacy, cypherpunk sensibilities
I have added features after doing the above 4 steps last, so I will repeat again before next release.
**Requesting:**
- Beta testers looking for bugs, making suggestions and feature requests.
- Security vulnerabilities, or console log insights, but not requesting in depth technical audits yet. I am first going to go through all the variable names, have them explained to me, and then have them changed to something that makes sense and doesn't have confusing overlap. Then open source it (next release). Then, such a request might be reasonable.
- If there's anything foolish please explain so we can all learn from it. I'm sure there's some of that :D

- Couldn't escape unscrollable profile card view in phone mode if it has so much text that it is bigger than the screen
- Pin was appearing twice on 'me' tab
- If response from a relay says 'not authorized' or similar, it gets skipped and saved in backup as skipped relay
- **Option to load all video thumbnails and images**
- 'Me' notes were shown on other corkboards even when outside of time window of otherwise rendered notes
- 'Me' notes are now highlighted when shown on other corkboards
- Notes that are already pinned to board can be re-pinned to add, change, or remove a comment
- When opening an npub in a new corkboard, can follow that npub from there instead of needing to re-open the profile card
- Newly fetched note indicator stays until next fetch, rather than timing out

Changes deployed to stage.corkboards.me for testing:
- Shows more (125) characters of nested notes text before ellipsing
- 'Open in new corkboard' titled with the nickname of the npub whose notes are being opened
- When autofetching is toggled on, UI does not autoscroll to those notes if they are offscreen
- Opening thread mode scrolls to the reply that was clicked
- **Added ability to copy the event id of any note, reply, or nested content**
- There was a delay when clicking to navigate to another corkboard and when clicking on the columns selector, but there was no 'clicked' indication
- The 'me' tab was showing pinned notes immediately, but then refreshing rather than bg fetching.
- **Can pin any note from anyone to own corkboard. (Repost + Pin) Reposting is separate function.**
- All action buttons on their own row at the bottom of each note
- Reposts now have option to also add comment
- Thread replies inside thread modal instead of opening compose modal
- The comment bubble button now opens the thread modal ready to reply
- **Can 'show more' of nested content without opening thread modal**
- The compose modal and the nested compose field within it are larger by default on desktop mode
- Indicator arrows in the upper menu on phone mode show sidescrollability

Staging changes tested, deployed to corkboards.me with bugfixes:
- Still wasn't getting full thread above reaction and what is being reacted to. Better now, and fewer 'Loading reacted note' placeholders
- Fetch 25 was sometimes getting far fewer in phone mode, fixed
- Lower menu was still obscuring the last note in phone mode, fixed

Remember thumbtack corkboards?
Add a friend’s recent notes like notecards to a fresh corkboard on your computer, tablet, or phone.
Or build a shared corkboard that holds notes from multiple friends.
Build as many corkboards as you like, privately.
Include friends, news, or other public feeds, then filter them in various ways.
- _No more forced algorithms._
The default corkboard has all of your notes.
The follows board shows all your friends at once.
The discovery board shows friends of friends.
Read your corkboards like real bulletin boards — minimize or dismiss notecards to make more room when you’ve already read them.
Since these are digital corkboards, there’s more you can do:
- Build a newspaper or magazine from trusted or interesting sources
- Group feeds that post about a common topic
- Make aggregates, like lists
- Easily view a portfolio of a friend, or your own without logging into your artist account
- Combine feeds from musicians or video creators so you have an always fresh playlist

Changes deployed to stage.corkboards.me for testing:
- Columns were not always functioning, and weren't functioning at all in phone mode. If the number of columns selected made columns below a certain width, they would not be visible / off screen. Column selector indicates number of columns selected in desktop mode again.
- All fetches fetch 'me' notes within note time window when 'include my notes' is selected, so that notes don't have to be fetched on the 'me' tab to appear
- Notes > 750 characters show 'load more'
- 'Autofetch' option with checkmark in tray fetches notes newer than those already cached, without refreshing, every 3 minutes / multiplier, and on load of new corkboard
- Scrolls to oldest newly loaded note on fetch instead of the newest newly loaded note
- Added a note in the create custom corkboard modal that indicates the field accepts comma separated npubs
- Fewer 'No content' and 'Loading reacted note...' messages in nested content
- Thread modal shows full npub nickname
- Loading 25 more also loads newer notes if since_fetched < default time window (1hr * multiplier)
- Column selection settings saved both per-corkboard and independently for large screen / small screen, so that user can choose a different default number of columns on phone than on desktop
- Reading position is preserved when navigating between corkboards, so that switching back and forth is a more consistent experience
- Page no longer refreshes when returning from another app on phone (testing in production)

### Corkboards.me 1.95 Alpha
Staging changes tested, deployed to corkboards.me with bugfixes:
- Replies were appearing twice in thread modal
- Lower menu was obstructing the last note when only one column is selected
- Top menu defaults to floating, preference saved
Ideal for desktop note reading, now thread reading and replies too.
Half the fixes to existing features are now completed, then I'll add notifications and a few more basic features before re-doing security audits, code readability / declankifications, and documentation.

Changes deployed to stage.corkboards.me for testing:
- Reduced header height by removing padding and reducing the font size to match global styling
- Replies to a thread weren't showing immediately in the UI
- Stats in lower menu were inaccurate when notes were both filtered and dismissed
- **Always load full thread of replies and all branches up to 500 events**
- Reactions that are more than 2 characters are not shown under the note in thread mode, and reactions are rendered on a 2nd row
- Some reposted notes weren't showing the reposted content at all
- **RSS feeds naturally show posts chronologically within the time window of notes that are otherwise loaded, properly dovetailed**
- Nostr:nevents and blossom links render in nested content
- Adding someone to a corkboard they are already on says so
- **Undo lasts on all cards for 20 seconds independently, not just one at a time**

Changes deployed to stage.corkboards.me for testing:
- Replied-to content rendering more consistently
- Includes client tags in new posts; displays client tags for others' posts
- Note fetching begins while waiting for user to click off the splash screen. This helps with the *User Experience,* which is pronounced in italics and filmed in soft light. Because here at Corkoards.me, we believe that what matters is *perception.* Why engineer something properly when you can just make it seem like it works? After all, if the customer is always right, we must make the customer believe what we believe before we have to cater to their 'wishes.' But in the end, what matters is that people use our product, not how we got them to do it, especially if they have no other choice or are otherwise a captured market, and so making them think they don't have to wait as long by including extraneous clicks that deflect the delay back on them is just *good business*.

- Nested content within nested content text overlap bug should be fixed
- Return to corkboard refresh bug fixed
- Following an npub from the profile card no longer returns to the corkboard and refreshes it. It instead returns to the corkboard where it was when profile card was opened.
- Reactions in threads were causing the reacted-to content to render like replies, each rerendering the original. Now it renders once, at the top of the thread or thread branch, and reactions are shown as emoji badges belowthe reacted-to note. **See how many of each emoji reactions there are to the post, and hover to see who reacted.**
- Blossom links and nostr.build links rendering more consistently

- Clicking and letting go doesn't trigger thread open when text is highlighted anymore
- Notes show not just days, but hour and minutes in all contexts: 1d1h1m
- Clicking outside image more reliably closes it, and getting stuck in lightbox bug should be fixed
- **Option for corkboard menu to float with scroll**
- Auto-scroll to the note just after the most recently consolidated note when clicked
- Auto-scroll to newest newly loaded note after fetching
- The 'Newer' indicator is now 'time since last fetch' rather than 'time since most recent note'
- Comma separated npubs can now be entered to create a custom corkboard
- Clicking 'load more' then switching to another corkboard doesn't mix up notes anymore
- Stale time on avatars 48 hours. Will be much lower with ditto/avatar shape support
- Elements in zap window no longer hang off right side
- Logged in npub was occasionally showing as 'user_xyz123' instead of avatar and nickname
- Malformed reposts bug fixed
- Second fetch for any missing nested event content may mitigate flaky relays
- Zaps show in ui after zapping
