The Salt Shaker Saga
Day One
A hacker entered the cafeteria outraged. Every table held a salt shaker anyone could unscrew and fill. He wrote the director: "I, meG@Duc|, found a vulnerability. An attacker can open it and pour poison. Act now."
Day Two
Among supply requests and cold soup complaints the director read it, shrugged, muttered "Too much free time," and deleted it.
Day Five
The hacker added poison to every shaker. Three hundred died. The director was acquitted after three months in court. The hacker replied: "Seen it now?"
Day 96
The director bought combination-lock shakers. Customers stared at keypads feeling life too complicated.
Day 97
The hacker saw holes let anything pass. He wrote furious then peed in every shaker. Three hundred never returned. Thirty went to hospital. Text: "How do you like that?" Director got one year suspended after three more months in court.
Day 188
Director swore off cafeterias and left for Siberian timber. Engineers designed one-way valve shakers. Waitresses handed out salt manually.
Day 190
Hacker stole a shaker, examined it, wrote: "I, meG@Duc|, stole one and find it outrageous. Anyone can take your property." Director, never a drinker before, finished a bottle of vodka.
Day 193
All shakers chained to tables. Hacker attended next DEF CON, reported his work, won award for consumer rights. Director never heard.
Day 194

@nprofile…eh9a here's my 'analysis': there's no unified iranian regime in any form. there's the splintered IRGC fiefdoms plus the central 'civilian' government. the supreme leader has been proclaimed and hasn't been seen since, meanwhile everyone in iran is giving out mixed signals (or even worse than just 'mixed'). khamenei jr doesn't comment on it, even if this is his exact job, so he's probably not there. interestingly, nobody in the warring factions seems to be brave enough to make the supreme leader their ventriloquist dummy, probably because then the others would immediately out them, so for now the supreme leader has only given out messages that nobody can disagree with (e.g., glory to our martyrs) and nothing of substance (e.g. yeah let's actually make a deal / let's actually fight).
Maybe that also explains these constant ultimata from america. hit the bush and see which snake comes out. IRGC being by now heavily decentralized is both an advantage and disadvantage.
