I read this searing piece through hot tears of rage and renewed determination.
Canada should be using every tool we have - legal, diplomatic, economic - to rein in and isolate this rogue state.
It should be a national scandal that we aren’t.

1/ The Liberal government might as well have called its AI strategy “All in for AI”.
This is a document that is heavy on hype, but light on the right guardrails that we need to protect people – and to ensure that the benefits of the technology don’t just flow to a handful of tech giants and investors.
It proposes a massive boost to business adoption of AI, with no concern for the consequences this will have for workers, especially young workers who are already watching careers vanish before their eyes.
This government is imposing a world-changing technology on all of us without any public debate. Instead of putting in place strong regulations to safeguard workers, youth, privacy, and our water and energy supply, they prefer to “move fast and break things” as the Silicon Valley motto goes.

4/ I have an idea for the Prime Minister: why don’t we pull a Norway?
Let’s put a windfall tax on oil and gas companies that are projected to make $90B in profits this year because of Trump’s illegal war in Iran. Then, let’s use that money to fill up the Sovereign Wealth fund — and invest in projects that benefit Canadians instead of a few wealthy investors and CEOs.

2/ Rather than asking the biggest corporations to pay their fair share, it throws public money at them in the hope that the market will solve our problems in housing, in infrastructure and the cost of living.
This is exactly what the Prime Minister’s Sovereign Wealth Fund does. It’s a mirror image of Norway’s successful model: Norway invests revenue from its public oil company into its fund for the public’s benefit. Prime Minister Carney’s approach is to seed the fund with public money to subsidize big private projects.

1/ Today’s spring economic statement fails to meet the moment at a time when Canadians are getting crushed by the rising cost of everything.
While it was sold by the government as a plan to address affordability, the update contains virtually no new measures to bring down the cost of living — it tinkers around the edges and re-announces existing initiatives.
Meanwhile, there’s not a single new measure to bring in new revenue by taxing excessive corporate profits.
