A confluence of many different things brought me to getting a Study Bible and downloading the Bible app in October:
- Never feeling fulfilled by the faith I was brought up in despite desperately trying
- Conversations over the last 5 years with close friends about the meaning-crisis in the West and how so many people, including me, seem to have a god-shaped hole (that some are filling with a fervour social justice ideology, not me - I'm actually working against that in my fiat work with corporates)
- convos with two friends, one who became Christian 3 years ago and one who did maybe 10 months ago
- Listening to Nick Freitas on his podcast and how his world view is shaped by his faith. Strange because I initially started listening to him for the political content
- Listening to Wes Huff on Joe Rogan
In December I experienced the forgiveness and grace of God that let me shed the weight of so many past things I've been carrying. And I've basically been doubly committed ever since. I also searched for guidance on my fiat and Bitcoin work, found it, and now I am doubly committed to that too - well almost doubly 😂
When I get back from my travels I plan to find a Church and go as regularly as possible.
I saw the Hanoi Cathedral a few weeks ago at night and it was quite beautiful, considering how young it is, relatively speaking.

On the tube in London it's definitely some idiot recording the person opposite them, waiting for a fight to start. So I just move seats, and I never hold up my phone on the tube unless there is noone around.
But when I'm elsewhere in public I hold my phone up so I don't end up with a fucked neck 🤷‍♀️

After the Utter Shit Show that was COVID, the UK's Crime and Policing Bill wants to introduce "no mask zones" where people are protesting.
Not that I think protest achieves anything, but it's a bit rich that now they want faces on show when people decide to march.

I recently re-read The Cypherpunk Manifesto. These sections stood out:
“If I say something, I want it heard only by those for whom I intend it. If the content of my speech is available to the world, I have no privacy. To encrypt is to indicate the desire for privacy, and to encrypt with weak cryptography is to indicate not too much desire for privacy.”
And
“For privacy to be widespread it must be part of a social contract. People must come and together deploy these systems for the common good. Privacy only extends so far as the cooperation of one's fellows in society.”
Why these passages in particular?
Because months on I am still dumbfounded by a group of very high profile UK Bitcoiners (business owners, authors, old-hands on TradFi stages) who basically said they didn’t give a shit about privacy and were gonna stay on WhatsApp for the sorts of conversations they were having that should be more secure.
I’m SUCH a fresh newbie by comparison, and 100% could still learn a lot from many of them. But on this one thing I will never look at them the same again. Not that they care, nor should they.
And yet if they are trying to increase adoption, then without the strong underpinnings of privacy measured alongside the current abysmal state of the UK - they are just setting their fellow countrymen and countrywomen up to fail and fall right into the governments outstretched and thorn-covered arms.
I'm on holiday at the moment and have time to think about these interactions when they pop into my head. But as 2026 takes root for me on my return I really hope I'll forget all about this because it's serving me no purpose at all. Well, almost no purpose aside from the meme I made and stuck in my Nostr presentation at BitFest. I can still get mileage out of that at my next talk in March 😂

When I lived in Bermuda (I think the population was less than 65k people at that time) a huge number of people rode bikes/scooters.
You NEVER left your helmet on your bike. It was either locked up in the bike box or you took it inside with you (your friend's house, a restaurant, whatever). You could never leave a helmet out in London either.
Here in Chiang Mai, a city with far more people than Bermuda, many people just leave their helmets with their bikes, unsecured.
I don't know about Bermuda, but I remember a time when London was a lot more high-trust. Maybe with the sheer number of people there it was never at Thai levels, but it was certainly more then, than it is now.
