That's the federated part of the fediverse. Other people can choose to interact with it on whatever instance/platform they want. You can block that instance so that interactions that happen on that server don't reach yours, but as long as you (or firefish.city) is federating content, anyone can pick it up, even if it's not directly from your server.

I'm still skeptical and I've noticed the drain but I didn't have it setup to just work when off of WiFi. I have a ios shortcut that turns on tailscale for 30 minutes and then turns it off. That way, I can access what ever I need without having to worry about it staying on all the time.
