i could really hair split about "link aggregation" since reddit community centric rather than Tag centric, but get your point, imo it's a bad link aggregator, browsing and archiving related links is horrible, which is why we shouldn't emulate it. anyway
yeah activitypub has "groups" and "aggregation" already in the spec, Mastodon, pleroma etc. all made a conscious decision to never even try to do groups at the very beginning and we're dealing with the consequences ( like it seem mast are now obsessing over non-essential features or the css theme than trying anything new )
but yes we need to think alot more broadly about what we want from social media and not be limited to imitating corporate models
people say silly things like "we can't do that, it's not in the spec" when the spec doesn't matter, the spec is vaporware, there are a million ways for servers in a network to communicate with each other, and a lot of old methods like rss/atom, xmpp or even nntp could be used in new ways ( that almost no fedi servers have built in RSS readers even tho this is *trivial* to code boggles the mind )
I'm a big fan of the Zot protocol developed by Mike who made Hubzilla, Friendica and Streams, i think would agree with everything you said, but I think the weakness of those platform is they lack the front-end sparkle that mast/pleroma/misskey has... Hubzilla but with misskey type interface would be a fucking beast

Personally what I'd like to see if something that Approaches Myspace or Tumblr, with personal homepages and music sharing, ya know, *fun* stuff that allows people to express their individuality and find and share media they enjoy, but also full integration into forums. We're not really that far off, Kbin is pretty close, tho i think the "reddit clone" is a similar dead end to a "twitter clone" . . . reddit is just forums, there are a million ways to do forums it doesn't have to look like reddit

Canada is way better than the US try getting a specialist in the US lmao, and if you compare most of Europe to the US yes it's far better by any metric.
It's not so simple as a private vs public thing, like the UK the currupt politicians in both parties run the NHS into the ground to benefit their privatization agenda. So the governmnet runs healtcare into the ground to benefit the private sector and a similar thing has been happening in Canada, the solution isn't just privatize everything,
I don't know what you mean by saving, you cannot possible safe enough money to afford something like a surgery or other major operation, especially in a laisee faire healtchare situation where prices are jacked up on every link in the chain.
I'm not a fan of any kind of governmnet anything, i healtchare system where medical professionals ran the hospitals directly, where patients pooled their resources, i.e. a public institution that was neither government or for profit would be the ideal for me, but in lieu of that universal tax funded healthcare is clearly the best option.
I think you've been influenced by propaganda put out exactly by those private interests. You know who agrees with you ? Joe Biden, Pete Butigieg etc. They all talk about "Choice" in healtcare, yes the choice to either go into debt or die

the thing about healthcare is you have absolutely no idea how much healthcare you're going to need or how expensive that may be, some people need little, some need much more. It also doesn't have anything to do with "life choices" necessarily, you can live a very healthy and responsible lifestyle and wind up with some rare disease. This is why there needs to be as big of a pool to draw from as possible, and a general public fund everyone contributes to is the best option.
