There is inarguable manipulation happening in Bitcoin.
And while it’s reasonable to rationalize it away, let’s be clear that:
- that manipulation is intended to keep you from ever retiring on your BTC investments.
- those front-runners now living on their Bitcoin investments are being forced to sell to the rhetorical “Wall St”. This is the game, and it is irreversible.
Bitcoin Retail is being fleeced by an industry so cohesive and sophisticated it can issue vast paper Bitcoin, not get “FTX’d”, and then recover it - as an Industry - while driving the price ever lower, forcing the Retail to sell to them, ad infinitum.
Plebs are losing the War. We are so out-classed by paper exchanges and little to no Self-Custody ethos that I cannot see Bitcoin undermining Fiat ever. Supporting it, yes, becoming the bedrock for it, as intended. But BTC is flowing into the coffers of Power, we are powerless, the US Dollar Overlords have so outclassed us that they are and will continue driving the price sideways and down for the rest of our lives if need be…and I see no other game-theory sovereign power in the world that wants to go against the US.
I’m experiencing the “long, dark night of the soul”. I sense we have lost, that Bitcoin is becoming a State asset. I have little hope for our children.
I’ve heard that when the Confederate supporters were losing the American Civil War, they began hiding their gold/silver in jars to protect it from the invading Union armies. When you start hiding your Money in hopes your kids can have it someday, you’ve already lost.

Something is fundamentally wrong with Bitcoin.
Paper Bitcoin is clearly rampant.
Lesser exchanges will fail before Coinbase, because they’re “off-shore” or unimportant or whatever.

I’m a few years behind you, but came from cypherpunk material and think I can appreciate what you’re saying.
I also have long fiat investment background.
I agree with you.
The central problem now is that “if” there is a new generation of Bitcoin Maxis, they realized the OGs are selling out.
And since that selling is clearly going to Govt entities, they aren’t inspired that there’s any “Bitcoin Revolution” still being led by revolutionaries.
In other words: “OGs” have left the building, conferences are cringe, “cypherpunk” isn’t front and center anymore, and Wall St has completely pwned price.
We’re at a make or break year, right now.
Gov’t will capsize Bitcoin in a year or so, guaranteed.
Because they’ve overwhelmed “Retail” markets, and thereby underwhelmed “pleb” culture, thus rug-pulling self-custody, and all the while the original Bitcoiners have gone awol to sell their stacks to Bukele in El Salvador or Dubai or wherever.
It’s hard to stay optimistic. Fiat has fully recognized the need to subsume Bitcoin into its system. And the sociopaths have all the time and all the money in the world to do so.
We had a good run, but what I’m seeing is that the people who understood Bitcoin best are cut-and-running. Bitcoin is now a global asset, and that means it will perform as a portfolio savings-asset for the rest of Fiat’s life.

Politics is a social-structure that is necessary at first, then inevitably attracts the Psycho-/Sociopaths.
Psycho-/Sociopaths represent <5% of society, but they seem to have an Evolutionary imperative to persist. In fact, the accepted definition is that Psychopaths are born, Sociopaths are made.
They represent a tiny number of people who do not understand emotional bonding and connection. As such, they only see their social culture as a NEED to control other people. So they are drawn to positions of power - i.e. positions of central authority or control.
It’s important to understand they’re drawn to political positions not just for the control, but because they increasingly feel themselves among “their tribe” - in other words, no longer around “those” people they don’t understand.
Politics is where Sociopaths feel most “at home”.
[They feel they’re in their element, as sadistic as it is ( I use the word sadistic intentionally). It’s exactly similar to how pedophiles are drawn together in positions of power over children, in fact the Venn diagram between the two psychologies is almost unified…which explains so much of what has been coming to light of late.]
The desire to control is the desire for Power. Normal people do not feel this. Normal people will achieve success, and then long to retire asap and “spend time with friends and family”. Sociopaths do not, because they don’t understand their family. They never bonded, they don’t “get” the need for people to be together for any reason other than “networking” or gaining access. This is why people in higher Politics never seem to leave. They have nowhere safe to go any longer.
What Sociopaths fear the most is being disrespected. THIS is the leverage they use over each other.
Sociopaths DO NOT care whether you like them or hate them. They need you to be in their control, to play their game.
What they CANNOT allow is for you to walk away and ignore them.

Good question.
I spent so much of my life trying to rocket-jet myself into success. In various fields. So when I mention how it’s important to learn about “red flags” I speak from a place that learned to do that the hard way, and learned to appreciate my aptitude to do so.
But basically, I was fortunate enough to find enough success to realize that what I do has to be fun and enjoyable, otherwise it’s just servitude.
When we’re young - ALL of us - we think we have to do what we’re told to do by, and to become, Adults.
That’s not true.
Young people need to - first and foremost - learn to recognize who are actual Authentic Adults? Then just ask them for jobs. To learn.
Never in history have people worked “McJobs”. Never. They only exist in a Fiat monetary system.
For thousands of years, “Farmer” used to be a very high-class occupation.

I use AI almost exclusively now as a replacement for websearching.
What I’m experimenting with now is including my boring websearch with something that might be more spicy.
So, for instance, if I’m wondering whether the ‘60’s band The Seekers was connected to the ‘70’s band The New Seekers, I might ask:
“Was the band The Seekers affiliated with the later band The New Seekers, and how were they related to the US abdicating from the Gold Standard in 1971?”

It’s gotten crazy now, but I believe it’s worth remembering that many years ago, early/clumsy AI was implicated in something that became known as “Elsagate”.
tl;dr “Youtube Kids” began to support thousands of videos for children that parents began to complain were “very off”. They exhibited cartoon characters, superheros, and nominallly “Elsa” from frozen…but in situations that increasingly became weird and disturbing.
As I understand it, it turned out low-rent AI was farming income by auto-generating countless videos and posting specifically to Youtube Kids - knowing that parents weren’t monitoring and the kids would just click on whatever was engaging. The videos started as bland, but mission-creep gradually led them to generate strangely as the engagement warranted.
Many of these can still be found, I believe, on Youtube still….by searching “Elsagate”. It’s not a boring endeavor, and quite instructive in understanding how the Uncanny Valley still perpetuates in contemporary AI.

Btw, late night thought.
I don’t think much about the Bitcoin mining world, even though I run multiple miners at home.
But large Bitcoin Mining co’s pivoting to AI signals to me only that they were lost at sea, scared, and uncommitted to Bitcoin mining.
If I ran a large BTC mining op and understood my business, pivoting to some new upstart model is not something I’d even consider. And if I did, I’d dip toes only and not talk about it.

I can only imagine I know where you’re coming from, but I think I share the disheartenment.
Fiat is the retardation that just…keeps…going. It should disappear overnight. For so many reasons.
Yet the most important change in multiple generations of lifetimes - which is in EVERYONE’s face now - is somehow still just an investment sideshow.
A large part of it (in your world, if I can mind-read you) is that people who are intelligent and dynamic are continually profoundly stupid.
My only rationale is to remember that Bitcoin was created by Cypherpunks. It ONLY EXISTS because of that ethos. Anyone who doesn’t walk that walk (i.e. so many Saylors and OGs) I simply listen to, but don’t vouch.

Fear & Greed is an upside-down “index”.
It solely tracks Retail, so it’s a dangerous metric, since Retail is people who are emotionally attached to high time preference.
As opposed to people who get a paycheck whether they make money or not, or whose lives don’t change whether they invest well or whether they wait.
So basically (imo) Fear is simply when Retail has no money to spend, and Greed is when they have it. And that said, when Retail is gutted, Institutions have done their job and will soon step up and start buying. But probably not too soon, unless there’s nothing else.

This is a very timely and important post Marty, and I appreciate it because I am also seeing and becoming briefly disheartened by how Institutions are clearly - in my view - demoralizing and “fleecing” retail in the Bitcoin space so that they can acquire their/our Bitcoin.
The price-suppression can continue for a long, long time now, imo. Because they know we are only people, not jobs, so we are the weak hands. It’s sad, but if anyone is living off Bitcoin at this point, you are a seller of last resort…and no longer an OG.

Does anyone have real-world experience dealing with corporate American health-care on a cash basis?
I often hear that you can offer cash and get greatly discounted rates/fees, but that seems really sus. Is it worth me calling my local hospital billing dept about that?
I’m aware of CrowdHealth, but it’s not considered insurance so it’s my belief I’ll still be required to have additional “real” health insurance…?
My goal is to not have to rely on a job (or AMA) to provide my insurance, but since I’ve never actually had to deal with health insurance I don’t have experience in the IRL of saying “how much will this be if I pay cash?”
I appreciate any guidance in this regard.

I have come to believe that maybe that IS the purpose of God putting tiny fractions of His consciousness into Us in this material world that seems to just grind and separate us into “tried as hard as She/He could” - or - “couldn’t do it anymore and gave up”.
It helps to seek out for other people to help keep you keeping on in the grind. If you can read the right people. And eventually you may have to abandon those who only take you so far.
I’ve come to believe none of us were put here to “Succeed”, which I did, for so long. Now I believe I was put here to learn how to find Humility, Community, and Peace as well as I can. I feel the same questions and concerns. And I won’t pretend I know, because literally no one person knows. There are so many decades of consortiums acting together and against ad infinitum over a century or more becoming a non-virtual World Wide Web of power that it’s incomprehensible to any singular one of us or even of them.
So naturally we just choose not to care…except we seem to be experiencing the end-game. Maybe. In which only a handful of them are now exercising inordinate control worldwide, having garnered and incorporated vast UNINCORPORATED military and non-military divisions beyond outline or trace.
At any rate, forget all that. I doesn’t matter and is only disheartening…my only point is that WE very real human beings have been born into this very unhuman bureaucratic hellscape solely because the US Dollar introduced Fiat Money like a shitcoin cryptocurrency into the world. The “discovery” of Fiat money devaluation was like jet-fuel for centuries of shitty power-struggling psychopaths.
Learning and grasping and understanding that really sucks.

I hate/don’t hate this view. But if we entertain it, that means we need to see that the proverbial Bitcoin-meme “Money Printer” has not stopped but only changed hands. [Which won’t surprise TFTC viewers & Luongo lovers - but I’m dubious they can pull this off….THIS time (despite having watched Fed/Dollar money manager work magic for decades).]
As I see it, what your interviewee is saying (in this clip) is that money printing is no longer a shotgun, but a paid tactical team. I doubt that hasn’t always been the case, but I’m totally open to the fact that instead of US banks being the bailouts it’s now dozens of worldwide agents…

I just don’t believe they can weaponize the Dollar back into non-“Eurodollar/foreigndollar” hands. But in truth I had given something like a 25% chance that they could reign-in the 2007-2008 financial crisis, and they fucking did it. In spades.
