The benefit is that it will pump the bags of early adopters and make them much more politically and socially influential. These tend to be people who would push for an agenda I agree with; Limited government. The other benefit is that as sound money starts to underpin economies, the ability to print to finance things like wars is impinged. The obvious downside is that the US government is obviously corrupt and arguably evil and a move to sound money will perpetuate their reign.
