I watched my employers build their newest data center in the 2010’s.
The level of detail of redundancy is out of this world. Just the man traps-the entry where you’re locked in between doors-we’re unbelievable. The cooling system could be run from electricity, diesel, or natural gas (pipeline and on site tanks.)
Those places are auditions for billionaire bunkers.

What would the contact interface be like? Do those binaries have clouds of ground-off “pebbles”?
Could an astronaut lean down very close to the contact area and watch it grind? Or would it be too chaotic and risky to even get close?

I think the tradeoff is more editing required.
Which is the curse of immediately at-hand recording devices anyway. If you're already good at curating, a 360-cam would be a great tool.

Fumbling to learn bass guitar and piano.
Practicing conversational Spanish
Being retired and trying not to sweat the future because humans can't predict diddly-squat. Economists do not meet the minimum qualification (human) for that assertion.
Accepting who I am (a couch potato)
Changing what I can (stop speaking like an old, cishet white guy.)
Being less reactive.
Living up to my wife and daughter's standards.

Haven't we been through this when 1u servers were new? Blade servers? VM's?
Pretty sure I had some Sev 1 incidents due to "patching reluctance" way back when the earth's crust was still cooling.
And the cover-ups were so inelegant. "But but but its running an emulator for DOS 1.x because the application is so old....but but it was working for all these years...."

Since Russia’s long distance transfer-voltage is incompatible with the rest of the world, this is nothing like “flipping the switch.”
Perhaps the final hour or day was choose-able within some smallish range of time.
But the enormous effort, planning, buying equipment to pull this off means it was well anticipated by all parties.
Not at all diminishing the wonderful news, thank you for sharing. But the dramatic editing at the expense of accuracy concerns me.

Sonics Associates Inc rediscovered and modernized the 1930’s research that lead to actually wearable 3D sound eq. (Originally used in Imax3D headsets, now in Apple’s VR set.)
They made a presentation on it to Sony and were scared to death they would love the product. If they had, Sony would’ve instantly produced the necessary internal records to “prove” the work was theirs and sue Sonics out of existence. Fortunately, Sony didn’t care. Though Sonics never got the deserved credit.

Everyone will require long term care.
Every plan now will be virtually worthless in the future.
Eg: my dad diligently got and paid for LTC insurance for +40 years. After a slow but steepening decline due to Parkinson’s, he netted exactly zero cents from it.
Their “reasonable means testing” declined him every time.
