You should be frustrated. I agree, the muted example is something we should be able to take care of client side. Posts not showing up on Mastodon will ALWAYS be an issue with the way Activity Pub works, unfortunately. Unless every server that hosts people you follow relays with us not just posts but reboosts, we can't do that. Maybe a FASP will emerge one day for "big fedi" to support this.

When I go to 4player.libsyn.com i get redirected to rss.libsyn.com which .. hangs ... are you able to actually fetch that url (https://4player.libsyn.com/rss)?

I've worked at Flipboard for over 15 years, since we launched in 2010. The whole backend when we launched was written in .... ruby. We just shut down, a few minutes ago, the last ruby microservice that was part of the initial launch.

The flf account follows only flipboard.com users and magazines to ensure that flips into magazines show up on flipboard.social. Without doing this, magazines would look empty on flipboard.social because magazines are "boosts" and not actual posts since they are groups. I marked that account as automated as it is a work in progress where we automate the following of flipboard.com users/mags as they federate. From the bio "Account used to ensure Announces (reposts) from magazines on flipboard.com are found on flipboard.social". Does this make sense?

topics are not followable in the fediverse. Some of our users (e.g. publishers and creators) are followable and their magazines. We do offer local news publishers like [@SpotlightPA](https://flipboard.com/@SpotlightPA ) and [@PennLivedotcom](https://flipboard.com/@PennLivedotcom ). The challenge with topics is that they are algorithmic from many non-federated sources so a follow action doesn't make much sense (because the items can change all the time and disappear, re-appear ... it is not follow timeline based). We've had some ideas on how to make it more direct, but not yet ventured down that path. Great question!
