People who want to find cool blocks in the city to add to their corner (21 account feed) or neighborhood (no cap). Or they can visit someone's neighborhood and watch the blocks that person likes. Billboard is discovery in NextBlock. There is no algorithm.
And you get paid and then can zap it out to content you like. So you participate in the circular economy of the city. You fund what becomes premium content overtime.
And you see the price for your attention. So we look for a match every Bitcoin block. Rest of the time, no one stealing your valuable attention.

I would love to push back on this narrative that nostriches hate ads.
I've been working on NextBlock for almost two years. Speaking at conferences, talks, meet ups. So many people I've met are trying to get their ideas out there. They want to promote themselves without feeding big tech. They are excited for us to launch because it would be an ethical way to promote yourself on the Internet. We're building something really exciting at @nextblock using Nostr. I believe it'll bring the mainstream to Nostr and Bitcoin. Building new things takes time but I think lots of cool ideas will take off soon. We're still so early.
Understanding what Nostr actually is can help build that long term conviction to keep paying attention to it.
But as the main place to get your social media fix, no I don't think Nostr is there yet. And that's ok.

Orange/purple pilling can feel so impossible because people are usually acting against their self interest. In all parts of their lives. They can't imagine something better so how could they pursue it?

There are members of the diaspora on Nostr as well but no one actually knows each other. We need real, existing communities to join on together. So information can regularly flow.
Two years ago I tried to get some activists with hundreds of thousands of followers to join and they simply said they didn't have the bandwidth to learn a new app.
So they desperately post 50 times a day on IG now while they get shadow banned.
We are unfortunately just far too early.

Most depressing part of the this all is that the Iranian diaspora is relying on Instagram to tell them what going on. Which Israel controls.
So inside and outside of Iran the narrative is so controlled that (dumb/brainwashed pick your adjective) Iranians everywhere are convinced people are happy to be bombed.
90 million+ people somehow already have the narrative shaped about them hours after a war began.
This is why Nostr is so important.
