this could actually be done by having a tool that just regenerates your host world every time but that needs privileges and also might mess up other users . using a container is much cleaner

need to study cbuild more closely to see how exactly it creates the build root , but that should be fairly simple ?

do say you have a chimera rootfs in /run/user/$UID/cell-root
you need to compile a project , and dont want to install the build deps on your host , youd have to clean it up afterwards . also , using distrobox can feel a bit clunky .
instead , you have a cell.world file in your project dir , with the list of dependencies you need , as if it was a normal world file . you can just run smth like cell-enter and you get drooped in a bwrap container , eith your $HOME mounted properly , kinda like in distrobox , and with minimal dependencies installed (the ones you defined in cell.world)
this kiiinda what id like to do . ofc the inspiration is nix-shell , but the way it works is far simpler and way way more akin to something i would enjoy

it rlly isnt enough for anything i do honestly . actually scratch that , it would be enough if i was ok with my laptop feeling sluggish all the time despite my processor being actually an ok one . upgraded from 8 to 20 last year on my laptop , best thing ive ever done

there is One Thing id actually quite enjoy to have , and thats a container based way of declaring package environments on chimera , in a way similar to how youd do it in a nix shell
enter a project directory that has a world file , just type the command and get dropped in a transparent container that merges that world with the one of the host
but idk this would only solve the tiny annoyance of modifying the host world every time i need smth specific
