Today's the last day of #catjam, and I'm basically free until October, all my slides are made for the presentations I have lined up, no autumn shows to rehearse for once, so I was thinking maybe I should try to make something for #lispGameJam!
I have a pretty good little lisp machine setup, it just needs a bit of love and Varvara bindings, and I could probably just run the Heol system image directly in the itchio page.
Seems doable enough.

We do walk a lot during the summer, but I don't go to the gym and usually have very little to do with my upper body aboard.

I hadn't read PL when I read Frankenstein, I didn't really build a mental image of it at the time like you did, maybe I should have. Now you're making me want to re-read it with fresh eyes!
PL is so freakishly epic, I didn't not expect it to be that violent and horrific and just overly intense(in a Dragon Ball sort of way). It's nothing like The Odyssey, if that's what you're picturing(like I was.. foolishly), it's more like.. Solaris mixed with Evangelion, with a pinch of Cosmicomics. It's much more "spacemetal", leaving me wondering if any of the things referencing the book have actually read the thing or just picked up quotes here and there on wikipedia.

You know what's more dead than Latin? Peano's Latino Sine Flexione. It died a first time when Latin stopped being taught as a language of scientific exchange and people forgot it, then, his auxlang died a second time over when Lsf got absorbed into Interlingua. One could say it's ultramort. And you know how much I like me some dead things.
Anyhow, you're on a boat, it's raining, you don't have any internet access, you're thinking about Sergei Parajanov, you can't just chain-drink coffee all day, you recently learned that the word for snow in Latin is "nive", that's all it took, so what do you do? You translate Barbara's 1940s Le Soleil Noir into Peano's superdead Latin. Because, that's just what you do now, because time is Uv.. Nuh.. Imporchance.
All I've got is a broken Stardict Latin dictionary with Chinese definitions, a short list of common idioms, the only LsF dictionary(fixed version) that Peano ever put out(I think?), one Primo Libro de Interlingua. The issue is that the LsF is full of typos(Optical scan issues I think?), so I wrote a new LsF dictionary, with fewer errors. That's it, that's my day, I don't really know how that's going to misc mit Ol' Computator Caerul- Cal-, no wait that's corn.

Some days we have no power, others no reception, once in a while we have neither. Today was such a day, the oppressing low skies suffocating the signal and covering our solar panels didn't allow for much virtual fussing.
But while penciling out storyboards for our #Catjam entry, Rek pointed out that it might be nice to have a Yufo cameo aboard the train. Genius idea! Let's look at the actual state of that ol' thing.
Written in a haste during the Virtual Pet Jam a few years ago, its codebase was horrendous; Uxn was quite young at the time, the linter in its infancy too. It ran just fine but needed a bit of love if the codebase was ever going to be something worthy of being looked at by anyone.
So, I spent the little power I had left in my laptop rewriting it all in a more standard Uxntal style, with the typical video game OOP patterns that makes the more recent roms somewhat robust. It runs faster, looks and feel nicer too. I've published a new build with metadata and all the other niceties of modern #Uxn projects.
If anyone ever asks who that weird antlered creature on the train is, at least we can be proud to point to Yufo.

It rained tropically all day yesterday, so we didn't wander the woods, I stayed in and worked on my little OpenFirmware-inspired operating system.
It's capable enough that I've added it to uxn11 and uxn2, perfect little tool bounce in and out of roms, set a screen size, rename files, peek at metadata.

I've been working on this little project on and off over the past year or so, the idea is to have something akin to manual pages, or self documenting #uxn roms. So the outside world can peek at the capabilities of a program and build a kind of documentation. Right now, it can't do much more than read the icon, program informations and the content of menus, but I'd love at one point to make myself a kind of puppeteer program like the old Macintosh menubar populated from the program resource package.
Babysteps, still kind of cool to see all this in one place. I wrote about my plan last year here:

I'm not sure if you've ever come across Suilen or 空夜coo:ya or 黒百合姉妹, but it's not too different from the album I shared with you last time, it's a similar darkness.

For the past year, we've track all finances for Hundred Rabbits using a bespoke spreadsheet program that's only 9kb.
I was scratching my head wondering how we could link sheets with each other so that we could jump between them, I realized that a spreadsheet itself is just fine as a file browser if you can open the strings as paths.

I've been puzzling over some bootstrapping thing, and thinking about @npub1fc6…2khj working on the x86 for it, I was curious to how small a binary I could make for the #uxn interpreter that is still capable of running the self-hosted assembler.

I just realized something..
I come from making games with algols where queuing animations used this awkward kind of junk:
.then(() => {}).then(() => {})
Even back then it felt shitty to work that way but it was all I ever known, and over time I'd read about continuations, or stringing along an env variable, it was just all bad, but you learn to live with it.
In catlangs, animation is absolutely seamless: `this then that` is a valid way of sequencing function because the atoms of a catlang can be concatenated. It's the ultimate functional programing scheme since there are no variable bindings to carry along each step of an animation.
