My own favorite ribs recipe.
- Dry salt the ribs (pork or calf) for 12 hours.
- Slow cook the ribs directly over fire in the grill til tender (2-3 hours).
- Mix 2/3 Muscovado suger, 1/3 tomato paste, add some ginger and a bit of garlic. (This is very high sugar density, so be careful with heat)
- Make sure to move the ribe only get very low (150C) indirect heat now and coat them once every 10th minute for half an hour. Make sure the sugar melt but don't burn.
This will give you extremely tasting, tender meat with a thin tasty candy crust. You will never, ever go back prefabricated ribs after this.

I tend to agree. But, I would probably be most worried about corruption, cohesion and infiltration at that point and majority attacks (which is a nut we haven't fully cracked yet).
We don't have the same high fees as BTC on transactions thanks to tail emission, we have privacy and fungibility. So, I believe the means of transaction will stay the same. But, a lot of other worries and problems might arrive at that level and a fork would probably come in to question.

Being excluded from the existing financial system (with exception of a few manipulative CEX's). We see the effect of real supply and demand of a difficult-to-obtain currency. All desperate attempts of media blackout, fud, majority attacks, exclusion, delisting, outlawing has not worked.
Would opening the floodgates to leveraged shortsighted investor capital ever have done any good to monero? EU's banning of privacy coins (and soon noncustodial coins) would have given xmr a big dump. The attempt to take over the project from influential powers, the price manipulation etc. in exchange for a relative stable and organic adoption distributed out to the real users of the currency.
As long as you didn't opt-in on a peak, you would actually have done pretty well holding xmr. Considering monero is not an actual investment, it is just a reasonable currency.

If I buy crypto noncustodial, I have to pay >50 % tax on gains, when i off-ramp/change wallet/swap/buy anything with these cryptos if they've appreciated in value since I bought them. If I have another wallet, where the coin has depreciated I can not deduct the loss from my above gain.
So, where I live multiple people have been bankrupted by buying and selling crypto, unaware of the tax laws in their country.
If I bought an crypto ETF I would only pay ≈ 25% and my loss would be deductible.
Just consider that sentiment structure for brief moment...

Cool, I didn't even know that were possible (or rather how reliable that would be). I knew 10 confirmations might be overkill for a 0.001 xmr transfer.
And the 2of3 multisig makes it possible to integrate DAO's and other contract forms on ETH or SOL.
I just always wondered why development on L2 to monero have such a big resistance. As it is separated from the core monero development, which has be be much more conservative, thoroughly and consensus driven. It could be much more feature focused without jeopardizing monero as such.

We need an L2 settled in monero. You want to be able to pay in seconds when paying at a busy street vendor, no delays. Maybe also a contract layer?
People never stopped making bank transfers, just because the credit card were introduced. The same case could be made for a fast, maybe even off-grid/offline working L2 for monero. I think many vendors of smaller payments, vendors that can't let a customer hold the line for 4 minutes for two confirmations, vendors with subscription sevices etc. would be willing to accept a slightly higher risk (as they already do with most other forms of payment).

I spend a lot of time twisting it this way too, when you hear their CEO they get the benefit of a doubt.
But, even if they didn't spend hugh efforts in preventing users from signing up with VOIP numbers and SMS services (to gain a little privacy), the way they do (Bad for gaining new users and expensive to enforce). They have an Organization registered in the US and has to comply with:
- Patriot Act
- Cloud Act
- Electronic Communications Privacy Act
- Stored Communications Act
- FISA Section 702
- More broadly: Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)
- COPPA
If they don't want to be labeled as a criminal organization they have to comply with these laws. Which inevitably brings us to the question, that even with good intent they have chosen a legal framework to operate under that makes user privacy almost impossible if not directly illegal. KYC may be a compromise. But, we don't really know what other "compromises" they've made and with on-device scanning, post quantum, AI etc. I would not consider Signal a legitimate alternative to most other mainstream chat app.
Briar, Session, SimpleX, Matrix does fine without KYC. So, it should be possible to let people in anonymously, even if they had to charge a fee (I think TG did that at some point).

Exactly, the lines for this is missing. People tend to be either ignorant authoritarian (what ever the government and authorities says) or limitless ultra libertarian or in the middle, drawing some random lines that fit the time and space (zeitgeist).
We need some universal moral and ethical guide lines that can pass the test of time. Some principles that can be easily be understood and accepted by anyone, anywhere at any time.
Though I am not religious in traditional sense, I think religion is what have come closest to creating sound basis for some of these principles.

It will be very interesting to see what happens (if anything) when Monero gets listed on the first DEX (Thorchain.org) within a month or so..
It will give a cleaner picture of how much price is manipulated (or not) through CEX's. I have gut feeling something noticeable will happen. But, I might be way off and the CEX's are not part the real problem here.
This would also give insights into the market mechanics of other cryptos.

Great thoughts!
The dilemma of a natural law: Power corrupt, all organisms wants to expand and increase their sphere of influence. Economics of scale makes competitive advantage fall to the biggest player on the field. This will inevitable lead to wealth accumulation on fewer and fewer hands unless countered (anti-monopoly laws ex.) and drain entrepreneurship and growth. It will lead to ever expanding bureaucracy and government if not clearly confined.
This brings in the whole question of private property (and limitation/confiscation): Liberals/Anarchists will point out the moral/ethical dilemma, that "theft" of the fruit by others labour is inherently problematic. But it also brings the question, you arrived with nothing and leave with nothing, how much and what can you really claim ownership of.
The biggest issue is that we can not apply some virtual principles here. We somehow end up picking and choosing what should be considered public and private.
But, a principal idea like:
- You never decided to be born into this world. Therefore, you have an inherent right to land to live off (as long as you live), that can be inherited and resized based on population growth. This should be your right to food and shelter.
Decentralization has to be ingrained into society on an almost religious/highest of moral principles, to counter this natural phenomenon of corruption of power.
Corporate structures where no one carriers responsibility and everyone looks for fast profit needs to be reconsider, maybe into fund structures like IKEA. Where profit do not go to shareholders or individuals. Some may get a good salary, but unlimited power and wealth by individuals should be keept in check.
What have to be acknowledged is that the ever expanding power of Government or entities like Palantir or Amazon is not a win for society or humanity. Majority support of the first should be irrelevant and funding of the latter should be impossible.
The idea that you can conduct private business AND be liable OR conduct business through a fund where you are NOT liable NOR the owner. This should be common sense, but we have grown accustomed to corporations completely our of control or liability. Ownership with no responsibility is doomed to cause trouble. Investing and helping local enterprises instead of speculating and funding Lockheed Martins next war should be an obvious win for everyone except Lockheed Martin.
Limited liability is the insanity here. A degenerate concept that should make no sense for any thinking individual. Ownership is liability.

Let me put it this way. If I had monopoly on money printing and monopoly on news, media and entertainment. I would make damn well sure that I had a foothold in decentralized platforms like Nostr.

To control the price they need to keep XMR on a few CEX's. TBH I don't think these listings are for the benefit of ordinary users or investors. XMR is not for day-trading, so the "real" volume is low. But it's a mean for the banking cartels to set the price (increased paper-xmr supply or dumping or real xmr), this lowered price is then automatically transferred to the real market as the expected price point.
This can only hold as long as the volume is low. As one guy (McAfee) said, if xmr hits $1000 it will inevitably also hit $1000000.
But, let's see what happens when XMR goes DEX! We may start to see different rates, which may lead to arbitrage trading and they will start to bleed.

You kind of cheer with hesitation in regards to the partnership between Motorola and GrapheneOS.
Hopefully GrapheneOS will end up being recognized by powerful institutions like governments (apps) and get NFC with CC implemented.
Not, being a "rooted" device clearly has it's benefits. But, partnership with a big commercial entity may also come with the price of "legal" compliance measures from secret societies and agencies.
I really hope that this will not erode the security model over time and that the escape hatch is still intact if it does.

XMR, I cashed in half of my BTC and swapped to Monero.
I still have some BTC. But, I really have a hard time arguing why. I can argue for Nvidia or Tesla stocks, Gold and Silver ETFs.

There have been reasonable voices, arguing for an increase. But, it will naturally not happen by the simple logic, that there would have to be broad consensus between the holders of xmr to devalue their own possessions.
So, no matter how good an argument that would be put forth for finding "the perfect" (mathematicaly) tail emission. This would be a very difficult job, that would have a "cost" for the involved.

The idea that the monero community should not HODL or use Monero as a store of value. I really have a hard time understanding.
1. The whole idea of deflation seems very constructed (by the FED's who have vested interest in printing money). Yes, if there is rampant deflation you may delay your unnecessary expenditures till later.
2. If xmr = USD 400 or USD 4000 really don't mean anything in relation to spending or affecting the underlying FIAT value of a produce.
3. I would much rather have the community and individuals to HODL up a high price, for nefarious actors or hostile market manipulators to take over. They will create volatility, pumps and dumps so the price setting your goods will be more problematic, not individuals with noncustodial wallets.
3. It hasn't become easier over time to obtain monero. I don't see that on-ramping in five years would make you look less suspicious than today. When enrolling normie's and newcomers, YOU may be their only realistic option to on-ramp with a cash payment.
4. I would rather have an excess of xmr and be able to help out friends of family that may be in need one day (It could be leaving the country or buying meds the doctor will not proscribe them, or just purchases or donations that could hurt them in their public or private affairs).
5. You get your salary in FIAT and they sit in a savings account inflating wildly. Isn't the goal of xmr not to be "digital cash"?

It has always shocked me how much people object to other peoples freedom and independance. How much they judge, how many opinions they have about other people's hair style, lifestyle choices, habits or customs.

Deflation/capped supply is not by itself a value proposition. My daughters children's drawings before she turned 10 has a capped supply. The world has seen billions of artists and craftsmen through out history. Their capped supply can in very, very rare occasion work as a limitation relatively to demand that will drive up price.
The demand part needs to build on something other than a supply alone. Otherwise the only features it has is attracting and enrolling new participants. The clear definition of a ponzi scheme.

In some countries apartments, or specific residential apartments are not taxed.
But, it's beside the point. You can live well in an apartment for $2000/mnt. in most countries on this earth. Even in a western country it should not be a problem to find an apartment for $500/mnt.
You will never be able to avoid taxes, even if you only deal in cash or monero. Taxes will indirectly be included in some of your purchases. You can only optimize.

I agree with today's static view you have to invest in Nasdaq 100 technology index to get above 16% percent. Invest in assets like gold, silver or monero.
You also assume that people will not attribute a single dollar to society afterwards. Not, any work, any freelance, any art, any movement that will provide any profit.
But, is that realistic? Will you not always create, help out here and there..?
Thus the inflation of USD 2000/yr would that not either be consumed by any existing pension you may have or work that you provide on your way?

If you have $2,000/mnt you can basically live a life most people can only dream about. Traveling practically 80% of the world and have plenty.
To get $2,000/mnt I will assume that a 10% ROI is the absolute minimum on basically all investments today (even p2p lending, company bonds, real estate rent etc. almost all reach that level today). So, here we expect that the real ROI is between 12-16% and there fore still allows for grows of 2-6% PA.
So, you need an invested saving of 12x2000 (USD 24000 a year) x10 to get this interest. So, USD 240,000. Yes, it's still a lot of money!
But, let's say you have USD 100,000 today and you get 16% interest. How many years will it take you to reach 240,000? It will take 5yr and 6 month. This is hardly enough time to plan out your life in freedom.
You may also consider how to reduce or eliminate taxation of your saving/investment from day one.

Not, that I think you were wrong in your first estimates (Personally I would not have been surprised if BTC hit 46k and I still thinks it will within12 month). The big question is xmr and where it will be in 12 month. Monero is not just Wall Street market making, but the dark web and coming DEX's that needs to go in to that equation and possible broadened adoption in general.

True, the customer product relation is obvious different now. This is not just advertising (there is no money in that field anymore) it is ownership and funding. But, is seems that news papers has always been used to buy influence and propaganda even 100 years ago.

Monero will go right back up again. The liquidity on the CEX's is just very small compared to all other coins. So, there is not much to consume this sell off in particular when you consider that most of the "real" buyers are not using the CEX's and these are still the ones setting the "official" price.
The need for xmr is only increasing. So, the second this speculative wave of sell orders has slowly been consumed by real monero bro's, price will settle on a normal level again and monero will have changed hands from the wrongs to the rights.

When you have bought stocks and assets for borrowed money (leverage), you get liquidated when the loan exceed a certain ratio of valuation.
Things can escalate very quickly and broaden into real este, employment etc.
The people pulling out of the market now and shorting the right assets, is also the ones that will be buying up for pennies in 6 month time.
