I oppose getting into foreign wars - I do not want US taxpayers to foot the bill to battle every authoritarian regime. I want to focus on the issues we have here in the US. I also do not like the profiteering by "the few" (that include members of Congress) at the expense of US taxpayers and US/foreign countries' lives.
However, I also detest known human rights violations that include executions and wanton death. So I'm a little conflicted with these precision strikes that can lead to regime change.
However, without the right (and non-corrupt) opposition leaders in place to assume interim leadership until fair elections, the new regime could be worse than the previous regime.
Regardless, these protests are more about hating Trump than it is caring for humanity or sovereignty.

No ID and was unlawfully conceal carrying - and I agree with a couple of assessments.
- I have conceal carry - they make it abundantly clear that you keep your hands up and notify the officers you are carrying if ever interacting with law enforcement.
- once he didn’t notify them, and resisted arrest, he sealed his fate. With so much going on- including protestors attacking and beating officers, and biting off fingers, as soon as you see that undeclared weapon, you have seconds to react for your own safety and the safety of others.
Now, when I saw the footage, I was irritated when it looks like one of the officers was trying to get some sucker punches in…but again, the guy was resisting arrest AFTER unlawfully obstructing them in their duties.
I’m 58 years old in a couple weeks - never supported eliminating the filibuster…I do now. This generation of leftists and corrupt, thieving politicians reveling in lawfare, will be the death of our republic and sovereignty.
Impeach activist judges, pass the SAVE act, follow all money trails and unapologetically put ALL corrupt politicians and NGOs behind bars and/or try for treason.

Not sure this would warrant execution (although I agree it would be a very effective deterrent). Now - for pedophiles, drug/sex trafficking, traitors to the country - versus just massive fraud with things like medicaid/daycare even election fraud - executions should be in play. Fraud should face full confiscation of all wealth/assets and deportations...preferably to a jurisdiction that would jail them and use them as labor for some productivity and doing a revenue share on that production between the jurisdiction and the US (to further offset the costs of the fraud).

Because I had to move quickly, and consider my wife uses some of these notes, it was easiest to go to Apple Notes...which is free for both of us versus a lot of the others required paid subscriptions.
That wasn't the case with Joplin, but I think I had to determine whether I was going to self-host or use their cloud...didn't even see if their cloud was a paid option.
I'll revisit soon because Joplin was mentioned by several folks.

Living this right now. One couple in our small group just had their RV stolen from an RV storage facility. They found it trashed and littered with both drugs and live rounds (no firearms there because they were probably actively using those to commit crimes elsewhere).
We love Colorado and Denver, but what the current administration is allowing is criminal...just like most every other Blue State governor and legislators. I'd like to purchase another home in a red state (like Texas, Tennessee, or South Carolina...too windy in Wyoming), but then I remember that all other assets are 💩 coins relative to #bitcoin

Absolutely agree...and I no longer do software development or analytics, but I remember when I had no real resources to learn or bounce ideas off of back then. Heck, I go back to Oracle v5 and Oracle SQLForms...besides the fortran and assembly I wrote in college (as a mechanical engineer) in the late 80s. 🤣
And now the analytics are all open-source vs stuff like Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
All of that to say - it fatigued me to think about re-inventing myself AGAIN, as a consultant, to be a productive contributor in the builder space...although I'd be happy to evangelize/teach regarding "Why Bitcoin". But I'm at a point where I would only want to do that a few hours/week...and in off-season...because my primary mission now is teaching tennis to juniors - teaching competency, confidence, and "not everybody gets a medal" to make the next generation a little more tough, self-assured and not afraid of failure.

Think that ship has sailed for THIS election cycle. At this point, I'm hoping for one more Trump term and then a decent succession plan that hopefully includes some common sense.
If they would be serious about a Bitcoin reserve...and somehow pegging the dollar to Bitcoin or "basket of hard assets" to start the groundwork for no more printing, that takes care of a lot of woes (forever wars, climate/DEI boondoggles, etc). Oh, and take care of that pesky immigration issue.

I've had a Swan IRA since early 2022. I'm debating moving over to Unchained...especially while Unchained running their special (through Aug 15th) and waiving significant fees.
You look at review sites and Swan outranks Unchained. So I would like some first-person experienced input.
If you are an Unchained client...
- Would you happily make the same choice?
- Do you have an Unchained IRA?
- What other Unchained products do you use?
I am considering making this move because...
- Swan still doesn't allow you to hold your own keys for a Bitcoin IRA due to lack of "regulatory clarity" if the IRS comes after you due to unfettered access to your Bitcoin (McNulty case). FYI, that isn't completely true...Swan will allow you to do a Checkbook IRA, but Unchained seems to provide a better "design" with the 2-of-3 multisig to allow them to audit transactions without them having control.
- When Swan went through their layoffs, they got rid of a lot of people providing the main reason for me staying so loyal to Swan (Dante, Callahan, Livera, etc). I valued Swan because of their significant contribution to Bitcoin education.
- Love him or not, Cory also made some great calls on rug-pulling companies. He has also been a great ambassador on MSM as he was making those calls. I haven't noticed whether there has been fallout since Swan itself "got out over their skis" and gambled on price to the point they need to now make headcount/budget cuts.
I do think there are still some great people at Swan - Lubka is always great and responsive and their support team is outstanding and highly competent. Their IRA and transaction fees are also very reasonable (and no fees to move to self-custody for non-IRA BTC). They also have ACH! I can't believe Unchained still doesn't have that capability?
Anyway, I'd love some thoughts on the Unchained IRA and Unchained in general. I like several of their folks, also...although was disappointed when Parker moved on (but like what he is doing at Zaprite...although I can't afford it for the transaction level of my own business).

I totally agree with this post - and I worry about the phone call when people I care about find out they have Type-2 diabetes (or worse, heart disease) when they have been banging the body positive drum for years.
Interesting about pushups. I implement them in my lessons and my high school tennis sessions all the time. However, I've lowered the bar...they generally do 5 pushups at a time - or 15 to 20 squats.
I even bet them - when trying to hit targets - that they have to do 5 pushups if they miss all tries, but I'll do 25 pushups for every one they make. I have had to pump out 100 pushups with all of them counting...and I'm 56. Not a single one of my student-athletes could do 30...yet! Give me time (if I don't get kicked out of coaching for holding them accountable for fitness and striving for excellence).

I pretty much use honey and maple syrup as sweeteners (one provides decent amount of fructose and the other sucrose). Occasionally, I'll use monkfruit and my electrolyte mix (LMNT) has stevia.
I started using those more liberally after my last couple of fasting glucose numbers were in the high-90s. However, I'm still not concerned because my diet tends to be glucose-sparing...so the fasting glucose can get high. My fasting insulin is quite low and all other blood markers in great shape. Well...except that higher LDL that has every doctor wanting to give me a statin even though my Triglyceride/HDL ratio is less than 1.0.

Man - I have two adult daughters and 3 grandkids...I could pay to fly them to us, of course...hey, I'm saving 1% to 44.6% on taxes...but my wife will NEVER like that plan.
I told her that as an unvaccinated, non-compliant, active participant in 2nd Amendment rights #bitcoiner...I kind of put a target on our backs here.

Hmm...and I want something for my "checking account" wallet. I was currently using BlueWallet for Onchain and Muun for Lightning. Had also considered Phoenix, Mutiny...and Aqua Wallet.
I'd likely use Sparrow for larger on-chain transactions (tied to a ColdCard).
Was wondering if Cold Card (storage), Sparrow (desktop) and Aqua Wallet would cover most of my bases. But sounds like you are using Phoenix for that "checking account".

I'm thinking of consolidating two lightning wallets (BlueWallet and Muun) to Aqua Wallet. I watched BTC Sessions video on Aqua Wallet and seems like they have a slick product that's one-stop shopping in regard to onchain/Lightning/Liquid.
I get a little concerned when they talk about altcoin support, but those are via API and the wallet is to remain Bitcoin-only.

I grew up in South Texas where a high school class held competitions on who could accurately identify grasses (I wasn't an Ag kid, by the way).
There is DEFINITELY a science to agriculture to feed people/animals...or groundskeeping for stadiums, golf courses, etc.
But that's a far cry from the guy on the lawnmower with his airpods in...just cruising (and sweating) while pumping out his 6-10 hours/day of work. It's honest work, but it is low skill.
Yes - any customer facing job requires social skills, but the ones with the highest knack for it will gravitate to waiting at nice restaurants where they are rewarded for those social skills...or they are moving up to higher pay and adding new skills to their portfolio.
Me, I never wanted to deal with patrons in a restaurant, so I swung a hammer in high school and college...until I got an engineering degree...then career-pivoted into software development and analytics based upon self-study and recognizing opportunity.

Wow - I read 4 of them: Earthsea, Narnia, Potter, and Lord of the Rings. Couldn't even begin to rank them because they were transcendent and timeless.
I would add two more that I loved: Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising and Patricia McKillip's Riddle of Stars (also called the Riddlemaster Trilogy).
Both are more suited to Young Adult - like the others I read in this list - but still superb.

I heard Saifedean on a CarnivoreMD podcast...then Breedlove...then went down the Breedlove/Saylor rabbit hole while reading the Bitcoin Standard.
Felt like I jumped straight to the "Bitcoin is going to set everyone free" in about 40 hours of study from the perfect sources, at the perfect time.

Good point - you would assume so by the source...but I think it probably bears out in other industries due to the high stress...and feeling that you can never catch up and will outlive your savings.

Interesting - I chose to semi-retire at 50, so got the numbers working in my favor. And honestly thought my job was killing me (because of my Type-A personality that I struggle with even today).
I'm still planning on living to over 100, though! 😉 And teaching tennis - mostly to a bunch of juniors that want to run me all over the court - should keep me young for awhile.

Same regarding Strike - one of the ranchers here in Denver uses it. I’ve debated accepting bitcoin payments for my tennis lessons, but I’d like to just send them to a wallet vs having to use a zaprite or BTCPay server.
I have time to research stuff, since semi-retired, but still highly weight personal recommendations.

I was intrigued - it has good reviews and seems like it is designed with an eye toward the future with Onchain, Lightning, Liquid...even handling stablecoins. Not that the last use case means much to me. Most of my "gotta have it now" transactions would be in support of the circular #btc economy by paying with sats vs USD for small purchases.
I'm just not the type to want a bunch of wallets with small amounts in them - want to consolidate. I am using Sparrow for watch-onlys with my different hardware devices...now want a good mobile hot wallet that can do "all the other things" and act like the "checking account" with pretty small balances.

Since I stack sats, versus spend them, I keep very small balances in Lightning wallets...a BlueWallet that I use to zap on nostr and a Muun wallet for transacting with other bitcoiners in person (I used this one at Pacific Bitcoin).
I'm interested in moving off of at least Muun, but what's the latest reviews/recommendations on mobile Lightning wallets...particularly:
- Aqua (handles Lightning, on-chain, and Liquid...if I ever decided that was of interest)
- Phoenix
- Mutiny
- BlueWallet (old, familiar standby that I also used for watch-only with ColdCard before moving to Sparrow)

I'm a couple weeks shy of 56 years old, so I know I've slowed down. But I'm still generally the quickest on the tennis court...regardless of the ages of the other guys on the court.
Helps to be playing with juniors all the time - and consecutively on most days - to keep the motor running.
But it still isn't the same as running straight line sprints - preferably on a football/soccer field vs concrete path. I've also experimented with swim sprints just because my body takes a beating on hard courts all the time.

I like how they made it so convenient for me, by color-coding everything, to decide where I SHOULD be living.
Unfortunately, I'm in beautiful CO...which consistently continues to not vote with my values. My county does...but Denver/Boulder rule the roost here.
Texas (where I was born and raised but is BLASTED HOT), South Carolina (lived there for a few years and have grandkids there), and Tennessee (Knoxville is beautiful) are looking pretty good.
