another example of philosophy flip-flopping (caveat: Core isnt a monolith -- different contributors now) are the comments Core made on compact block filters.
when compact block filters was announced it was to announce to miners/pools to implement them in order to more closely align with the p2p network. at the time fees were elevated, as some exchanges and pools were stuffing blocks (perhaps to make an argument for big blocks). "follow the <compact block filters> p2p network or risk your blocks being orphaned".
this got turned on its head with the OP_Return PR. "node's compact block filters should follow what the miners are mining"

nope, not a hardfork. bip110 uses existing consensus rules rather than adding new ones making it compatible with all nodes on the network
nodes that enforce bip110 would not ever see the offending block as valid, making the enforcing node only ever compatible with one side of the chainsplit.
nodes that dont enforce bip110 remain compatible with both , but only one side of the chainsplit carrying perpetual wipeout risk. both sides of the chainsplit ultimately cant coexist without a hard fork present
a hardfork would explicitly reject bip110 blocks which would be adding a rule.

its just the same utxo set.
functionally, you're not going to be able to interact with the network(s) properly as there would exist no mechanism to prevent your tx to not replay on all networks.
the idea that a stalled bip110 attempt creates an opportunity for proponents to forward bitcoins to detractors is wishful thinking 😅 or possibly pure avarice

its not, bip110 blocks remain compatible with exisiting nodes on the network which is why there exist the possibility of wipeout (however small). the wipeout risk wouldnt be solved without a solution like your checkpoint, which is a forced upgrade.

im pretty sure chinese teacups have no handles because of their generally smaller size and unique shape which makes handles unnecessary.
non-fermented tea (green tea) lightly fermented teas (oolongs, aged white teas) are often brewed at higher too-hot-to-handle temperatures 90c-95c which some choose to enjoy at to get the full spectrum of flavor.

today drove out to miaoli, taiwan where they farm mitten crabs. mostly known as a delicacy in shanghai cuisine, these crabs were mostly known to be from the jiangsu province in china

mitten crabs mature in seawater and spawned in freshwater. during the fall months the mature crabs make their way back to where they come from.
taiwan has it's native hairy crab species, but for a couple decades the entrepreneurs in miaoli decided to farm the more sought species from across the strait.

these freshwater mitten crabs are mostly farmed, its sustainability comes down to economics as mitten crabs technically are invasive to Taiwan (taiwan has its own native species of hairy crabs 毛蟹 so ecological damage is somewhat limited)
ocean crabs have size requirements to meet and there are harvest quotas throughout the year -- there are even times out of the year where females aren't sold

filters work (Core w/ PR28408 compared to mempool-space today ). What nodes choose to pass on to peers is none of anyone's business, nodes have always been able to come into consensus despite not sharing policy.
spam ad nauseum aside, nodes hear about transactions at different times by design and it shouldnt be expected that nodes must relay the same transactions either.
the detriment to block propagation from a network with diverse policy has always been on the nodes which choose to propagate junk that others do not. Seeeing how there's no requirement that other nodes must participate in propagating compact blocks, the best course of action for the nefarious actors is to mine the blocks first (or pay someone to do it for them -oob-). Forcing this behaviour isn't a centralizing force to miners, it's normal incentives; if they want to push their luck, go for it. Nodes have all the reason to utilize any tools to make their odds suck a little harder.
when I see that mempool-space is so different than my own instance, im reminded of clicking through block explorers back in 2016 when mining pools were stuffing transactions to fill up blocks jacking up fee rates for years. "I should take running a node more seriously"
