#asknostr Are there any nostr podcasts? I'm starving for more nostr talk.
Cold exposure helps a lot. Put your head under the shower, for instance.
Well it definitely does

I already feel like I'm valuing them more. When I read through an interesting essay and I don't find some AI-ism, I feel relief and appreciation.
There was a time when I did research on some topic and could write pages (no AI). Feel too lazy to do it anymore.
Although I think this kind of write up will be rare and have more value in future.
You know my favorite way to view bitcoin? Electronic peer-to-peer cash. Punk Internet money. I kind of imagine a mix of Cyberpunk and Mirror's Edge when I say this. #bitcoin #btc
I'm confused. Are you hating on folks who build but don't have the clout of those who ship stuff on the zapstore or whatever?
RAIN! Much needed *severe thunderstorms* after this heat wave.
Wow wow wow, based as hell. Love it.
Why would it break? Genuinely tho. Just too much to store?
For us, the ”other stuff” is food. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been cooking up.

That's amazing. Well, you're almost right. There's Mirage, which is an invite only reddit alternative built on a blockchain, but I think it's its own, non-monetary blockchain. The tokens just let you do more stuff in the app. Anyway they also just use a word (a hashtag) for the community/topic. But anyway I've been wanting to make something like that forever. That's a winning idea.
hell no, thankfully they updated the nip to not use kind 1 anymore for this reddit style forum posting, that's why i didn't stick posting on forums when it was introduced, as that annoyed the hell out of me.
It's using kind 34550 for the community, and kind 1111 (comment type that acts both as a post and a comment, comments use the same kind but structured differently to avoid having them appear as posts).
You can read up on it if you want here:
https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/72.md
And for the open community type, the "community" isn't a kind but rather just a word (like "gaming") and posts within it are the same kind 1111 but pointing at the word (t tag if i remember) rather than an address with kind 34550. This is basically a custom new approach that no client has done yet (at least as far as i'm aware. I wanted this because i didn't want to hop between two different "gaming" forums, but rather just go to THE "gaming" forum, but i also have the option to go to "gaming"-"by smeef" if i want.
Hey I've noticed a lot of asian folks are coming from bchnostr. Its fun to get a more multi cultural experience on here. Is BCH popular in a particular Asian country?
I found this paper about decentralizing the #lightning network. I've never seen anyone talking about this. They present a way forward on decentralizing liquidity. The abstract is an easy read. #bitcoin
```
The fundamental objective of the Lightning Network is to establish a decentralized platform for scaling the Bitcoin network and facilitating high-throughput micropayments. However, this network has gradually deviated from its decentralized topology since its operational inception, and its resources have quickly shifted towards centralization. The evolution of the network and the changes in its topology have been critically reviewed and criticized due to its increasing centralization. This study delves into the network’s topology and the reasons behind its centralized evolution. We explain the incentives of various participating nodes in the network and propose a score-based strategy for the Lightning Autopilot system, which is responsible for automatically establishing new payment channels for the nodes joining the network. Our study demonstrates that utilizing the proposed strategy could significantly aid in reducing the network’s centralization. This strategy is grounded in qualitative labeling of network nodes based on topological and protocol features, followed by the creation of a scoring and recommendation model. Results of the experiments indicate that in the evolved network using the proposed strategy, concentration indicators such as the Gini coefficient can decrease by up to 17%, and channels ownership of the top 1% of hubs decrease by 27% compared to other autopilot strategies. Moreover, through simulated targeted attacks on hubs and channels, it is shown that by adopting the proposed strategy, the network’s resilience is increased compared to the existing autopilot strategies for evolved networks. The proposed method from this research can also be integrated into operational Lightning clients and potentially replace the current recommendation methods used in Lightning Autopilot.
No, my point is to stop doomering about Nostr. We don't have the killer apps yet, and the network effect is too weak at the moment. It means more time and for the rest of the internet to get worse to push people here.
Frick, I don't have Apple TV anymore. I'm gonna have to find a different way to watch the last season.
I don't really get the mental health part, but I like it lol. It'd be funny to convince someone of the opposite of what the world's governments think just from a privacy policy statement
I like it.
And bro, give me a break. People just want apps that HAVE PEOPLE ON THEM. Stop doomering.
Minibits lets you make nostr payments easily *on nostr* is what I meant
No I get it. Lightning rn isn't a perfect solution, but that's mainly because of centralization issues and onboarding. For the record, the Pheonix android app abstracts everything away and makes it extremely easy to use. The minibits app lets you make lightning payments very easily. So the tools are out there now.
However there are ways to decentralize lightning before, I found a research paper about that.
I have found Bitcoin Lightening to be very lacking. It was extremely confusing and I never was able to set it up to be able to receive Lightening Zaps on nostr.
Also, Lightening isn't on-chain, like the Bitcoin Cash tips I am using now.
Hello people, what do you think of my alternative name for "decentralized tech"? "Communal tech."
Isn't that kinda cute? I like it. It adds what might be my favorite aspect of this space. We create this protocol together through shared consensus, so it's fundamentally a communal endeavor. The nontechnical are a part of it too because they'll tell us what aspects of our protocol suck lol. And the more people, the more fun Nostr clients will be to use. #asknostr
nostr is for people who like freedom.
And holy shit, apparently nobody likes freedom.
I like bc. Great unixy tool.
You should be able to report bots that aren't marked as bots. #nostr
Amethyst, why do you need people to set up their DM inboxes when Wisp lets you messages anyone and it just works?
The fact that finance and taxes aren't taught in schools in America is evidence enough that our government is broken.
Oh, I see it now. You can generate a new key for every single one. That's really cool.
I'm curious what people think of this take. #bitcoin #asknostr
Is there any way to accelerate the creation of a wide area mesh network? I feel like that's most of what we're missing.
Did it Dorsey instantaneously promote Nostr?
I wonder if people move to BCH because bitcoiners are so cringe
I'm confused. Doesn't this just dox your location?
I just made two different dittos both with local toxicity filtering ideas.
1. Uses a local model running in LM Studio (with cors enabled). It prompts the LLM to get a toxicity level for each post. Could use a better prompt...
2. This uses a tiny bert model that is stored in your browser. It's pretty laggy and the analysis isn't great but it's a proof of concept lol.
Just ideas. I'm considering using the 1st method. With a better prompt it could be pretty good. #filters #moderation #nostrdev
I love the way this post ends, #Amethyst.
Oh I know it's functional! I just 1. don't want to KYC and 2. don't feel like setting up my vps to send another port to my pc to run it lol.
But mostly it's because of my experience with zap.stream. It just worked. The decentralized infrastructure was available to little ol me without any work on my part.
