Ebolavirus is one of those things where I'm likely deciding my family is more important than me going to work. Most hospitals are not equipped to deal with something like that at scale (infection control breaks down fast with acuity and staffing shortages) and hospitals (where people will naturally go) will likely exacerbate the problem.
These are the sorts of outbreaks that really should be contained aggressively.
Part of the problem with the Covid bullshit was that we made decisions on the fly (some good intentioned, some not) instead of having a rational plan (with clear boundaries and definitions of success) in place for quickly containing nasty shit like this.

Zaps are public. Everyone can see the npub of the sender and of the receiver, (and the amount too?). I hope everyone agrees with that definition of zap; if not, then we're talking past each other
In that context, what are the actual concerns?
You'd like the txid to be private, and generally to keep the onchain activity private?
So you're happy that there is a nostr event with the sender and receiver, telling the world that an on chain zap occurred, but you don't want to announce any on-chain address or txid?
If the amount is public, then it might be easy to find the transaction simply by looking at the transactions at the right time with the right amount

This. I use lightning addresses for my profile and for fundraisers that are controlled by a group. It's not my address, I just have permission to use it.
And I have cycled through various addresses. I even changed the wallet behind the addresses. There's an abstraction and obfuscation and deniability layer to Lightning that on-chain simply doesn't have.
I think it’ll be like polls. People will use it for a week or two then forget about it 😂

Let's assume that "zap" means "public". i.e. If A zaps B, then everyone can see that A zapped B
In that context, it doesn't matter if the on-chain address is re-used. If each payment has a different address, then everyone can still see the public zap events, and everyone can see all the addresses and the balance
Therefore, I don't think anybody actually has a problem with address re-use *in the context of on-chain zaps*. The real question is whether people like public on-chain payments

It is like a large flat blade screwdriver. If you are only using it to turn screws you are missing out. Doesn't matter what they designed it to do, use it in the way that serves you.
Then Milwaukee comes along and designs a version of a large flat-head screwdriver around the other uses instead of screws. In the same way Luddites wanted to ban or control every technology before, especially those that educate people. How have I ceded my authority to AI by telling it what I know about Zen and how I've studied in the past and asking it for the right material for me to study next? Then I go an read the book with an idea where it fits into the broader knowledge base I already have, how is that ceding to AI? I also cross check multiple AI models against each other and I see for myself which ones best align with my knowledge from primary sources.
