MADE FOR WORKING TOGETHER
“Whenever you have trouble getting up in the morning, remind yourself that you’ve been made by nature for the purpose of working with others, whereas even unthinking animals share sleeping. And it’s our own natural purpose that is more fitting and more satisfying.”

Use coffee to correct inertia, not to fuel unrest. It should be a tool for momentum, not gasoline for your inner noise. #Mindfulness #Focus #Ritual
The value of simple choices.
As the years go by, our perspective shifts. We value the superfluous less and prioritize mental clarity. Movement becomes a healing ritual, nature our most honest refuge, and silence our best advisor. True freedom does not lie in what we possess but in the serenity with which we inhabit our own body and mind. Happiness is a state we cultivate from within.

People who practice Qigong get irritated too. People who meditate also lose their temper and let out a few swear words from time to time. Those who work with the nervous system also experience emotional dysregulation. Even those dedicated to bodywork keep discovering parts of themselves that still hurt. Do not confuse personal growth with an illusory state of enlightenment or perfection. Let’s remain human, please.

Really enjoyed your recap of your 1st Vipassana course! Sounds like you went pretty deep and made some real progress during the 10 days. Most of my experiences outside of the ordinary also happen while lying in bed after the day's meditation. Great job with keeping up the daily sits! After many years of daily practice and many courses, I can attest that it's well worth the effort and makes life better every day. Metta.
Today's dose of Pratchett Preachin' comes from Small Gods - Pratchett's meditation on faith, wonder, and the strange ways humans decide what counts as a miracle.
"Humans! They lived in a world where the grass continued to be green and the sun rose every day and flowers regularly turned into fruit, and what impressed them? Weeping statues. And wine made out of water! A mere quantum-mechanistic tunnel effect, that'd happen anyway if you were prepared to wait zillions of years. As if the turning of sunlight into wine, by means of vines and grapes and time and enzymes, wasn't a thousand times more impressive and happened all the time..."
There's a quiet subversion in that passage. Pratchett points out that we walk through genuine, everyday miracles - chlorophyll turning photons into sugar, vines turning sunlight into wine - and barely register them. Meanwhile we demand the spectacular, the supernatural, the statues that weep, to feel any sense of wonder. The god Om, trapped as a tortoise, watches humanity do what it has always done: miss the forest for the weeping statues.
I took a 10 day Vipassana Meditation course and here's what happened. This is available as an audio podcast episode, visit https://wildburro.net/ for links https://v.nostr.build/w3pOq6tIaYwSWRnS.mp4

FORGIVE THEM BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW
“As Plato said, every soul is deprived of truth against its will. The same holds true for justice, self-control, goodwill to others, and every similar virtue. It’s essential to constantly keep this in your mind, for it will make you more gentle to all.”

So here's the full picture.
We have a sutta — the Cakkavattisīhanāda Sutta (จักกวัตติสูตร, DN26) — that gives ordinary people a standard to judge rulers. Poverty is state failure, not personal karma. The Buddha himself taught this.
Then we have a system that quietly removed this sutta from what gets taught, while amplifying everything that makes compliance feel like practice. Meditation, cosmology, personal ethics, Traibhumi royal legitimacy.
The result isn't conspiracy. It's saññā-vipallāsa — perception distortion — at civilizational scale. Not a cabal of bad monks. Just an institution doing what institutions do: preserving itself by controlling what counts as knowledge.
And the people who carry the blind spots? They believe them as genuine conviction. "Buddha wouldn't get involved in politics." "The canon is about inner transformation, not social justice." These aren't lies — they're absences, hollowed out so completely that nobody notices the hole.
The most radical thing you can do in Thai Buddhism today might just be to ask: what are we NOT being taught?
Because that's where the truth is hiding. #siamstr
Here's how selective erasure actually works: you don't ban the text. You just never teach it.
Thai Buddhist education preserves what makes you a better subject — meditation, cosmology, personal ethics, Traibhumi royal legitimacy. It quietly drops what gives you leverage over power.
The result? People carry blind spots as personal conviction. "Buddha wouldn't get involved in politics" isn't wrong thinking — it's successfully internalized suppression. The system worked so well that sincere Dhamma practitioners believe these teachings never existed.
You don't need enforcers when people police their own curiosity. You just need a curriculum that emphasizes the right suttas and ignores the rest. Same mechanism as every institution that ever wanted to control truth without appearing to censor it. #siamstr
We've been taught that poverty is karma. Past life actions, present suffering, accept it and practice.
But the Cakkavattisīhanāda Sutta (จักกวัตติสูตร, DN26) says something radically different: when a king doesn't provide resources to his people, poverty spreads like wildfire. It's not individual merit — it's structural failure.
This flips the entire moral framework of Thai Buddhism on its head. If you're poor, it's not your bad past actions. The system failed you.
And that's exactly why this teaching got quietly removed from what gets taught in temples and schools. Not banned — just never mentioned. Let it sit in the Tipitaka gathering dust while everyone learns meditation and personal ethics.
The texts are technically available. Nobody knows they exist or why they matter. That's how you suppress revolutionary ideas without appearing to censor anything. #siamstr
