For me personally Bitcoin is the black pill and Monero is the white pill.
When I look at Bitcoin, I see an ambitious project that started with its heart in the right place. But over the years it got captured and corrupted.
Then there is the little sibling of Bitcoin named Monero. It saw what happened to the older one and tried to learn from its mistakes. And so far it seems to me, that it got most stuff mostly right. There were a few lessons learned on the way, but overall Monero gives me hope. Hope that we can fight back against the giant machinery that tries to crush us all. Hope that all that it takes is a few courageous rebels, that uphold their ambitious values and fight for them.
Tell me you don't understand open source software without telling me....
Neither bip110, hww hacks or nostr adoption have any effect on how I'm going to live my life.

Evidence Bitcoin is "devouring the fiat system before our eyes?"
Because it sure seems to me adoption and sovereign usage are DOWN.
I have a self-hosted lnadr instance that calls back to my node. I took it down after the BTCpay problems last week.
Appreciate the thought.
Why?
Do you think a single adversary controls enough outputs to identify the true spend?
Good question, there are five distinct eras that need their own audit path.
I have temporarily repurposed my #Monero miners to check the validity of all the transactions.
This means making sure EVERY output that has EVER been spent has a valid range proof and couldn't inflate the monero supply.
Obviously I don't expect to find anything, The fact that they're on the chain indicates they fit the consensus rules. I'm doing it for my own education and for basic verification.
Also
Don't hold your breath for breaking news, it will take weeks.
Nice FUD there bro.
Corrupting Monero isn't the same as attacking it.
The group that did the selfish-mining-attack, were NOT able to have a sustained 51% attack. There is a paper that has all the data about that incident: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2512.01437
That the attacker abused an inflation bug is complete nonsense. The only inflation bug that was found was many years ago, got fixed immediately and the research trying to check for an actual usage of that inflation bug found basically nothing. https://www.moneroinflation.com/
I don't want to speculate why you're spreading this level of FUD, but maybe do some actual research next time.
Also all Monero devs that have more rights have build trust with the community over years. Ontop of that every major/important code change gets audited from third parties before it gets deployed to mainnet.
I think you were talking about Zcash.
Do you have any argument/hint/data that suggests Monero could actually be a fed coin?

HW wallets are insecure, use USB stick + Tails OS + desktop wallet is much securer
#nevent1q…vykc
#nevent1q…ha52
#nevent1q…he9h
HW wallet is an obvious visual indicative that the user is involved with crypto, a common USB stick with Tails that won't be obvious (although could rise suspicion about possible crypto ownership)
HW wallets sucks, you won't have a great level of plausible deniability if you use them
more of this

I guess I don't know how QR codes work
Are all psbt QR codes interchangeable between devices?
Is there a QR format that is agreed upon?
I feel like there should be a way to get a TX into Sparrow. Does it already do it?
Yeah
Stuff you could do over 14.4 ❤️
You kinda need QR codes for normies.
Ain't nobody got time for SD cards or USB drives
more solid than whatever this is
How are you getting signed txs off the airgapped device exactly?
Where do you see any evidence that Bitcoin will become the standard and that It's absorption into the legacy system will make a meaningful difference?
What could possibly go wrong?
True 🤔 I've never noticed that before. Weird. Probably just a coding bug?
But overall an interesting question how you would handle the amount of filling with a dynamic blocksize.
To put it in maybe a simpler way
The proofs are on the chain, we can go back and look at them. But in the past (or now or with any transaction ever) if an adversary could build a *lying proof,
one that says to the network "this tx does not create or destroy monero,"
but really it DOES, then you have an undetectable inflation bug.
So the criticism of Monero is that there is that extra layer of trust in the proof.
Which is fine if you're not comfortable with that. Everybody has to think about their own threat model.
I mean
Bitcoiners trust different kinds of cryptographic guarantees everyday. Why is cryptographic verification of supply a non-starter? They're like no coiners who dont understand why their private key can't be hacked.
So it's not intellectually consistent, but people can do whatever they want 😂
#bitcoin #monero
Umm I think you're both right?
It's always true of course we can't see amounts and do simple arithmetic to prove supply. So it depends on what level of proof you're comfortable with.
But we absolutely can go back and look at the ledger and prove that the transactions in it are consensus valid. Which involves proving that no additional Monero were created.
I think it's important to remember that a blockchain is a chain of blocks right? And inside those blocks are transactions, so a blockchain is just a record of transactions.
Therefore the overwhelming vector that causes problems for blockchains is malformed transactions. There are other ways of course, mining bugs, etc.
but if a transaction has to prove the sum of its inputs and outputs equal zero in order to be consensus valid, it goes a very long way to mitigating any supply bug.
This site has a deep dive on how Monero inflation is proven non-existent (IF you trust the implementation etc...)

I notice something about Monerospace.org, the block fill capacity does not seem to be scaled to Monero. Even with a 300 kilobyte block, which is about the maximum we get currently, the little picture of the block only shows it like halfway filled or whatever.

sorry
me again
In the real world *people hold the thing they know they can exchange for stuff* that they need.
Holding money as a speculative investment, ie for the NGU, is great if you can.
But it is secondary, as money isn't useful if you can't exchange it for stuff.
The other utilities of money are downstream of its ability to be a MoE.
Where is the list of possible algos?
