Regarding Amber itself: the relay I used for most connections, nsec.app, has been timing out for weeks now.
Purple Pages is also still down.
Zapstore still giving me "This app is no longer available" for all my installed apps when opening the entries directly, and timing out on the Installed Apps screen.
Am I the only one with this experience? And will everyone else here also just kill the infrastructure without even announcing it properly?

i imagine the intention was to use swappable non-personal identifiers (as opposed to for example signal/whatsapp historically relying on phone pumbers). if a bad actor gets access to the server, it shouldn't reveal anything

If the thing is supposed to be generic email why don't users have email addresses to be contacted at?
I've installed 3 Chatmail clients on my phone today (I think Chatmail is the name of the protocol, but everybody calls it Delta Chat, but then Chatmail doesn't present itself as an interoperable protocol either, it presents itself as a collection of software projects and it's unclear whether Delta Chat is part of it or a spin off):
- Delta Chat
- Arcane Chat
- WhatsDown
The 3 are basically the same app. I didn't check but they probably share 99% of the codebase. I don't understand.
Also they allow you to share an invite link for others to talk to you, but I couldn't take the invite link from one and paste on the other because there is no place to paste, only a place to read a QR code.
It's not clear whether I'm supposed to share this invite link publicly or if it's a private thing for only one person to message me (the invite link is big and full of metadata in it). If it's private how am I supposed to send it to someone, using another messaging app?
Also apparently they create accounts for you in a random chatmail server, or Delta Chat at least seems to do that, while Arcane Chat seems to always use arcanechat.me (or something like that), so that could be the reason why they have different apps that are almost exactly the same: the hardcoded setup parameters.
Does it have any tooling for visualizing the trust graph for those?
Inspire them to add self-sovereign signing for profiles and content. Silverpill has done a lot of work on that; see here for example:

I opened Zapstore in order to update Amber, which (without explanation) isn't connecting reliably to the default relays anymore. So my experience is now broken for all of: social client, signing app, app store.

Zapstore is also completely broken for me now. Terrible experience. No proper error messages in any of the apps as to why things aren't working, which would help a lot with either fixing it or reporting failures to the developers.

It looks like purplepag.es has been down for a while, and it's considerably hurting profile lookups in my clients.
Anyone knows what's happening and/or if there are alternatives?

Because most web pages take years to load one would think it would be a good idea to launch them and switch to doing something else while they load, right?
But no, you are wrong. You can't do that because browsers have decided that they won't run the JavaScript of these pages if they are not focused.
So you are forced to stare at the loading screen of every web page while they load.
If it was guaranteed to feel good, I wouldn't be open to whatever happens.
