If you want to wonder about something in physics wonder about light:
It is a paradox, it's massless but has energy it travels at the speed of light and experiences no time. It seems to know all paths it can take and chooses the shortest one even while travelling through different media.
I suspect it can store arbitrary information but I maybe wrong. It is one of the most fascinating concepts in the world, it illuminates reality, it is how we perceive it at the fundamental level, yet we know only very little about it.
Shine some light on this topic if you ever find some time to wonder.
The inability to think critically is so common that I consider the possibility that insanity is the norm and we are the outliers.
All fixed, wasn’t the channel
Today I added Proportional Longitudinal Transformation to my boat hull design app. We can now:
- Lengthen or shorten an existing hull without returning to Setup and rebuilding it.
- Target the measured length on deck (LOD), hull length overall (LOA), or longitudinal datum span.
- Scale the entire hull proportionally so every longitudinal position retains the same percentage of the hull’s length.
- Alternatively, change only the forward or aft region while preserving the rest of the hull.
- Keep selected interior control points fixed while the surrounding geometry transforms.
- Choose whether manual weight locations move proportionally or remain fixed.
- Preview the resulting dimensions and predicted displacement before committing.
- Keep calibrated reference drawings fixed while the hull changes.
- Automatically regenerate stations, transoms, panels, hydrostatics, centres and fabrication outputs.
- Reject unsafe shortening that would cause control points to cross or reverse.
- Apply the complete transformation as a single reversible Undo step.
- Duplicate the project first, allowing dimensional variations to be explored without altering the original design.
These features make it possible to explore different hull lengths late in the design process while preserving the work already invested in the hull’s shape, references and construction geometry. #boat #design

🚨 In Illinois an ordinary DUI is only a Class A misdemeanor — but under 625 ILCS 5/11-501(d), certain aggravating factors turn it into a felony "Aggravated DUI" that can send you to state prison.
A DUI becomes aggravated the moment it involves a 3rd or subsequent offense (Illinois has NO lookback period — a DUI from 20 years ago still counts), a crash causing great bodily harm or death, a child passenger under 16, driving on a license already suspended/revoked for a prior DUI, no valid license or insurance, or operating a school bus with kids aboard. The felony ladder is steep: most aggravated DUIs start as a Class 4 felony (1–3 years in prison, fines up to 2,500 fine if your BAC was 0.16 or higher; a 4th DUI is non-probationable, meaning prison is mandatory; a 5th is a Class 1 felony (4–15 years); and a 6th or subsequent DUI is a Class X felony (6–30 years — the same class as armed robbery). DUI causing a death is a Class 2 felony carrying 3–14 years (6–28 years for two or more deaths) and is not eligible for probation absent extraordinary circumstances. A felony DUI conviction triggers permanent Secretary of State license revocation, can NEVER be expunged or sealed, and — if a child under 16 was in the vehicle — adds a mandatory $25,000 fine plus 25 days of community service in a program benefiting children.
