The activists, including 78 Turkish nationals, were transferred from Ketziot Prison in the Negev desert to Ramon Airport for deportation procedures before boarding three Turkish Airlines flights coordinated by Turkey’s Foreign Ministry. The first plane has already departed for Istanbul.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying 428 people from 44 countries, departed Marmaris last Thursday in a new attempt to break the illegal Israeli blockade on Gaza. Israel seized all 50 vessels following attacks in international waters.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed a special flight had been arranged to bring citizens and participants from third countries back to Turkey.
