I can get two lunches out of one order at this place. Worth it.
Using a GrapheneOS tablet as the goto "computer" for now. Kid profile with whitelisted apps and content.
Xteink x4 is a great little dumb e-reader once you load crosspoint on it. Side loaded no DRM epubs only. I didn't enable network and it doesn't do any ads or recommendations if I did.
At first I was like "I should check out the new kimi model"
Then I realized the American government isn't competent enough to target the best models so it is probably fine to fully disregard.
Piracy makes total control of their media consumption easy. There is only one source of content and content only arrives there if I put it there.
A 20 year old unit is on outdated refrigerant that is getting extremely expensive due to EPA stuff.
Damn shame it came due before r290 is properly approved (unless you are in Europe where it already is) and available. It is far more efficient.
I'm torn between it definitely does because landlords never maintain their shit and it definitely doesn't because HVAC techs are too lazy to troubleshoot and get sales commissions now so they think $10k HVAC systems are disposable.
The ultimate game to win, and is very relevant to nostr, is not the win that "beats out the opponent"
The ultimate win, is when whoever identifies as "the other side" realizes there's nothing to beat, and that no one is _trying_ to beat them out.
"You were always welcome to play with us, but you chose to play by yourself. And that's always fine, there's never anything wrong with that if you don't like the rules. You are always welcome play your game with your own rules. But you know, it'd be a more exciting and fun game if we're all playing together."
Always a negotiation of what the conditions are. The negotiation evolves the game, it brings more players. Always some prodding and pushback, competitive banter, but always trying to bring more players, regardless of the alliance.
If it were The Final Game to win, maybe. Maybe you'd push for your side to win, and the other to lose at any and all costs, for the other side's destruction. But At All Cost games reduce and simplify ecosystems, they create monocultures by definition, and reduce robustness.
This isn't The Final Game, with finite outcomes. It's an Infinite game, just as serious. But the purpose is to keep the infinite game continuing, not to win and then end. You can win smaller, semi-high stakes games/tournaments within an infinite game, of course. But they're still in service of the larger game's continuation and evolution, and never as serious.
Whoever approved the CnB pouch in men's underwear deserves an OTPHJ every day for life.
And I have read through the article you mentioned.
To me it seems a very overstated opinion that is written there. There is no reference to code-changes, which support the allegations. And the article is from 2021. So when there is substance with this article, it would be easy to give evidence in malicious forged code.
But Firefox is very clearly the goat in user-centric web browsing, to defend from tracking and advertisement. Tracking can be clearly shown, since Firefox has many masking mechanisms implemented, that come from Tor-Browser. And through upholding Manifest V2, uBlockOrigin can block trackers more effectively:
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock mentions clearly, for this extension to work best with Firefox.
Also Firefox has no revenue based on tracking user behavior and selling those, while most gains of Google are from tracking users and selling advertisement space targeting those. Therefore I feel Firefox clearly has better track record and better incentives to defend users interest.
That gets back to why nostr when I do spend time on social media. No other platform makes it easier to engage with and reward the people who post more rarely but higher effort higher quality content.
I'm scatterbrained by nature. I'm really prone to piling up lots of projects in mixed states of partially done.
Slowing down and really focusing on the current task, proper execution with all the details completed really improves my mental state. Also the more I improve my mental state the easier it is to slow down and focus on one task at a time. It is a virtuous cycle. It's kind of amazing how much much gets done by slowing down.

The sport by that name that England invented in 1863 which my country had the good sense to never adopt.
I've noticed that the better my mental health state the less compulsion I feel to engage with social media.
It kinda makes it hard to not picture some of the prolific posters here like that crazy homeless guy yelling at stranger as they pass by on the street.
Madonna’s and Shakira’s combined age is 116 years.
The Muppets and all the kids in the halftime show kinda made my day.
Yeah, my entire Polymarket balance (under $200) is on Argentina to win and Messi to score, so godspeed!
It's been a long fall from "speak softly and carry a big stick" to "Trump Always Chickens Out"
Nemesis unnecessary. The hubris is only there to try to cover up all the failures they are hoping no one notices. Noticed or not, the problems are real and hubris doesn't solve them.
I also have no clue WTF I'm looking at.
And steal from you by guaranteeing worse than market rate returns with the gap getting larger the higher inflation is.

I almost did that the other day! What’s the story behind the old one, did the nsec get lost?

New painting, new challenge.
For the first time I'm working with nighttime light.
American roadside diners, open past midnight, have always fascinated me.
This time the subject comes from the TV series FROM — a place you can't leave, where light is the only certainty.
Time, silence, light: my three recurring themes, for the first time in the dark.
Work in progress.
Oh man. Fable has made more fuckups in the last few days than I am cool with. I had to stop using it.
What were you refering to, when I assumed wrong?
It's not stopped at all sir, just moving to a bigger release schedule. GitHub has commits almost daily
Trump is doing everyone a favor by reminding us that the government is not on our side and isn't here to help.
Canada used to have fewer massive fires but the government decided to cancel their fire prevention programs.
Consider it a team effort.
I predicted months ago, though maybe not publicly, that Luke would rage quit if 110 failed.

Sorry. But this is the world cup of football. What does this have to do with the US?
And yea it is clear those teams all would rather like to be in the final. This has nothing to do with the US.
I was so confused who thought chicken parm with rice and beans was a good idea until I finally figured out that's salsa.
The "Democrats would rather lose" theory really rains on your parade.
Apologies for AI summary, I couldn't find my favorite real human explanation.
The donor class overlaps. Democratic Party leadership and their biggest donors (Wall Street, corporate executives, defense contractors, private equity) often benefit from the same policies Republicans enact — tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, endless wars, weak labor laws. 2
If Democrats actually won big and enacted the popular progressive platform they campaign on (Medicare for All, $15 minimum wage, taxing the rich, etc.), it would directly hurt the financial interests of their own donor class. 3
So they self-sabotage. The party puts forward weak candidates, runs milquetoast centrist campaigns, and makes unpopular tactical decisions — ensuring they stay just competitive enough to raise money and exist, but not so successful that they'd actually have to deliver on real change.
The blame-shifting mechanism. When they lose, they blame Republican obstruction, gerrymandering, the Electoral College, voter suppression, or the media. When they win narrow majorities, they use the filibuster or "moderates in their own party" as excuses for why they can't pass anything transformative.
oh! i figured the big new feature was the keyed download!
maybe it's... a shared drive mediated by WoT?
If voting changed anything they would make it illegal.

The mini-PC merely needs software done. With any luck flirc will mean I can use my same remote.
I can do all myself but I do need a high WAF for the finished product. So it begins.

The Jellyfin app on roku is nice. The hardware was literally just a Jellyfin player to me. The number of ads I see and clicks to get Jellyfin launched are my primary metrics for hardware quality. Both have gotten worse since purchase with 2 obvious step change "updates" in the last month or so.
I have an n150 and flirc remote, just haven't done the work. It wasn't worth it for 3 clicks and 1 ad. 7 clicks and 20 ads or whatever it is up to is worth it.
