Retarded comparison as usual; of course NFT fees are high as a percentage of the output value because they're sending less than a dollar worth of BTC. Such use cases could easily end up spending thousands of percent in fees relative to the output value.
Ultimately you still have yet to realize that you're making bcash arguments. Bitcoin does not guarantee low fees for anyone, it only offers a free market for block space.

UTXO creation occurs when you deposit bitcoin in an address.
Segwit does many things, the increased block weight limit does allow for more throughput. The discount is complicated and a rough estimation rather than precisely tuned for every script type.

You will notice that it is just an IPv4 address, but that it is using https. Also behind the scenes this IPv4 address is approved by a certificate authority.
What this means is that when your browser goes to this site it should open the site without any warnings.
This wasn't something that was always easy to do in a way that the typical browser will like.
When you rent or put a computer online you get an IP address, and you can put up http://15.235.3.231 right away. It will work, but the typical browser will throw a hissy-fit and scare off 90% of the normies out there. Also having encryption on your connections is a nice thing to have.
Well the Electronic Frontier Foundation has just recently made it much easier to have a website with a certificate for an IPv4 or IPv6 address. If you're interested in more detail, here is a good place to start:

My personal goal is to try to be as sovereign as possible. While using IPv4 and IPv6 is not as sovereign as using TOR or FIPS, it is a great intermidate step. Not only do you not have to get permission to rent a domain name, the site ends up being faster and more private because the user doesn't have to access the DNS system in order to access your site.
It would be nice to see many more relays on nostr using wss with an IP address. It is a great use case, without much hassle.

In the Colorado mountains, intense UV accelerates phenolic development, while cool nights slow sugar accumulation.
This gives tannins and anthocyanins time to fully develop before the Brix climbs too high.
Picking at 23 Brix isn't the concession it would be in a hotter region, where sugar can race ahead of phenolic development and force growers to pick before it matures.

It's complicated.
A transaction output:
* is stored in the UTXO set until spent,
* has to be maintained by validating nodes,
* contributes to the state that nodes need for future validation.
By contrast, when that output is eventually spent, much of the data required to authorize the spend—especially signatures—is transient validation data. Once the spend is confirmed, the old UTXO can be deleted from the UTXO set.
So there is a desirable incentive structure:
UTXO creation should be relatively expensive
and
UTXO consumption should be relatively cheap
The witness discount moves Bitcoin in that direction.
Example: P2WPKH
A typical native SegWit P2WPKH input is roughly:
* 41 non-witness bytes → 41 x 4 = 164 WU
* about 107 witness bytes → 107 WU
Total: 271 WU / 67.75 vbytes
A P2WPKH output is 31 bytes, all non-witness:
31 x 4 = 124 WU = 31 vbytes
So consuming a UTXO still costs more than creating one, but the difference is much smaller than it would be if the signature received no discount.
Without the witness discount, that same input would be roughly:
41 + 107 = 148 bytes
versus only 31 bytes for the newly created output.
That would give users a fairly strong incentive to create lots of outputs because creation looks cheap, while later consolidation looks expensive.
With the discount, the ratio is closer to 68 vB input : 31 vB output rather than 148 : 31.
Why this matters for UTXO growth:
Suppose you receive ten small payments.
Later, you want to combine those ten UTXOs into one.
A consolidation transaction has:
* many inputs, which **destroy UTXOs**
* few outputs, which **create UTXOs**
Bitcoin arguably wants such transactions to be reasonably cheap because they reduce the global UTXO set.
The witness discount helps enormously here because most of the bulky part of each input—the authorization data—is discounted.
Conversely, a transaction with:
* one input
* twenty outputs
creates nineteen additional UTXOs.
Those twenty outputs receive **no witness discount**. Their bytes count at the full 4 WU/byte rate.
So the weight system implicitly taxes UTXO proliferation more heavily than it otherwise would.

Major security hardening: SSRF protection, DoS limits on all reads, RFC 1918 isolation blocking WiFi from upstream LAN, config file lockdown. New NIP-06 identity system derives IPv4, MAC, and BIP39 seed from merchant key. Lightning reliability fixes include quote persistence to disk, exponential backoff, and fuzzy mint URL matching.
- tollgate-rs Rust backend built from scratch into a working mesh payment routing system with metered forwarding, peer-to-peer balance accounting, bidirectional peering, drift detection, and a top-like TUI monitor. Docs for internet exit, GRE tunneling, and mesh architecture merged.
- ESP32 firmware now supports B2B ehash mining settlement with board-to-board mining through TollGate, dual-wallet config, and faucet clients. ESP32-C3 compatibility advancing for balloon deployments with local relay support re-enabled.
- TollGate Android app: full Cashu CDK wallet migration, WiFi-based TollGate discovery with auto-connect, gateway protocol on port 2121, and a complete pay flow with multi-mint auto-rebalance.
- LR2021 throughput reached 1500 kbps. Schematics completed with validated pin connections. GPS-enabled range testing firmware ready for outdoor tests.
- microFIPS mesh now has ESP-NOW transport compiling and flashing on ESP32-C3, Noise IK protocol with golden vector tests, and an LR2021 SPI driver with FLRC framing.
- Community highlight: a working MVP called fips-tollgate has been built, combining FIPS mesh and TollGate to let gateway operators charge for access to a FIPS mesh network using Cashu. Source on ngit.
- Captive portal polished with balance dashboard, DLEQ keyset rotation handling, session-expiry heartbeat, and graceful degradation for missing browser APIs.
- Protocol spec advanced: relay/bootstrap mode for multi-hop token chains, and multiple metrics (time + data) allowed simultaneously.

another experiment: i converted the ISO-screw openscad code to a blender mesh operator, so that i can cut screws into arbitrary geometry with a "slop" value so that it isn't too tight. programmable matter is very fun.
