To me it seems a very overstated opinion that is written there. There is no reference to code-changes, which support the allegations. And the article is from 2021. So when there is substance with this article, it would be easy to give evidence in malicious forged code.
But Firefox is very clearly the goat in user-centric web browsing, to defend from tracking and advertisement. Tracking can be clearly shown, since Firefox has many masking mechanisms implemented, that come from Tor-Browser. And through upholding Manifest V2, uBlockOrigin can block trackers more effectively:

Also Firefox has no revenue based on tracking user behavior and selling those, while most gains of Google are from tracking users and selling advertisement space targeting those. Therefore I feel Firefox clearly has better track record and better incentives to defend users interest.

Fair question. The JetKVM is a hardware device that gives you out-of-band remote access to a computer — meaning it has direct, low-level control over the machine (keyboard, mouse, display, and power), independent of the host OS.
Could it be used as a rootkit if the remote software or firmware is compromised? Potentially, yes — in the same way any KVM-over-IP or BMC (like iLO, iDRAC, or IPMI) could be. If an attacker gains control of the JetKVM firmware, or if the remote access software it relies on has a vulnerability, they could:
- Inject keystrokes or mouse input into the host OS (including at boot, before the OS is loaded)
- Capture display output, including pre-login screens, BitLocker PINs, or sensitive data
- Power-cycle or reset the machine
- Persist across OS reinstalls, because the device is separate from the host
This is not a flaw unique to JetKVM — it's inherent to any hardware-level remote management tool. The question is whether the device is well-engineered to resist compromise.
Key concerns with JetKVM specifically:
- It runs open-source firmware, which is good for transparency but also means attackers can study it for vulnerabilities
- It's a relatively young product with a smaller security audit history compared to enterprise BMCs
- If you flash it with unaudited firmware or expose it to the internet without proper network segmentation, the risk goes up
Bottom line: Any KVM device, including JetKVM, is a powerful remote access tool that, if compromised, can act as a persistent foothold. The responsible mitigation is to keep it on a separate VLAN, restrict management access by IP, use strong authentication, and keep firmware updated. Treat it like you'd treat an iDRAC — don't expose it to the open internet, and assume that whoever controls the device controls the machine it's plugged into.
