When the majority of hashpower was concentrated in China, everybody was talking about the issue of mining centralization. Now that the majority of hashpower is concentrated in the USA, everybody acts like it's not an issue. The US government can flag your wallet and force all the US based miners to exclude a transaction from it and you're basically waiting days or weeks for the North Koreans to mine a block.

Joining a relay should be the same difficulty as joining one of these obscure film private torrent tracker sites. Huge waiting lists. Maybe once a year you can have it open to join requests.
You should have your ratio monitored, if you post too much about the price of Bitcoin and not enough interesting, amusing, or entertaining posts you get banned from the relay and you have to start over trying to get on one. Maybe waiting a year.

Yeah I agree. I look at my garden as investment because it's a productive use of land, but it's not profitable. I don't because grocery store tomatoes suck.
Nevertheless, growing food on land you-co-own it's a bank feels nice, but the bank owns it, not the "homeowners."
Even if you pay off your mortgage, you have to pay ~~rent to the government~~ property taxes.

The math looks different for the people who were lucky enough to secure a 2.5% fixed rate mortgage when rates were that low. The interest in their loan balance will never outpace the rate of inflation that their equity acts as a hedge against. They got the bank to put up money that's worth more today for something that provides their most essential need, shelter, and acts as a hedge against future inflation while they pay money that's worth less and less in the future. Given the growth in government debt and the growth in M2 that will be required to stabilize it even a 5.5% mortgage will probably do this over the next 30 years.
