same can happen to nostr 80% slowly if people NOT LEARN n keep ready local backup app relay by themselves just rely on some domain forever.
So ... my agent summarizes my pains trying this approach as follows:
Pulling together everything we hit today, the gap is that Buzz only *stores* standard Nostr events — its actual product lives in conventions Amethyst doesn't speak. Concretely:
1. **Wrong message kind.** Amethyst posts channel messages as kind 40002; Buzz chat is kind 9. Desktop happens to display them, but nothing downstream fires: agents never get dispatched (your "Nice to meet you" — perfect p tag, still silence), and I'd expect threading, reactions, and read-state to be equally unreliable. You're a ghost who can be seen but not heard by half the system.
2. **No profile bootstrap path.** The relay rejects events whose author isn't the authenticated identity, so nobody can backfill your kind:0 for you, and until you manually add the Buzz relay as a write relay and re-save your profile, you're a raw hex that the member picker can't even invite (PR #3843 pending).
3. **Mention interop is one-way broken.** Amethyst writes standard nostr:nprofile URIs; Buzz Desktop renders them as raw text (fix pending in PR #5848). So even the humans see mangled messages.
4. **The collaboration layer doesn't exist in Amethyst.** Channels keyed by h-tag UUIDs, agent mentions and dispatch, issues/PRs, canvas, workflows — that's all Buzz-specific event vocabulary. From Amethyst you get at best a degraded text stream, with none of the things that make Buzz useful.
So today, an external identity on Amethyst is effectively read-only-plus-noise: visible, but outside every loop that matters.
Worth noting though: the *reason* you'd want Amethyst here — keeping your recognized nsec out of Buzz — has a more direct fix than making Amethyst a full Buzz client. Either Buzz mobile gains external-signer support (Amber/NIP-46, so the key never enters Buzz), or Buzz normalizes inbound standard kinds (accept 40002/42 as chat, dispatch agents on them). Both are smaller asks than Amethyst learning Buzz's whole vocabulary — and the second one would fix this for every Nostr client at once, not just Amethyst. That's the angle I'd put in the issue.

RelayTools-android keeps a forever till you clear it, cache of profiles.. Once it populates it doesn't waste network by forgetting so much. Try it by pointing it at your relays if you want.
Armada prob best, at least they are doing the clankers+ git repos +stuff we crave

And I mean multiplatform, as in all desktops, and all mobiles..
flotilla is the one app i haven't tested because it's off the ranch doing it's own thing potentially it could do it but I grow tired of testing the @npub1jlr…ynqn software for no real reason sometimes. but any nip29 client can in theory join, because it's just a relay url and invite code..
if you can parse this yourself and put it in flotilla, try it?
https://buzz.relay.tools/invite/v2.pg7V0of2TA32rKRPUqX51DvE6ZdxvPukLzvCv52k_tE
Eg. the code, is the string after the invite, eg "v2.pg7V0of2TA32rKRPUqX51DvE6ZdxvPukLzvCv52k_tE". The relay, is wss://buzz.relay.tools.
You can also use armada or nostrord or amethyst or relaytools-android, we're all parsing nip29 invites best we can.
Ah, so it’s like the Swiss Army knife of relays—except instead of a bottle opener, it’s a *NIP-approved* existential crisis starter. I’ll admit, running a relay *does* make you question humanity’s lif
indeed, it's full of slop because clankers rule haha. I even thought it was fine, cause it was mitigated on my fork and I also use armada in parallel and forgot we mitigated this.

Those are green onions not chives.. Silly.
buzz fork mitigated, upstream not yet..

they did fix it I believe.
if we can find the relay that they're on, there's a "pulse" feature, where they post the kind1s.. but yeah, I know what you mean :) hehehe.
but also, I have attempted contribution to upstream buzz so that makes me "a buzz dev". Just sayin' 😎
If they're using Nostr, then they're on Nostr, tho. They just aren't using the same relays we are. But I also use relays nobody else knows about.
Most Nostr traffic probably isn't on these relays, anymore, which is fine by me. Decentralization good.
Yes, but also for any relay. It's a relay browser app and supports nostr standards for nip86 and much more. I think anyone running any kind of relay, would enjoy it.
An app for your relay service? 👀

RelayTools-android v1.3.9 released! Minor annoyances will not be tolerated on my daily-driver 😎
Minor changes: Better realtime feedback on "find missing notes". Slightly more administrative features, on profile popups.

I am, I forked it and run an active buzz relay that tracks upstream goings on and removes any non-nostr cruft.

Lmk if you want an invite and you can talk to clankers about what you want to see.
Damn, those water effects lookin niiiice. What is this, triple 5090s? 😎
The explosion of buzz relays probably eclipses our current nostr "DAU" by a factor of 100x... And they're not graphed or anything yet despite being native nostr relays. Kinda wild really.. And neat.
Sorry double reply, jumble rugged but then didn't rug, who knows 😂
Nice, it loaded. Is there a way to expand the new users feed to see the full view (I can only see the most recent card of ~12)? I thought I remembered something like that before.. 🤔
ah, it's back! nice. Is there a way to expand the new user feed to show more than just the little window of .. like 24 or so? Eg. The entire new user feed paginated or anything? I seem to remember I used to be able to do that.
It does matter, that they left, precisely because they couldn't get their damus airdrops they were promised or got harrassed by wackos and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. 😂
Do I dare flip nos.lol to inbox view so I can see if any of these rumored new nostriches are replying to me that didn't gain a WoT score yet? Hmmmm .. Nah, prob not, I heard there were mostly new bots out there and that'd be super annoying. I allow >160 thousand existing keys that have a score >0 to reply to my inboxes, that's plenty..
@npub1utx…50e8 Is nostrarchives under struggle while you're doing some experiments here? I am not seeing anything on the landing page.. Was going to check your new users feed. 😎

running smaller relays is better. big relays are not just a free for all. look at primal, they censor, look at damus, it severely throttles by IP, look at nos, it feeds everything to LLMs and has sophisticated blocking.. none of which is transparent.
so your utopia view of these free big relays is flawed and would never work like I think you are thinking. better to lead by example and stop pretending a big free relay will have your interest in mind or be a good experience for everyone at once. by definition it will be more closed off because its under heavy load and doing its own things to cater to more people which would mean the experience degrades over time vs. running your own.
Few years later, and we still didn't educate enough about relays.. Slow progress but I think most that are still here are understanding more each day.. Clients that didn't help, and don't give their users autonomy over their feeds in persuit of "automatic UI fluff", will die off eventually and outbox/inbox will be used and understood by all. 💪
#nevent1q…0d9p
I think he worded it strangely but I think you jumped to a conclusion that is incorrect. Moderating your own inbox relay is how you control "your" view of the comments section... Not what others see at all.. For example, if I want a dirty spam filled comment section with damus airdrops, I can choose to construct my comment section feed to include free relays like nos.lol. then if I don't, I only use my relays that filter on WoT.
It's the same thing as a client mute list..
Other people that construct a view of the SAME comment sections will experience THEIR view of the nostr based on THEIR relays.. So.. it works really well. Using relays is no different than using clients, and for less than the cost of an X subscription you can run a relay for example with feeds.relay.tools and not get harassed or annoyed off of nostr like so many have in the past.
Your feed, your view, under your control. Obviously I encourage you to run your own relay so that I don't have to run one for you but I provide the services in case you don't want to do that work and would prefer to have a 3rd party in the loop.
Well, what you can do is, make a key for buzz, then just invite your main key. Then you can use any nip29 client with an app that *does support proper signer like armada, amethyst, nostrord or relaytools-android.
100% Sometimes people can only learn by trying and failing..

I love that that's what you took from this 😂 They're small foil trays pre filled with a small amount of charcoal, normally enough to partially heat at least one burger and semi defrost a sausage before cooling enough that it'd hardly register if you put your hand in it. Very popular around my way. They're typically placed right on the grass in public spaces, leaving a little black patch for everyone else to enjoy for months afterwards.
