Derek becoming a Monero dev was not on my list.
He will play with it and stay like everyone before him. Most Monero Bros have figured out that you can value and hold both for their unique strength. It's just not compatible with Bitcoin maximalism. But the toxicity/freedom fighting is of the same energy.
#nevent1q…pepl
Lol. That's a good one.
I guess it's because many Monero Bros once were Bitcoin OGs.
You can not get rid of what the mainstream calls male toxicity which is really testosterone doing its thing to save the tribe/family/community/planet.
The fire rises:

I downloaded Linux the other day and tried to open a windows app. Yup. Non Technical People is an understatement 😃
The problem with the wot/mesh/torrent hosting however is you’re hosting fractions of other users notes, which could be a problem for less active users that don’t post as many notes which means the people they follow take up space on their phone but I’m assuming this could be offset with some zapping mechanism, PoW, or a specialized client where users enter knowing the risks of using the opt in feature on the client.
Usually yes. The receiver gets less.
The trade off of self hosting your notes is every users phone fills up faster.
The trade off of external third party infrastructure/centralized servers is you rely on others to host your notes.
The trade off of self hosted infrastructure is that it needs to be maintained.
The only solution I see to this is some sort of hashing/compression algorithm distributed via torrents where every note generated has an output that’s shared across users in a WoT which might minimize space but still storage is the primary chokehold overall.
The only way we can fix this is we start a Nostr superman 5D crystal hardware server thingy like @nprofile…m20y @nprofile…ttdv where realistically the compressed hashed torrented data generated by a WoT network wouldn’t realistic be filled up unless transhumanism/tree of life/fountain of youth/etc. is accomplished, and we live longer than 120+ years.

But I don’t see a fee/cut in my transactions, just the zap amounts going out?
Yes, more if you use Spark.. up to 1% of all the fees are enabled.
Sorry if this is dumb, but when I zap here do I get charged a fee I had no idea about?
Bolt12 stalled by VISA-backed Blockstream, surprise.

this.
Maybe coinjoin or mixer or something like that by default. And even then, it’s iffy.
Oh I'd love to see bolt12 everywhere. It's adoption is so damn slow though that I gave up and am now looking at Ark. My Lightning node has been active and online for 6 years, but that doesn't mean I can see normal people ever running one.
It's the same set of compromises and tradeoffs that govern how you secure your private key on a hardware device in the real world.
You are only sovereign over that key insofar as you can physically defend it. And that's never a sure thing even if you're the king of the world.
I have been hearing people say Ark a lot lately which reminds me of when people were saying ecash a lot which reminded me of when people said Bolt12 has us covered heh
Probably. We just need the right motivation for people to solve this. Right now Ark is looking very good. I'm excited to see if that can be used to solve this.
Sovereignty is not an engineering problem, it's a choice. Own your notes, own your wealth, own yourself.
Maybe Claude chooses Ark?
With Bitcoin, I can't think of any compromises or trade offs that compromise my sovereignity in a way where I'm no long sovereign over my private key.
"we don't need compromises and we don't need trade offs"
When it comes to Bitcoin, there entire field is made up of compromises and tradeoffs because it is the real world barging into cyberspace.
In the rest of the digital world, the sentiment is accurate. But calling it engineering is a stretch.

Claude build this. Make no mistakes.
Sovereign notes and zaps, like sovereign health, require robust foundation, similar to how bitcoin needs a strong network, our bodies need robust animal nutrients.
It's gotta be just 1 pep talk away surely

Biggest hurdle is getting non-KYC Bitcoin.
Yep! What a coincidence. Thank you for your script and work on this. It's pretty damn cool.
i follow many many many of the regular and popular nostr folk, so you just see lots of whatever comes across the feed.
also, my extremely perfect, amazing, beautiful, good and great ideas to grow both nostr & bitcoin were rejected by opensats for funding. they do
not have vision for growing nostr (or do not actually want to grow nostr, which is a possibility too) but i was hoping they’d do their best to research outside their tiny tiny extremely super small bubble of awareness to see how great my ideas are.
my ideas were also mocked via subtweet. but i was just like, “proof of fucking normie shitheads lol”
.
.
.
i love (the idea of) nostr❣️
I love that sparrow released silent payments right in time to experiment with it :)
That's great feedback, I don't really follow what opensats are doing to be honest, and Nostr does not belong to anyone.
We (youe and everyone) decide how to use it and how to build on it.
So if you wanna give ideas please do by all means
with all due respect (much respect 🫡 to you probably)…but just gonna be blunt & straightforward again…
it’s not a chicken & egg problem.
pretty much all of you working on nostr, the funders included, completely lack vision that’s necessary. you’re all stuck in an older world. you guys keep talking about “normies” but ill just use the same word…
_you_ guys _are_ the normies…with a dose of worse than just normie. opensats shouldnt fund misogynistic nostr devs (or devs that apparently are trying to destroy bitcoin. huh? what is going on? is it fake drama to grow nostr? idunno. lol so strange.)
when the participants that be do not have well-developed intuition or low level consciousness or simply dgaf (one example: misogynistic dev), nostr (and bitcoin) will simply not grow in a healthy way, if it is to grow at all.
cool! how expensive is it? :)
You are a visionary and you know that!
I am lost, what is that? Looks like Alby Go doing something.
Bark on mainnet with NWC seems to be out today basically, just in time to save us from the death of Lightning 😀

I'm just trolling any time time I bring this up though. I'm not a pizza elitist. I believe the best pizza is whatever the eater wants. Though I tend to prefer traditional pizza with very few toppings, if any. My favorite is a classic Neapolitan style where good cheese, dough, and sauce are allowed to shine. I think many American pizzas suck ass and get covered in toppings as a result. A really good dough requires little sauce and cheese in my experience.
That's fair and probably why I almost never do solo pineapple. I usually pair it with jalepeno or something that balances it out. I don't even like sweeter tomato sauce, so I have no idea why I like pineapple. I figure it's because it's a sour/sweet with the spicy/salty side of the other toppings.
